We have an in-house butcher, home-made sausages, farm fresh vegetables, and pride ourselves on friendly service. We are known for our buffet which is definitely not your typical buffet. Nothing is pre-breaded or out of a can – it’s grandmothers cooking on a larger scale. If buffets aren't your thing we also offer a full menu filled with Southern favorites and a few German dishes. Don’t forget to leave room for our delicious desserts! We have an assortment of homemade pies, with buttermilk being our specialty.Come check out our full bar! With some of the coldest beer in town along with a fabulous atmosphere, Schobel’s is a great place to meet friends and unwind after a long day. We have happy hour specials Monday-Thursday from 4-6 pm.

“Family Friendly Home Cookin'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Stopped by for lunch, fresh cooked vegetables, corn, green beans, cabbage, carrots, large salad bar with lots of toppings, pea salad, carrot salad, several soups to choose from, and the desserts. We tried peach cobbler and buttermilk pie.

Many thanks for the glowing review, Sherry! We're thrilled that you chose to dine with us while in the neighborhood and that you enjoyed our many home-cooked offerings! Isn't the Buttermilk Pie just phenomenal? It's one of our favorites around here. Did you get to enjoy the view from the patio while you were here? If not, you'll have to come back in the fall when the leaves are changing. Thanks again for the kind words and we hope to see you again when you're in the area!

All the best,
The Schobel Family

“Great Food ... Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

We were thinking of stopping for lunch at the usual fast food restaurants and decided to give Schobel's a try! What a pleasant surprise ... a lovely building and place to sit outside. While it is a buffet ... you can eat healthy (or not) and the price was definitely worth it considering what you pay for greasy, unhealthy fast food. The wait staff treated everyone like family. We stop there everytime we go thru New Braunsfels now ...

“Very Good !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Had Sunday afternoon meal here with family and friends while visiting the area.
Charming old world style restaraunt with a nice fireplace in the foyer to warm you up on a cold winters day. I and several of my family and friends tried the buffet, even though there were several interesting looking entrees on the menu. Glad I did cause I was really hungry. There was a salad bar with lots of fresh crispy veggies and cheeses, very good chicken noodle soup and fresh baked rolls and biscuts for starters. The hot bar had some tasty fried chicken, good meatloaf, and a beef and noodle dish wich I did not try. The fresh steamed cabbage was very good and there were some great mashed potatoes and a lot of other side choices that were fresh and good. A lot of different desserts included that were yummy too.
Wife tried the country fried steak and mashed taters with green beens and loved it. The portion was huge and she had enough for another meal leftover.
The plase is sparkling clean and the prices are more than fair for what you get, and oh yeah good old service with a smile. You wont leave here hungry !

“Yummy food, great price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

We were on our way home from San Antonio and saw this from the road.. After some U turns and help from my iphone we made it there. We didn't really know what to expect and by looking at it I was worried that it would be expensive.. Thankfully it was very reasonable! It is on the river so we sat outside and enjoyed the view. We chose to eat from the buffet, b/c it had everything we would want to eat anyway. The place is very classy (but not stuffy) and very clean!! Everyone was very friendly. I wish they had one of these in East Texas!!

Oh and their bathrooms were SUPER clean, which earns extra bonus points in my book!!
