love the Comal River. My first tubing trip was July 3rd 2006 down the Comal We rented from from Texas Tubes I opted for the tubes with the bottoms attached later I was thankfull when we went through the tube shoots and the tube skidded over the rocks. Lots of people of all ages and fun was abundant. The Comal is cleaner and much much deeper, not to mention cheaper than other tubing rivers in the area.! The 2 1/2 hr tubing ride is great, it is so relaxing. The water is cool and the current is not to swift. The kida loved the tube chutes which are really fun! I would love to make this another weekend trips during this summer. I was not too crowded us and We did meet some nice people My kids thought rafting or boating was the only way to have fun in a river but they all loved this river tubing on the Comal !!!!Next time we will try to do it twice in the same day!

I would highly suggest tubing down the comal. It has always been a favorite since I was little. I'm now 16 and work at the comal tube rentals. When I was younger, it was always fun to go down and swim in the super clear water.
I might also suggest the Guatalupe river if you want to go on a faster ride, and be sure to tube it away from the holidays if you bring kids, some people get a little too drunk and you don't want to deal with that.
Maybe you could put in a good word for Mike if you tube with Comal tube rentals?

Each summer (FOR MANY YEARS) my family and I go to the Comal river and stay at the River Run condos we stay 3 nights during the week, usually tues -thurs and we spend all of our time floating the river. The weekdays are less crowded and August is the best month to go. The condos are WONDERFUL!!!!! And they are right on the water. The Comal is just slow enough to enjoy and just rough enough to have a hell of A good time. You could not ask for a more relaxing vacation. Texas Tubes is right next door and they are always so polite and accomidating. Try it and you will love it!!!!

I love toobing down the Comal! For a while there, my husband and I were river rats. We couldn't get enough of it. We were willing to drive from Houston to go toobing for the weekend. New Braunfels is such a nice town and so laid-backed that it makes the toobing experience so much more enjoyable. We now live in Austin and enjoy going toobing. Maybe we'll settle in New Braunfels one day! I hope everyone has a great time toobing down the Comal! There is absolutely no better way to relax than toobing. All we have to do now is find a water-proof radio so we can listen to music. Happy toobing, river rats!
