“great holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

Just back from holiday in Tenerife. Stayed at the los Cardones a lovely wee hotel. The complex consists of bungalows and mines was fine, 2 sunlongers. 4 chairs and table. All essentials in the kitchen couldn't have asked for more. Cleaners in most days. Reception not open all the time but there is a number if you need them. The hotel is so quiet and really central, a 10 min walk either way veronica's or the strip. The strip is so good lots of pubs and different acts every nite. But a must if you go is Jeff Layton who plays in the Brahms and Liszt on a sat nite. Will be going back there next year lovely place.

Positive Aspects
1)A comparative oasis of calm, compared to Las Piramides, where I stayed 10 years ago (nights rendered sleepless by heels clumping along corridors, noisy upstairs neighbours, doors slamming, loud conversations etc). There was very little noise on site at Los Cardones - most noise comes from outside the complex (bars and restaurants if you're near the main entrance, some voices heard from the pedestrain alley-way at the side of the site, but nothing too extreme)
2)No noisy pool-bar on site - thank goodness!
3)Pool adequate for size of complex and plenty of loungers.
4)Our upstairs studio (64S) had a good sized balcony and was very good for proper self-catering - 4-ring cooker with oven, kettle, toaster, microwave and sufficient pots and utensils.
5)Hot water always available and WC, shower and fridge all worked fine.
6)Sheets/pillows/towels clean and of good quality. Regularly changed. Very good mattress.
7)Good bright lighting in the studio.
8)Good supermarkets within 5 minutes' walk. We went mostly to SuperDino. You can also get buses to most places from the same location. (Don't forget to get your BonoBus discount card if you plan to use buses a fair amount. A whole family can use the same card - no need to get one per person. A shop opposite SuperDino sells them or you can get them from a main bus station. See the TITSA website for details.)

Negative aspects.

Very few, really. And only minor ones.
1)True that reception doesn't seem to be open very much and, had some guests not been coming out of the complex when we arrived, we would have had to phone up the number at the gate. Otherwise, we had very little to do with management, which is usually a good sign that we are contented.
2)No air-conditioning, just a fan.
3)Bring a universal plug or 2. We found that the sink didn't have a plug at all and the bathroom one didn't fit very well. Luckily, we are seasoned self-caterers and they were on our holiday list!

Summary.
We had upstairs studio 64S. All in all, excellent value for money and would happily go back to Los Cardones.

Room Tip: Ground floor studios in our little block are probably a little larger, but some of them are a little...

Hello everyone!
Myself and my boyfriend are a young couple and we booked to stay at Los cardones. I never write reviews but this needed to be done.
When we first arrived we thought uh oh what is this it's so quiet and the gate is locked! So we took the side entrance and went in. No one was at reception and we had to gaff about calling people for an hour or so in the end we got hold of the receptionist and turns out we had to call the number on the gate and the reception should have been locked so that was our fault and whoever left it open! Anyway we stayed in a studio with a pool view which we asked for which was fab! The cleaners were round everyday unless you asked them not to be with the sign you can put on the door! It's located about 1-2 min walk from the beach and follow the coast right to playa or left to Los Cristianos (both are stunning) the best place to eat cheap and beat food is the Aberdeen steak house it's amazing friendly staff and lovely! We had 2 course dinner and 2 cocktails and 2 beers for €37. Do not go to the Chinese on the front with the fancy cocktails we had 2 drinks for €16.50!!!! Anyway back to the hotel. It was clean and sheets changed twice a week! The shower we expected to be crap but it wasn't it was hot and powerful all the time! Sometimes to powerful but you can change that. On the last day it did seem that something had fallen out and it was to pressured but was hot all week. The pool in the pictures looked small and rubbish but it wasn't it was actually very big and peaceful. Always enough sun loungers around and was clean :) they have a little pool for children as well. The one thing I would say about the hotel is we only sore the receptionist 3 times in a week and that was in passing never actually at the reception unless arrivals but the cleaners were friendly and about and in all fairness if u needed the receptionist you could call and he would be there in a flash! On our last day we didn't fly untill late and he let us stay in our studio all day for free! Which was nice of him but don't think he wanted to come to work and look after our bags! Lol. There is a safe in the room and u get your €10 back at the end which is great so it's only €5 for the week. The complex is very near to everything so it's a win win for all ages!! Excellent and would definatly go back again! :) x

