Great customer service, great stay. Very dog friendly. They even gave us a tag to put on our dog in case she got lost! We would definitely stay in the quaint little cottage again. Short walk to the beach. We would definitely recommend renting the golf cart.

Me and my fiance' were here Feb. 15-18 and enjoyed our stay. We stayed in Unit 11, the Spirited Pony. I will start my review with the negatives, even though they are only minor:

It's not on the beach, but it is a short walk or ride. It's not luxurious, and the conditions are not the best in the world, but they suffice. If I wasn't in Port A I would have been concerned for our safety because the doors/windows were not secure. The futon was uncomfortable, the bathroom is small, and there is just not much room in the place overall. Also there is no pool, which may have been a concern if we were there in the summertime. Lastly, we did not have any wireless internet during our stay. We mentioned it at the front desk, but we were never able to get connected. This did affect us because we had to do about 3 hours of work and were unable to do so, even though we arrived expecting to be able to get the work done. We ended up having to stay up extra late once we got back home to do the work.

Now on to the positives, which probably outweigh the negatives. I would say the best aspect of the Laughing Horse Lodge was how accommodating they were about everything. Of course, one of the selling points is that it is pet friendly, which was great for us. Our two dogs had a blast. There is plenty of room around the complex for them to explore when we weren't exploring the beach.

We also really enjoyed having a cart to get around in. The carts were nice and affordable, and it was fun driving the cart over to the beach with the dogs.

The bed was very comfortable, we slept well. There was no TV in the bedroom which we like to watch when falling asleep, but that wasn't a major concern.

Having a kitchen with a refrigerator and stove was nice, and we cooked fresh shrimp one afternoon that were very tasty. Downfall is you have to clean all of the dishes by hand before you leave.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay - but I must say if there are other options nearby in the future that are pet-friendly, we would probably choose the other options over Laughing Horse.

We stayed two nights for a winter vacation. The manager was very nice and made us feel welcome. We like to travel with our dog and this hotel is very dog friendly, down to the separate dog towels, food dish and treat in the room. It is an older hotel, but the decoration and wild colors are so fun! The room was clean, ac kept the room nice and cool, and the bed was very comfortable. We will stay there again.

We enjoyed one night in one of the motel rooms while my dad stayed in a larger casita. The room was simple but clean and comfortable. The casita was well appointed for a couple and a small to medium sized dog. The property is designed to be dog friendly. Prices are reasonable for the area.

We'll be back!!

Room Tip: Ask for a description of the casitas - they appear to be unique.

My fiancee and I stayed here with our dog this past weekend, and we loved it! We needed a place that would let us bring our dog, was within walking distance of the beach, and wasn't insanely expensive, and Laughing Horse Lodge was all three.

We stayed in the smallest unit, and efficiency called the Bridle Sweet, and were very pleased with all the amenities. It had a flatscreen TV with DVD player (and we brought our blu-ray to hook up to it), a small but useful fridge/freezer (it has its own freezer section, instead of a freezer shelf like most tiny fridges), a microwave, and a coffee pot. There was also a little breakfast table right in front of a huge window.

The bed was amazing b/c it had a memory foam mattress pad--my fiancee had the best night's sleep in the last year, and we're planning to go buy our own mattress pad now. Haha!

The maid service is do-it-yourself, which is just fine by me, as it keeps the cost down. I didn't feel that the place was lacking at all because of it. If you want fresh towels and sheets, all you have to do is bring the old ones to the front office, and they'll replace them.

The woman in the front office (I'm not sure if she was one of the owners or not) was also very friendly and helpful and fun to talk to.

Overall, it was a great experience, and we're going back as soon as we can!

It was a great stay at Laughing Horse, as always. The accomodations are functional and lots of fun, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the cottages are very close to the beach. We brought a dog with us for the first time. LH is very dog friendly and it worked out great! This is my favorite place to stay in Port Aransas.

The Laughing Horse Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. It is accommodating, charming, and downright cozy. My dad and I stayed in the Charlie Horse #9 cottage, and both enjoyed it. My father, who is 73, found the seating and his bed to be quite comfortable... and believe me with his aches and pains he is picky. The kitchen was stocked with all of the tools one needs to prepare a great meal. The cottage was very very clean as well! All in all the kitschy cool decor along with the "home away from home" vibe really was perfect for us. Candy and staff were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We will be going back to stay and fish some more.... and I will be going back with a small group of friends. Love the Laughing Horse Lodge!!

Room Tip: From what I was able to see all of the spaces are sweet... I suggest going for one of the solo cotta...
