“If you love Texas history ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Very well-done and beautifully kept. Sam Houston was here, and here he "converted" to Catholicism. Excellent collection of older history.

“Wine Swirl Stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Texas' first wine cellar is housed below the tremendous library. Plus famous historical subjects from Sam Houston to Davy Crockett have been entertained on the property.

“Beautiful home and yard....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

We stopped by to learn a little Nacogdoches history. It is a small museum and library. Admission is free. It is located right near the historic downtown. The yard is gorgeous with large shade trees, flowering shrubs. I could sit on the wide front porch all day, but they provide no chairs for doing so, nor benches in the yard. That was a disappointment. Quiet area. Parking lot adjacent.

“Lovely Old Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We really enjoyed comparing the 1890s home we own in Connecticut with this house. That may well have increased the level of interest we had in the home. It is well preserved and the docent was able to answer most of our questions.

“A good example of early Texas living”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

A very friendly and knowledgable docent gave us an interesting tour and discussion. This is a good place for folks who are interested in east Texas history. Probably not so much for the younger children. Plan to spend about 30 minutes to an hour
