“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

This was our third time in Mineola for an annual event. The prior two times we stayed in Lindale mostly due to the fact that this Best Western was overpriced and the choices for this little city are limited. This year I was able to get a decent rate and was so very looking forward to staying so close to our event AND for staying at a hotel that had a outdoor hot tub. We arrived and were immediately disappointed to see the pool and the hot tub with big blue tarps. Either they were down for the season (does a hot tub have a season?) or they were broken. I didn't even ask; what good would it do? The clerk was pleasant enough. She did instruct us that when dealing with the lock on our door, it could be tricky. "Just keep working with it and it will eventually close". "Does it lock? Is it safe", I ask. "Oh yes", she replies. Basically my complaints about this hotel are: (1) hot tub unavailable (2) door to room messed up (3) had to kill a large roach running around the edge of our room (4) the TV channels are ridiculous. Most of the channels were unable to be viewed (5) shower/tub. I basically raced through my shower because I felt so guilty for the gushing water out of the spout AND shower. Why bother with the little notes about not getting a clean towel to save water when you have no water saving device on your shower? It gushed to the point that the drain couldn't keep up with the water and so my feet got a bath. Still. They seriously need to get a water saving shower head. Come on BW, save some water. (6) the orange juice was so diluted it barely had a citrus flavor. IF we decide to stay here next year, I will call ahead about the hot tub availability and if water saving measures have been put in place. And we would skip the typical bland breakfast and opt for donuts.

My wife and I wanted to visit the Mineola, TX area. I researched hotels, on line, in the area and found this Best Western. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and clean. The bathroom had a large counter space. The shower was good. Breakfast was as good as some of the other hotels where we stay. we will definitely stay here if we°re ever in this area again.

The hotel is spotless and the rooms are very comfortable. We stayed in the king suite..although not a complete suite, it suited us perfectly as we were traveling with a younger child. The staff was helpful and very polite. They were always busy working, but always with a smile and pleasant greeting. Coming from a city, it was so refreshing to have small town hospitality!!

We stopped overnight in Mineola while visiting relatives in the area. This area of eastern Texas has a lot of small towns so we were surprised to find a big chain hotel here. This Best Western was very nicely decorated, service was great, and the rooms were comfortable and clean.

We travel to East Texas to visit family a few times a year. When we can, we book a room at the Best Western in Mineola, Texas. The rooms are always clean and the staff are all very friendly. The do not have a restaurant on site. However, downtown Mineola has quite a few to choose from. You can also enjoy the antique shops while you're there.

Room Tip: There is not a restaurant on site at the hotel. However, there are quite a few really good restauran...

I would like to say that the rooms were great, but average will have to do. That's not a bad thing, just truthful. The room is clean, the bedding is sparkling and like new and the bathroom is very nice. The TV and Internet reception is spotty at best. Stains on the hallway carpet by the elevator and bath mats in the elevator with a 'slippery when wet' sign were disconcerting.
Now to the really great part. The staff is wonderful. From the front desk to the hardworking maids, I never heard a harsh word. They all greet you with a smile and go out of their way to serve you.
I would stay here again based on the people alone.

Excellent value. Great staff that goes above and beyond. Facilities are kept very clean. The breakfast bar had a nice variety and also appeared fresh and appetizing. Check-in was quick, informative and easy.
