“Relaxing hotel - excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012 via mobile

Overall very good hotel, clean, modern and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful - especially staff in restaurant. Plenty of sunbeds and a real plus was that they didn't allow sunbeds to be reserved which meant that you didn't have to get up at 6 to reserve one. Food was excellent and varied with a number of speciality nights and lots of healthy options. The pizza was fantastic and pool bar food was also of a good standard. My only suggestion for improvement would be to open the pool bar in an evening, it was a bit too hot to sit inside and one of the pluses of going abroad is the ability to sit outside in the evening. Request a room with a view of golf course if you can - definitely best view - the front of our room opened onto pool area however balcony was a view of the road. Not that much of an issue as spent so little time in room but if you can get a view of golf course you may use balcony more! Overall hotel very good and nice relaxing atmosphere - would definitely recommend if you want somewhere in a quieter part of resort.

Just got back from a week stay at the Marylanza, the rooms were a lovely size and seem to have all you need in them. Unfortunately the beds were awful they were hard and uncomfortable. Plenty of food at breakfast time but lunch and dinner the food seemed to be the same thing night after night, I am a fussy eater but my other half would pretty much eat anything and some nights even he struggled so we went out for dinners. Pool area was nice but as usual you go to get a sunbed and people have placed there towels on there at stupid o'clock in the morning. When we first arrived we were given a map to our room which is difficult to find when its so dark, thankfully some nice young lad helped us out and found our rooms for us. Staff were friendly enough the childrens entertainer Dana was brilliant the kids loved her. This hotel is probably ideal for people with younger children not much to do for the older children. Our room overlooked some building work that was being done over the road and although I am fully aware the hotel have no control over this we did request a room with a pool view and a double bed, we received neither. I have never stayed at a 4 star hotel and then had to pay for your rental towels to be cleaned and pay for a safe. Overall I think the Marylanza is long way off from being a 4 star.

The star system (Marilyn, we still love you 50 years later!) determines the facilities and services that are required to be classified within a specific category. Any client at Marylanza must be confident that there are at least those for a 4-star rating, plus the many additional features which make our hotel unique. No imagination is needed, that makes some people expect what never was offered. Even though we put great attention to our clients’ requests, it is not always possible to comply with them, especially when less than 10% of our rooms are pool view, while a much greater percentage of our guests request that room type. The challenge is even greater if additionally a double bed is requested, for all our rooms have twin beds.

I must say we were slightly worried after reading 1-2 of the previous reviews, however after returning just this morning ALL of my family really enjoyed this Hotel, it's facilities and the Food. The staff are just brilliant - with nothing being too much trouble at all- we stayed in room E205 which over looked hole 1 of the golf course - Awesome, Paula at the pool bar was terrific and always cheerful! The Spa is 1st class and well worth the 15 euros for the 2 hour taster session.
Ensure you visit Siam Park - This place is truly something else but ensure you do the following:
1. Get there early (9am)
2. Buy the Fast Pass tickets and use after lunch when the park is much busier

We went on the half day mount tiede excursion but found it very expensive for what it really was - hire a car and drive there !!!!!!!
The hotel is great and very laid back, the entertainment at night is ok but whatever you do don't miss the Beatles Tribute Band - These guys were brilliant!
Enjoy this 4star brilliant hotel

Arrived and requested a room change from ground to level two with a better view (golf course) sorted the very next day. Reception staff were so helpful throughtout the holiday, that included all hotel staff.
Food selection was varied and always a good quality. Room cleaned to a very high standard daily, with towels also being changed.
Air con should have been on in the reception are at night that would make the nice drink at the end of the day more comfortable.
Entertainment was not of a good standard, and needs to improve to keep the customer base happy (or is it the plan to get them to go out at night!!!!)
Overall one of the very best we have stopped in when coming to the island. Do not hesitate to book this hotel for value for money.

Room Tip: Quite rooms block C. Great views of the course from 2nd floor. Do not reserve your beds before 09.00...

We stayed in the Marylanza in July of this year. We had contacted the reception in advance to pre book a poolside room at on addional cost. The room was lovely and opened onto the smaller pool, a great location. The rooms are large and contain everything you neen, the beds were so comfertable I had the best sleep for years ( we requested extra pillows which were brought right wayay by housekeeping) This was not such a good room the next week when we returned to find our window had been opened from the outside and our laptop, ipod and some money had been stolen. We spent 3 hours in the police reporting it with the hellp of a lovely girl from reception who's help was invaluable. The first choice rep was also great bring her phone charger everyday for by daughter (they stole her phone charger as well!)
The restaurant and nearly all the waiting staff were fantastic especially the lady who made the omletes in the morning...always a happy smile. The food was excellant and I must have gained a few pounds. One member of the restauant staff spoiled it for us, we had made a reservation at the Kentia restaurant during our first week for our last night with this lady who works in it.She was quite cheeky asking us if we had read the menu and would we like the food, she then booked it and gave us a note of the date and time. When we arrived on the night she told us in front of eveyone we had not booked it for that night (as if we were stupid) I told her she had took the booking so we went to check. She returned to say we could the next night - no apology - and tried to blame someone else. Very disapointing.
On the whole it was still a great holiday, beautiful hotel, fantastic staff (apart from one) and would return in the future.

When I personally checked the window along with our maintenance manager, we did (and still do) not understand, if left closed as confirmed by the clients and even if it had been forced, how the window would open horizontally, which is the position which would allow a person to get in, when at the moment of testing it would only allow the vertical one, where it is physically impossible to fit in. The police made a research and were not able to determine how this was possible either.

At Kentia we offer a very interesting and innovative sampling menu, but it is not for everyone’s taste so we encourage the waiters in charge of the reservations to ask if the menu has been checked in order to avoid disappointment to our guests. This is a usual procedure and I regret the misimpression received. As for the problem with the reservation I cannot give much information on that, but it must have been a misunderstanding and I regret again the wrong impression and apparent embarrassment, for I am more than confident that this lady’s aim was a different one. As a matter of fact the ticket which is given when booking the Kentia restaurant is meant as a reminder, but also to avoid misunderstandings.

In any case, should they decide to revisit Tenerife and our hotel, we would again do our best so that their experience be not almost, but just perfect.

Went with my wife and 7 year old to the Marylanza and i must say we were all impressed. Food was very good and local drinks were ok but the wife would have died for a cider. Service was very good and always willing to help. One little negitive was that the pool area was a little crammed in and the usual had to be up at 8am to get the bed you wanted, apart from that we had a great time.

spent 7 days at Marylanza in July 2012 with our 2 boys ages 11 & 9. We were nervous about going all inclusive as we have always booked nice hotels in Florida and eaten out at good restaurants, we were pleasently surprised. The resort is small and friendly and is a paradise if your kids like activities, the leisure host Dana is exceptional and never rests, The food in the main restaurant is fantastic, as i said we always go 4 star plus and i would recommend the food here to anyone. The 3 pools are excellent and cater for all ages, a great gym and spa, backed up with squash and golf make this an active time. Alternatively you can relax and watch the twice weekly fashion parades or browse the jewellery stalls that are invited in at a gentle pace duiring the evenings, all of which takes away any isolation, We had a problem with a lock on the door and 2 engineers were there within 3 minutes, service all week was excellent, Nightime entertainment is a little hit and miss but good for young children, Siam Park (best water park in Europe) comparable to Floridas Aquatica is 10 minutes away of 5 minutes on the free shuttle. All in all a fantastic holiday, recommended to our friends and they went in August, we have both booked to return next year, cant say fairer than that

Room Tip: all room around pools and central
