“Great fried food but disappointing shrimp.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

One of our favorite foods to eat when we visit Port Aransas every year is fresh gulf shrimp... especially grilled shrimp. While the fried fish and crab cakes were very good, we were all disappointed by the sauteed shrimp--grilled was not on the menu. If I rated Avery's on the shrimp alone, I would rate them as poor. Otherwise, the food and service were very good.

“Best breakfast,dinner,service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011 via mobile

this place was great! Tried grouper for the first time.....good not fishy. The coffee was great. The omeletes are fluffy. For a family of four breakfast $ 40. Dinner $47. Not bad at all.

“Best Hashbrowns in town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

Don't expect anything fancy, but the waitresses are super friendly and the food is a good value! We went on Wednesday morning and the local older men were there having breakfast....that is always a good sign in a vacation town. Omelet was ok, hash browns fabulous and the biscuits and sausage gravy great! Not a flaky biscuit but perfect for gravy! Breakfast taco and salsa great!

“Keeping it simple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2011

That's their motto at Avery's Kitchen, and they do a great job of "keeping it simple." The place isn't much to look at -- a very basic diner -- but the food is excellent and the service is friendly. At dinner, my wife had very good blackened mahi mahi, my son some tasty shrimp, my daughter a burger that she pronounced one of the best she's ever had (aside from the ones I grill at home -- she's very diplomatic), and I had a fried chicken dinner that was really outstanding. We went back a couple of days later for breakfast, which is a real bargain; I especially recommend the hashbrowns. Note that they now close early (at 3 pm) on Sundays and Wednesdays. Very worth a visit or two while you're in Port A.

Did not meet our expectations. Not a lot of food for the price.