Nicely hidden away from main strip, compact bungalow and studio village! Rooms slightly outdated but had all appliances needed. Staff were rude, unpredictable and lied; 'free wifi', that we could easily extend our stay for an extra day as evening flight. turned up to open reception at whatever time suited the staff. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

We stayed at Los Cardones between 27.06-04.07. The apartments are good, very clean, and beds are really comfy. Only problem we had was that when we arrived, the reception was closed. There is an emergency contact number, but neither of us had roaming as it is expensive, and as freshly arrived to Tenerife, we did not have euro coins to use a phone box. We then decided to go back to the reception area and sit down outside hoping that someone will come. That's when I realised that our keys and a map was left for us on the top of their post box :) on our way to the room, the reveptionist decided to turn up and told us that he was expecting for our call( haha). There was nobody at reception at check out, so we had to leave keys in their post box. Check out was at 12, and our flight was at 6 o'clock. We couldn't leave luggage at reception as there was nobody there, and the previous day the receptionist did say that he will definitely be there, and we will be able to leave the luggage there. Luckily people from Tenerife are very helpful. Just outside Los Cardones there's a stall "Gooozy Travel" that sells tickets for all activities, we got all our tickets from there, they ( Pablo and Tina) have us very good prices, and we also left the luggage there for few hours until our airport shuttle arrived. When asked the receptionist for wifi, he entered the code himself into our device, and said that all hotels charge €30/week for wifi, he made us feel like he was doing us a favour. And wifi only works near the reception, it doesn't work in the rooms. Anyway, there is free wifi just across the road from Los Cardones in the restaurant called Los Angeles. Their food is lovely, we had breakfast there every morning. We also had food from El Americano (3mins from the hotel) and La Barca and can reccomend both. There is a not at reception which says that room is only cleaned 4times/week, towels changed 3times/week and sheets changed twice/week. Our sheets were never changed in 1 week, but that didnt bother us much. I can highly reccomend the 4hour teide quad tour, it's amazing, you go above the clouds with the quad bike. We also tried jet sky safari , parascending, the boat trip, we went to Siam and loro park, and we enjoyed them all. Overall our holiday was very good, and would definitely return.

Hard to believe places like this still exist. Rented bungalow 27d for 10 nights. Spotlessly clean accommodation. Peaceful location - yet everything "just around the corner". Lovely pool-again-so clean. Great maid service. Oh so helpful Fabre - on site Manager - nothing too much trouble. Special mention on the bed linen- so soft! The pillows, so far removed from the usual lumps. Comfortable mattresses. Free book library too. Flat screen TV. Modern easy to use Safe in room. No wonder this place is in demand - bookings for next year already. A very secure and safe place to stay, at the foot of the steps to the left an excellent Italian - Sugar & Spice". Opposite - Los Angeles for a terrific breakfast and very good value. Tucked in corner across road to left - very good shop/baby supermarket. Left and across road about 200 yards take a right. Marias - had a 16euro pedicure from Kimberley, excellent job and made to feel very welcome. Terrific Mexican restaurant "Santa Fe" - right out of apartments, left at the casino and right - tucked away down steps in a corner. Gazpacho soup best ever tasted, margeuritas sublime and melt in mouth fahitas. Tip- Place to steer clear of Vilaflor restaurant on seafront, not nice. Let's just say we were a tad ill on their glass of sangria and let's just say the staff - apart from the lovely Chinese girl out front - are frighteningly hard nosed.

Room Tip: Rooms around the pool are spacious and lovely
