“The Best in Odessa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

One of the best burger joints in Texas. Unfortunately I had to move from Odessa, but if I go back to visit I'm going to the White House!

“Burger Time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

What a great, but out of the way, hidden gem in Odessa! You know the beef is great when you order a burger in a butcher shop! Definitely fresh and made to order. Had to let burger cool down as it was right off the grill. On this holiday weekend people were coming in droves to pick up supplies for their own cook outs. You can't go wrong with this casual no nonsense place! If you haven't tried it definitely do!!!

“Old School Best Cheeseburgers in Texas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

White House Meat Market was founded in 1956 by current owner- Clint Fletcher’s Grandfather. In 1983 Clint’s father Olan Maney purchased the meat market from Clint’s Grandfather. Located towards the center of Odessa, it’s a little off the main drag but easy to find at 200 East 52nd Street. In 2001 the current owner Clint Fletcher partnered with his Father Olan and the rest is history. He currently has 14 local businesses that he oversees; that’s where having a good manager comes in, we met Jason Munos after our lunch. We didn’t want to slow him down, because besides having a great lunch and lunch crowd, they are still a full meat market as well as smoke house. And in December there is no idle time for the guys at White House Meat Market. Just while we were eating lunch they had dozens upon dozens of people picking up their Christmas smoked hams, turkeys, sausages, as well as some spectacular looking Porterhouses and ribeyes. Besides having a great selection of meat packages, for the holiday season they had a corporate package as well. Their meat market could be an entirely different article, but for now we need to talk about what we sank our teeth into for lunch.
We ordered a few things to try out. A hot grilled ham and cheese, a roast beef sandwich, The Cheeseburger, spicy curly fries and onion rings with a couple of soft drinks. Even with a bristling holiday crowd, we got our food in no time at all. While waiting we chose which picnic table graffiti’d with history of signatures we were going to sit at. The years of signatures, drawings and personal branding characterized the walls and ceilings with pride and nostalgia. As well as the countless awards.
The ham and cheese was anything but average. Served on toasted white bread the thick slices of smoked ham were nicely complimented by the American cheese melted to perfection. We particularly enjoyed how the ham was grilled enough to cause lace-like ham crispies throughout the slices. The roast beef sandwich was on a bun and there was no shyness to the proportion of lean, moist, perfectly cooked beef you get. The onion rings were hand dipped in a slightly sweet beer batter; deep fried until golden brown and sprinkled with salt. Ketchup was not needed to mask or enhance the flavor of these perfect portioned onion rings. Saving the best for last, and nothing short of fabulous was The Cheeseburger. Served on just a slightly toasted and greased bun, the perfectly textured, seasoned, cooked and mixed ground beef can only come from a place like this. Nothing frozen or fast formed here. The meat was substantial in size and more so in real honest flavor. Something we both noticed is how our meals were hot, but what was so refreshing and brought back those memories was the crisp, cold veggies that garnished them.
Clint and Jason, you not only have new lunch customers, you have new meat market and smokehouse customers as well. A rare talent for a job well done at White House Meat Market.
