“Great food, fast and friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

I was visiting a cousin in Plano and we went out to El Pueblito on Friday night. They've been going there for years and are part of the Friday night regulars.

On this night, very few of the regulars came in and there was no waiting to get inside to get a table. We got waited on right away and several of the staff came by to say Hi since they knew Christy and Steve.

The queso arrived shortly after we placed our orders and it was very good.

The food came just a few minutes later and it smelled, looked and tasted delicious. It's cooking very much like I'm used to on the south coast of Texas.

This isn't a big fancy restaurant with lots of decoration, just a simple small restaurant with great food and fast, friendly service. If you want good Mexican food without all the trappings of the big chains, this is the place to go. A family owned business that puts quality above quantity.

“Best Tex-Mex in Plano”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

This mom and pop restaurant is located in an older strip mall at the northwest corner of Alma and Spring Creek in Plano. Certainly not high-end, but the place is clean, the staff is exceedingly friendly, and the Tex-Mex is terrific. Most options in Plano and the Dallas suburbs are national chains...most of which seems to serve dumbed-down and bland food to accommodate families with children who fear any sort of flavor or spices. Much like going to Cajun restaurant where no one from Louisiana is eating in there is not a good sign, a Tex-Mex place devoid of anyone of Mexican descent is never a good sign (another trend at most of the chains). So, I knew the first time I went that the food must be good since half the patrons were of Mexican heritage. Nachos, enchiladas, chile rellenos are always good. Salsa that comes with the chips is quite spicy, flavorful, and addicting. Lunch specials are quite reasonable...$6-$7 range.

“Good neighborhood restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

You can not tell how good the food is from the outside, but it is VERY good. It is in a strip mall, but don't let that be a dissuading factor. The food was good, the service was fast, and the people were friendly. They do food to go as well, which as a mom of two little ones, that is sometimes the best option. I recommend this for people that like Tex-Mex quickly served with a smile.

“The Best Around Plano”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

Small neighborhood place, family owned, been going there a few times a month for the past 13 yrs. Food is fresh and excellent, margaritas and beef fajitas/ Juans Plate are amazing ! Highly recommended, although I was hesitant to write this review because it has been a hidden gem for the Plano residents for so long. Enjoy !

“El Pueblito ROCKS!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

I'm almost hesitant to wright a review because I'm afraid it will draw attention to this fabulous Tex Mex restaurant hideaway. This place is the awesome. The food is superb and the prices are very reasonable too!! I especially love the chicken fajitas. They always come to your table sizzling and hot and are delicious!! The enchiladas are to die for too. And talk about yummy, the Carne Asada is wonderful!! We have yet to eat anything there that wasn't delicious. The atmosphere is cozy as it’s a small little place but probably seats upwards of 40 people at any given time. And the entire staff is so friendly and welcoming!! That’s another reason why we eat here at least once a week. We used to go to the high-end Tex Mex places (Uncle Julio’s, Papasitos) but not anymore.....El Pueblito has won us as customers and we're so happy to have found this little nugget of Tex Mex in a strip shopping center nestled between a burger joint and a car garage. Well done El Pueblito and keep up the AWESOME work!!
