Went here for lunch at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. No one greeted us for quite a while, even though I was less than three feet from the young cashier. I finally asked if I could seat myself and she said yes. One of those "please wait to seated" v "please seat yourself signs" would have been helpful.
The menu is fairly complete for a diner and they serve breakfast "all day." The decor is folksy with classic Mama to child quotations on the walls and the servers shirts. Our tabletop was covered with a montage of Elvis pictures.
My wife had the patty melt with fries (they were sightly warm steak fries) and I had the Chicken and Dumplings - one of their daily specials. It came with a decent choice of sides, and I chose the mac & cheese, buttered corn, and green beans. One good point is that they have several different entree specials each day with paired sides and these are printed on the menu.
The service was good and the food was decent, but really of only average quality, texture and taste. Really nothing special. My wife and I decided that the average Denny's or Cracker Barrel had equal to better food.
I'd recommend going for the fun atmosphere and decent but unexceptional food. An average experience, but nothing special.
