“A Great Statement”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

The Triangular Lodge is a great statement of faith. While Wikipedia notes it as a folly, it is more, it is in fact a great statement, both religious and political by its builder. The Holy Trinity is evoked in every aspect, from the 33 foot walls, to the three windows on each face of each the three floors.

It is a truly fascinating place to visit, and the more you explore, the more symbols you can discover.

“Quirky and unexpected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

What a find! This very quirky lodge suddenly appears tucked behind a wall on a very unassuming B road. Although small it has a wealth of history attached to it and anyone fascinated by numbers/codes will derive even more satisfaction than just the obvious architectural delights.

“Very very interesting....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

This is a site to visit if you really do enjoy history and symbolism.
Practicalities:
Parking is tricky....watch children carefully.
No toilets.
No cafe.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
What you get from this site depends upon what you are prepared to put in in terms of investigation and imagination.
You will forever be haunted by the number 3!
TEACHERS: Entry is free for school visits.....just think of the Maths possibilities!

“Triangular Lodge, Rushton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Very unusual small building with a fascinating history. It's part of a much larger estate although the building itself is very small. The assistant was knowledgeable and able to give a summary of the brochure content.

“Hidden History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

I am loathe to review this lodge as it's a hidden gem. The more reviews, the more visitors. Great for English Heritage, but rather spoils my 'exclusive' historical building.

If you're looking for something on the scale of Burgled you'll be disappointed. This is a small lodge on three floors with loads of hidden religious symbolism built into the triangular building. The visitors centre isn't much to write home about, ice creams and a few EH souvenirs in the porta-cabin, but the lady that runs the place for EH is fantastically knowledgeable ands welcoming.

Look out for the priest hole on the first Floor. I'm not convinced it is a priest hole as it's too exposed, but it's fun the shut the kids in.

Ask about the rumours of the secret tunnel between the lodge and the house (now a fabulous, and fabulously priced, health club, restaurant and spa). There have been excavations before but they didn't find the tunnel. Time for another try I think.
