“Beautiful outdoors.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

Lots of pretty flower gardens with walkways to make the touring easier. Don't miss the narrated tour on the bayou on an electric boat. Another " must see" is the rookery. Handicap access. A well thought out design.

“Same place as #1”

The place is the same as the first attraction listed. I loved the place and need to find somewhere like this closer to home.

“On my list”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

I have been planning a trip here for months. It was better than I expected. The egrets were nesting and the water reflections were beautiful. The flowers were nice and the landscaping was perfect. I would go back tomorrow if it was closer.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

We made a stop to Shangri La Botanical Gardens on our way to Louisiana on spring break and was pleasantly surprised. Grounds were well kept and gardens were so peaceful and colorful to walk through. You also get to see some wildlife though out the gardens. Make sure you visit the lake it is a great picture spot. Can't wait to go again.

“Shangri La Gardens - Orange, Texas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

Last weekend, our family decided to check out the Shangri La Gardens located in Orange Texas. My sister had visited last year and encouraged us to visit. A 2 hour day trip from Houston - easy access. Although it was an overcast day, the gardens are well kept and beautiful. Quiet, peaceful and interesting. Water features throughout the park, information center at the entrance explains how the park was started. Boat tour of the river for an additional charge - well worth the scenery. The walk along the 1 mile path through the gardens winds around several groupings, sculptures and a lake in the middle. At the far end of the park is a heron Sanctuary blind that was the highlight of the park. Able to view the nests and habits of the egrits, heron and others. If lucky you can spot an alligator trolling the water. Small cafe has snacks, drinks and tables inside and out. Benches located throughout the park. There are also picnic tables outside the main gate since outside food and drinks are not allowed in the park. The azeleas were just budding and should be in full bloom in a couple of weeks. Mid May would be a perfect time to go to see the flowers. Head East on I-10 and turn on hwy 87 for a wonderful delight. Bring a camera too. Be sure to watch the 8 min. movie about the park.
