“Free way to spend an hour or so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We went with 3 small kids on a weekday. It's a free place with no guides or anything- you just stroll through and out around their outdoor trail at your own pace. The inside really only had 5-10 tanks with fish in them, and the little ones weren't really interested in stopping to read the facts about the coastal bend. It's free, and a good way to spend an hour or so, but if you are looking for an actual aquarium that is better suited for kids, you need to try the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi. (But its not free!)

“Wonderful and free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

This is a wonderous place and free - you can't get better than that! You'll see native fish and wildlife as well as skeletons of dolphins and whales. A great educational opportunity for the little ones.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

After reading positive reviews, we made a point of stopping here on our visit to Port A. It was very disappointing. It was difficult to see where to o, there were many empty display tanks, the computerized displays didnt work, the movie wasnt playing, the attendant was very unfriendly. We enjoyed wht little there was to see but there was very little. Don't bother going there.

“Great place to learn about the Coastal Bend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We visited in 2012 & came back again. There are free talks by knowledgeable professionals in the evenings. Nice guided wetlands tour by docent, Judy Perkins, from Mission-Aransas Reserve. Although a "Winter Texan" from Illinois, Judy knows Aransas.

“UT Marine Science Center - always on my list when I visit Port A”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

The wetlands always provide some interesting birds to watch. The lectures on Thursday nights are informative and my son loves the fish tanks in the lobby.
