“Had a ball”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2007

Three girls went for birthday celebration. We had a ball except for the staff being so cranky all the time couldnt talk on the phone in our apartment at night because security would knock at the door and tell us they were ringing the police. We were terrified to make a sound on our way back from nightclub incase we got into trouble.Other than that we would definitely go back to tenerife as the people we met were great and loved partying.yee-haw!p.s. polly had a ball!!!!!!!!

Me and 4 other girls all aged 17 went. It was absolutely brilliant, a couple of minutes walk from the beach, veronicas strip and all the other bars and clubs. The 'big hill' they talk about is nowhere near as bad as it sounds and if you cant be bothered walking up, get a taxi, from veronicas will cost only about 3 euro.
The hotel itself is good, clean and staff go unnoticed unless you need anything. The pool always has people in it but its not packed as you might expect with a large hotel like caribe. We were on the 2nd floor so wasn't much hassle going to our room however we had mates on the 5th floor and waiting for the lift did become annoying. Just hope you aint on the 7th floor!
We had a fantastic holiday, meet lots of great people and cant wait to go back sometime in the future! enjoy!

We picked up a seriously cheap package in the Budget Travel sale. Two adults and a child, two weeks self catering in May only 770 euro all in and that included day flights.

With some trepidation we arrived at the Caribe apartments in Playa Los Americas and were pleasently surprised. On check in they require a 100 euro deposit and they take your passport to process your details. Then they give you back your passport next morning. It really speeds things up (unlike a previous holiday when everyone was checked in fully and it took 2 hours). The room was basic but very clean. The bathroom was spotless and we had a balcony with sea view. My two year old slept on the sofa bed and my wife and I had a twin room. The rooms have a tv but you have to pay 2 euro a day for the signal which is controlled from reception. The rooms also have a safe and when i asked about the fee, the receptionist said 40 euro for two weeks including a refund of 10 euro when the special attachment came back. I was not impressed and then she said it was 30 euro which I accepted.

We were there early in the season so it has some relevence, but the resort was empty and I mean that. The pool only had, at most, 10 people around it and the pubs of the resort were seriously quiet.

The apartments are about ten minutes walk from the sea front and the notorious "Veronicas" strip. This is just a collection of bars which I can be very dodgy late at night.

We ate out in loads of places and it varied from getting ripped off to finding some little gems. Right next to the apartments are 3 restaurants where the food is wonderful and very cheap. Just look for all the taxis parked outside. It is where the locals go. You would be crackers if you missed them. Just down the road is Los Cristianos and while Los Americas is ok, Cristianos is super. Americas is best described as a resort built for tourists and Cristianos is where the people live. It has some really classy shops and is beautiful. It is very different from the usual shops full of cameras and dvd players.

One word of warning though. When you step out of the apartment you can go straight down to the seafront or turn left towards a parallel road to the sea front. That road to the left has been the scene of several muggings, but only in the early hours of the morning.

With my daughter being only three, we decided to take a cab to the airport to beat the crowds. It only cost 25 euro and it was well worth it. Reception can book one for you. Watch out for your baggage weights though. Futura charge every cent they can for excess baggage.

We loved Tenerife and the Castle of San Miguel was a wonderful trip as was loro parque. The penguins have a special enclosure that simulates the antarctic and with a window that shows above and below the waterline, I dont know who was more mesmerised, me, or my daughter.

Another good day out is the aqua park. They charge 3.50 for a sunbed and food is very expensive, so bring a picnic.

I look forward to going back next year and while Los Cristianos is my first choice, The Caribe Apts in Los Americas would do me fine.
