We stayed here for the first time and loved the place. It's conveniently located just on the edge of town. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the pool is nice and heated. The free breakfast was great! The room smelled a little musty, but we just bought a nice candle to take away the smell. We will definelty stay here again.

The Plantation has package deals with deep sea fishing and dinner at Trout Street. The room was average, but certainly worth the $45 it ended up costing (when you deduct the meal and the fishing). You can't find a room for that price. It had a small fridge and a microwave oven. The fishing trip was an 8 hour deep sea trip and was fun. The meal was fabulous.

After getting into our room late we noticed large clumps of pet hair on the tiled floor. Upon wiping up a few water spots on the floor, I noticed the white towel had turned dark brown with filth. I complained to the night manager who offered another room, but it was late, we were tired, and had showered, unpacked, and we were ready for bed. I asked him to make sure the room was thoroughly cleaned the next day so we could continue our stay. He said he would definately take care of it and he was oh so sorry.
I called the next morning to make sure the message was delivered to the day staff. It was not. I complained a second time and they again offered another room and I again told them that wasn't neccesary, I wanted them to clean the the room while we were gone. I live in a house with tiled floor and I know how easy they are to clean. I honestly didn't think it would be a problem. WRONG. WE came back the next evening, and although the floor had been vaccumed we now saw a large area of DRIED BLOOD on the floor in one location and 2 others had smaller amounts of dried blood on the floor in addition to the original filth on the unmopped floor. So much for complaining......
I shudder to think of how dirty the carpeted rooms really are.

My husband and I just spent a 2 night "spur of the moment" weekend in Port Aransas. We had no reservations and found Plantation Suites just by driving up and asking their rate for the night...under $70.00! This was a very quiet and clean room. It did smell a little like old cigarette smoke, but we cleared that up with a nice candle from one of the local shops. Cute "Plantation" type exterior.

The room had 2 Queen beds, a sleeper sofa, a microwave and a small refrigerator. The shower was great with lots of water pressure. We tried the heated pool, but it was a little too cool for us...the hot tub was awesome...and yes, we were in after the 10:00 rule. No one seemed to mind. The pool area is very nicely landscaped.

The grounds were nice with a volleyball sand pit, a basketball goal, horseshoe pits, a very clean picnic and bar-b-que area, and a very nice fish cleaning house out back. Lots of boat parking. Oh, and the rocking chairs placed around the veranda's (porches) were very comfortable and a great place to sit and enjoy the quiet with a good book. (I teach Middle school so that was especially welcome.)

I can't say enough about the staff. They were so friendly and helpful. This place also has a meeting room and a couple of 2 bedroom condos that my husband and I requested to take a peek at (next trip?)...they were very clean, bright, modern, with private balconies, full kitchens AND a washer and dryer. Perfect for a family or two couples.

If I sound like an advertisement for the place...let me say this... we travel quite a bit around the country, and we depend on reviews much of the time to give us a "heads up" on various locations...trust me...you won't be disappointed if you're looking for a clean and spacious room at a good price. It's not beachfront, but everything is within a 5-10 minute ride and the Beach Trolley runs right in front of the hotel.
