I stayed here last night on my way back to New Mexico, decided to give it a try since the reviews of the other places were so mixed in both Pecos and Fort Stockton, & I've had bad experiences in Fort Stockton with dirty hotels. This was over $ 100.00 for 1 night. The good news is what was in the room was clean, but that's where it ends. The outside looks like a slum, see attached photos. The roof on one building is in serious disrepair. As I pulled up to the office I noticed the large, washing machine on the sidewalk at the office! Right in front of the place! Note the falling down fence in the backyard, the garbage piled up in back of the office near what is now the dirt-filled pool. My room was furnished spartanly with furniture that looked like it was taken from a thrift store or homeless shelter. There was no closet, no place to hang clothes. There was no iron, the front-desk said they didn't have any. The heating unit worked, but basically in on/off mode, if you set it to 70, it just ran and ran. If you turned it down to 58, it continued to run. So I turned it off. The town of Pecos is shockingly in disrepair. I've never seen such a slum. At least Detroit bulldozes buildings that are falling down to bare dirt. Much of the town has a post-apocolyptic look like the scenes from
'Mad Max, Beyond Thunderdome'. I was expecting to see Tina Turner, Master and Blaster at any time.
