When we opened the door, the room smelled stagnant. The bedding was wrinkled and had definitely been used already. Blood on the wall from where some one had smashed a bug. Black hairs in the shower drain. No carpeting. Just a dirty floor that was disgusting. We asked for a nonsmoking room. The couch had a cigarette burn in it. The whole room needed a really good cleaning. I complained to the manager ?/ possibly owner? I told him this room is filthy. He asked if we wanted another room or our money back. We took the refund and went around the corner to the Holiday Inn Express which was pristine for $30 more that also included a hot breakfast.

Where to start? The bedding was worn and had holes. The coverlet had stains. Dirty and worn carpet. Foul odors at times. All surfaces were dirty, worn or stained, or all three. Failed to clean room and make beds, although lack of cleaning would be hard to discern. The worst place we've stayed in for over 30 years. Refurbish or tear down!

Only redeeming features is its proximity to The Back Porch Bar!!
Other than that see through towels, mouldy shower curtain, bedding at worst needs to be washed and best renewed. Not a room to hang around in , or balcony to enjoy the view from.
Highly unlikely we will be passing through again but if we ever drive the Texas Gulf Coast again we will give this a wide berth! No pun intended.

Stayed again this year and it was a wonderful experience. Friendly and attentive staff, good breakfast choices, clean rooms, great location. Only weekend noisy people this time was a motorcycle rider who kept his radio on when he started his cycle x 2 after 10:00 p.m. Other than that, no problems.
