“Breathtaking View of Guadalupe River”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2010

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gruene River Inn even though we only were able to spend one night. The room was attractive, very clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable--most important feature to us. The view from our balcony was breathtaking. We tubed down the river and had a great time since the river has some recreational rapids. The access to the river was convienent and the Rockin R outfitters were the best.
We enjoyed dining at the Gristmill Inn and listening to music and dancing at the Gruene Dance Hall. Overall, we had a wonderful time. We would spend more time there if we visited again. There were many shops and restaurants to check out if we had more time.

My husband and I recently traveled thru Texas for the first time. We stayed one night here in Gruene. It was late when we checked in and didn't have a reservation. They were so kind to us. The breakfast was amazing. The owner went out to his favorite breakfast taco shop and got us tacos. He also put out waffles, sweet rolls, muffins, cereal, fruit, coffee, etc. He was so welcoming and kind. The place is decorated in a comfortable yet beautiful way. You feel right at home. The rooms are large with a whirlpool tub and balcony overlooking the river. It's a short distance to downtown Gruene where the shopping and dance hall are located. This is a plus because you don't hear the traffic and music when you are sleeping.

My husband on leave from Gitmo and I getting away from all electronic gadgets and kids found this to be very relaxing and restful. It was like being home, creaks and all but I didn't have to do anything or clean anything! The tub was great for the two of us, even though my husband is 6'4"! and loved that never-ending hot water!. Great time and Fun!

The view is incredible...downhill from there! If you like plastic cups, forks, and plates, you'll love this. The breakfast was like that in a Best Western. The room...the bed squeaked, there was one chair for two people to enjoy the view. The walls were stark, bathroom sterile. The patio wasn't covered, so very limited on when you could sit there. This was definitely not a good value.

We loved our stay at Gruene River Inn. Lisa works the front desk and she was wonderful. She went out of her way to help us find destinations and recommended a great place to eat. Gruene Texas is wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the GORGEOUS Inn with it's GORGEOUS views for almost a week. For our honeymoon! :) It was absolutely perfect. From hanging out with the front desk comedian, Bill to walking over to Gruene Hall to listen to music, to the YUMMY breakfast tacos and tasty treats in the lobby! My Husband and I are saving to spend another week there A.S.A.P.! Next time we plan to hang out more down the secret trail at the water! GORGEOUS!!! Oh, and the tub...PERFECT for two!!! :) LOVED EVERY SECOND!

We pulled up to the Gruene River Inn and saw a 3 story, narrow, cyprus wood building not looking especially remarkable. The minute we walked in the door we knew it was wonderfully remarkable! We instantly felt "at home" as we were shown where to help our selves to fresh baked sweets, coffee, a refrigerator full of individual bags of ice, bottled water and soft drinks. Wine and beer are available for purchase at reasonable pricing. Our guest room, The Pecos, was absolutely, spotlessly clean. The bed very comfortable, the bathroom spacious and the gas fireplace deluxe!
We watched the sun set from our balcony and watched deer creep around the bank of the gently rippling river. Help-your-self breakfast of muffins, waffles, fruit, and breakfast tacos was wonderful!!!...and included in your room charge.
The only thing we didn't like is that we could not stay another night!
We are already planning our next getaway to the Gruene River Inn!
