“Great South Indian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

We were a group of three and ordered the veg and non-veg thalis. The veg thali was ok but I really enjoyed the non-veg thali. There was a good variety of dishes and they all taste authentic. I'd definitely go back to try the other South Indian dishes there.

Great food and superb service! Very polite, prompt service. Really enjoyed our time with family there at dinner. It's great location for a work lunch as well.

“Food quality is not consistent”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

We use to like Chennai cafe for its quality food. Right now I see quality is going down. Their signature dish madurai chilli chicken is not up to the standard. Their paratha is really good.

I hope to see restaurant like anjappar coming to plano area to be check mate.

“Take it from Sam the Family Dosa Guy!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

The menu here is varied, unique and the food authentic. What I love the most are the south Indian specialties, which include Idlis, vadas and my favorite the Family Dosa. This is a thin crip sourdough crepe when folded about 3 feet long!!! Perfect everytime - cruncy, savory and best of all it is accompanied with REAL coconut chutney - not the fake kind with peanuts and other crap blended in. The water tastes a little funky - maybe they should invest in bottled water or a water purifier to remove the taste of the city tap water. The service is speedy and efficient - they take your order on a hand held electronic tablet and send it to the kitchen instantly while still at your table. The Biriyani is pretty good as well along with other unique items on thier menu that one cannot find at every Indian restaurant. Best of all the owner and staff make you feel at home and remember you by name.
