“Overpriced, old, outdated never used pool”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2010

We went to the Port Royal for several nights, the hotel room was extremely outdated, the couch was disgusting, the furniture on the patio dirty plastic with stains. The kitchen had plates and cups, no pans. The bedroom tv was tiny and on a cheap kmart stand. For the money, wow they should update and clean better. All over the smell of fish and shrimp, including the parking lot. Then we noticed their was trash cans overflowing everywhere. Not sure if i will go back, i hear there are nicer rooms, we had a2 bedrooms. The bathrooms were also hotel 8 like. Here they have the world largest pool, but there was so many people you could not enjoy it, so we went to the beach the whole time. Great beach, if you are going for the pool, go offseason.

Thank you for your feedback.

Although all of our condos are individually owned, we cannot really control how they are furnished and decorated. I would suggest using our online photo gallery, which features all of our units and photos of each room to request a unit for your next stay. Remember that these are requests and they can not be guaranteed, but we try our best to fulfill the requests as much as we can.

Like always, thanks and we hope to see you again.

My family and I stayed in a "Two Bedroom Penthouse" which was as far from a penthouse as possible. We paid extra to get a view of both the pool and beach but you cannot see the beach at all and only some distant waves in the ocean. We were the farthest building from the beach actually. The condo was very small and all of the furniture was dirty and smelled. The beds were very uncomfortable and the bed spreads had been there for many, many years. I understand that this resort is not new, but there is such as thing as renovation. The only saving grace was the pool, however, it was freezing so we weren't able to enjoy that either. Definately not worth the money!! There are many newer and more well kept condo's in Port Aransas.

This place was beautiful, clean and everything we hoped for. I did alot a research online to find a place to stay in Port Aransas. Even with all the hours of searching, you really never know what you are getting until you get there. What a great surprise we had!!

The condo was beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable and with an awesome view of the ocean. It was worth every penny! I found other places that were a little cheaper, but when we actually got down there, I was glad we decided to go with Port Royal. The buildings and grounds actually looked as good in person as in the pictures on their site. I can't say that for some of the other places I researched.

If you are looking for someplace to spend time with your family, this is a great spot!

My wife and I visit Port Royal once or twice each year.Even though there are two of us, we always book a 2 bed unit since they are much larger and have a fantastic large secluded patio/deck to sit on and enjoy the gulf views. We prefer the gulf side opposite from the pool , looking at the dunes and ocean - since it is so much quieter and no one can see us having candle lit dinners etc.

Port Royal is our favorite resort/hotel...no where can beat it! We spend part of our day by the pool ( the pool is the litereally best pool for hundred of miles), we walk the beach (it is a great beach for walking on - it stretches for miles and miles, and there are mile markers every 1/10th of a mile so you can see how far you have walked and hom nuch further to go!!...and we spend alot of time by ourselves on the large private deck that the two bedroom units have!

The extra price of a 2 bed unit it well worth it! ....the kitchens are large, the master bed is large , there is just a feeling of space.

i attended a modest sized (200 person) conference held here - it is very nice - the hotel does charge a $25 registration fee and requires one night's lodging plus tax as a deposit - they will refund the deposit given seven days notice less the $25 registration fee - the view of the pool was very nice - there was a problem with the air conditioner in the ballroom (it was working some but not at full capacity - the management worked hard to fix this problem) - i would stay here again

Just got back from Port Aransas and Port Royal. It came recommended by a few people and we had never been down there. Took our 2 kids for my birthday. Pool area is awesome with the 2 slides, the kids had a blast. Nice beach, watch out for jelly fish. Severl people got stung. Kids are 9 and 12 so we felt comfortabe with them running around on their own. Food at the restaurant was pretty good. Visit Shell's in town for a wonderful local menu, stay away from Fin's. Our2 bed 2 ba condo was decent enough, of course nothing like the picture on the website with the stainless steel appliances and marble counter tops. Pretty expensive for what you get but because of the pool I think it was worth it. Lot's of drinking going on and everyone there smoked so by the late afternoon you are surrounded by drunk people smoking like chimmney's and swearing like sailor's. But hey, if you're on vacation who gives a )*%%$. We will go back. Try to pack your own food the IGA there is crazy expensive. You can make up the cost of the condo by cooking your own food, they do have barbecques, a smoker and picnic tables to use, bring your own booze instead of the bar there. Mosquitoes were everyehere and we all got munched so bring OFF and sunscreen. Staff was ok, I was nervous after reading other posts here but it really was fun. Didn't see any roaches, I would recommend it.

Thank you for your review of Port Royal! Sorry about the mosquitos, it's that South Texas weather that keeps them around. We appreciate your feedback and we hope you return soon.

We started off standing in line for over 20 minutes to check in. It was 6 pm. There were 6 staff at the desk. Three were "helping" one family who had some kind of problem checking in. Two disappeared after helping that family never to return and get the lines moving quicker. No one ever said to all of us waiting that they were sorry for the delay or that they would be with us shortly or anything. When it was finally our turn, the guy never greeted us in any way or acted like he cared one way or the other that we had showed up. We were given 2 keys for 5 adults and told THREE times not to put the keys next to our cell phones or they wouldn't work.

When we did get our condo (2 bed/2 bath) it was fabulous. Recently redone with tile floors, marble walk in shower, granite kitchen and large flat screen TV. We have seen pictures from various condos here and they seem to vary greatly depending on what the owners do with them. We visited with the son of the owners in the next condo over from us and that one had a nice set up too.

It had recently rained in Port A, but I can't imagine that could account for the amount of mesquitos that were there. We had so many bites. I don't know what the remedy is, but they have got to find something. Bug spray does not deter those critters.

The security staff and house keeping staff were friendly. The pools and hot tubs were large and clean. It is a walk from your room to the beach if you are rolling a heavy cooler.

Everyone we met there from the recent Texas A & M graduates (here's our shout out to M, C, and D) to the ladies there with the grandkids were fun to be around.

I wouldn't pay the summer rates for Port Royal, but since we went after Labor Day and paid less, it was worth it.
