I have been a traveler to North Padre Island for 49 years. The Island lives off of mostly the tourist trade especially in the summer time. It has the open ocean called the Gulf of Mexico. Fishing both inland Flats and deep ocean are readily available. The island is slow to develope and contained until maybe the last 10 or so years just run down fishing lodges. Today there are some modern places to stay. One of them that was established before most of the rest are the Captain's Quarters. Smaller than most others but run well. Small fresh Water pool, big ice machine, BBQ area, friendly staff. It is located within view of the Ferry Landing making travel to and from Aransas Pass a quick neat trip. Almost walking distance to the Ocean. The Ship Channel right in view. Big shopping places abound for swim items and tourist gear.
