“Enjoyable...People are too picky!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

I visited Las Piramides for a week all inclusive in mid September, just me and my boyfriend. (19 & 20 years old) Before heading on holiday we were a but skeptical about this hotel but its perfectly fine. We have no major negatives about the hotel... The rooms are spacious and our room looked onto reception so we had to close our curtains when getting changed. Our room was clean other than a little bit of mould on our curtain which isn't going to kill us!!! They are cleaned every single day with mew towels too. For all inclusive you are well looked after. You are fed well and very often! there is a variety of food, catered for vegetarians and children. The pools area is lovely. We spent most of our time around the main pool and we didn't have to queue for beds at all!!some days we didn't get down there till 11am and got 2 beds straight away! Location is absolutely perfect. 2 mins from the beach and the strip. The strip is very english orientated and there are many english restaurants & pubs. Please do not listen to any negative reviews. If your looking for an enjoyable hotel that is situated close to everything with a clean bed. Then this is perfect. People are way too picky. After all this is only a 3 star hotel.

First and foremost, this part of Tenerife is more suited to younger groups of friends than families with young children. I went to fuerteventura last year and for the same money you get a lot more / a nicer hotel and all inclusive etc.
Playa de las Americas is all about the nightlife - and this hotel caters for that. You are a few minutes walk from the strip of bars and a basic beach. A slighter longer walk (~10mins) is a nicer beach and more up market restaurants / bars etc.
Location is great for this.
The room is basic, no air conditioning - but we stayed middle September and sleeping with the balcony door open and keeping the curtains drawn in the daytime (2nd floor) made it cool enough to sleep etc. I saw some people get fans from reception but we didn't need it. The shower was powerful, and the room / bathroom was big and clean. The notice said they cleaned the room every day, changed the bedding and towels once a week - but oddly we found they changed the towels everyday but only cleaned and made the beds every other day. No bother as I prefer clean towels to a made bed.
The room had a fridge, kitchen sink, and mini hob although we were all inclusive so only used the fridge for water and chocolate :).
The TV is pay as you go with a coin slot - 50cents per half hour. Some English channels available.
We had all inclusive, which was fine. Again fairly basic but to be fair you can't expect too much for such a cheap package deal!

The breakfast buffet:
Fruit table
Cooked breakfast selection (baked beans, sausages, bacon, eggs fried, hard boiled or scrambled, cooked tomatoes etc.)
Other cooked items like pancakes and spanish omelette
Tea / coffee / juices
Cereals
Pastries
Breads and a toaster

Pool bar snacks: Only thing which was a bit disappointing, but if you get up too late for breakfast that's the price you pay until lunchtime :)!
Dried up ham and cheese sandwiches under a heat lamp
cheese & tom pizza slices (were ok)
dried up looking hot dogs, buns, onions

All inclusive drinks:
All day long (until 11pm) you can have any local alcoholic drink (wine, beer, spirits) and soft drinks
Also do all inclusive mini pots of strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate ice cream

Lunchtime and dinner time (very similar):
fruit table
Salad bar (sweet corn, onion, lettuce, cucumber...a bit dried up but dig to the bottom, chopped tomatoes, olives etc.)
Mixed salad bar (coleslaws, and pre mixed salads, fresh avocados and mangoes to take and prepare yourself)
Cheeses and hams
Pasta and selection of 2 sauces (at least one always vegetarian)
chips or cooked potatoes
Huge paella thing to help self to
"nice" cooked meats - fish in sauce, chicken / turkey / beef portions sometimes plain other times in sauce
"processed" meats - fish fingers, chicken nuggets, battered squid rings
Bread station, fresh baguettes and butter
2 soups to choose from (at least one always vegetarian)
desert table - ice cream, cakes, fruit salads

I found the staff all very helpful and nice, especially the reps in the hotel reception - we shopped around the attractions etc. and everywhere gives the same price
Also there's a little supermarket inside the hotel which again is fairly priced and not trying to rip you off (although bottled water is slightly dearer than local supermarkets ...supermarkets NOT corner shops note! But it's worth it for a small lug back to the room)

In the reception there are pay as you go internet computers if you want to access emails / facebook etc.

The whole place does end up cluttered with used paper cups from the all inclusive as other guests tend to just leave them lying around in the evening time and not put them in a bin - but by the next morning it is always cleared away.

The pool is ok. Much smaller than the pictures, but to be fair this isn't really a family hotel so it's alright for adults only. I think children would be bored here.

Other than the hotel:
Definitely recommend doing the catamaran cruise to see the whales and dolphins (be warned though the "all you can eat paella, rice, salads, bread etc." is not all you can eat or that varied. It is a tiny portion of chicken paella, 1 piece of chopped tomato and raw onion, and a tiny piece of stale bread. This was not good for me as a vegetarian but I've had this happen on boat trips before so took a cheese roll with me which I made from the breakfast buffet. Also you can buy ice creams on board. The all you can drink bar however is true!!! Plenty of beer wine and sangria and soft drinks which was wonderful. The dolphins were amazing and made it worth it, and we had a little conga line and dance off to the music on the way back to port.

Massively recommend Siam Park (better than aqualand which we drove past and paled in comparison just by looking at it.) The adult flumes are AMAZING. Big wave machine to rival Florida's typhoon lagoon. AMAZING kids water park area with lots to do. Gentle doughnut ring rides for the fainter hearted. On site restaurants are a bit pricier than the rest of Playas de las Americas so take home made / supermarket bought if you are on a budget. Free bus there and back to lots of points around town.

If you go - have a fab holiday!

a year on and just returned from another great holiday. must admit that our original room was situated right above the main entrance and we heard every coach and taxi pull up to drop off and collect so didn't get much sleep the first night. we expected to have to cause a fuss to move rooms, but a simple request was dealt with by mid-day and the room we were moved to was by far the best we've seen in the hotel in three visits. the location of the hotel is perfect for those who fancy a night out. 800mtrs from veronicas strip and 800mtrs from the gaelic corner and lots of smaller quieter bars

Room Tip: always ask for rooms in a quiet part of the hotel, but its always pot luck who's around you

Before heading on holiday, I read many reviews on this site about las piramides hotel and luckily I like to make my own judgement but still had reservations prior to reading the reviews. I have to say however, I actually really enjoyed it.

My sister and I are both in our 20s and would definitely agree with previous comments about it being more suited to a younger crowd, the pool was packed daily with hungover sun worshippers (myself being one of them) and the noise levels on an evening at the bar area and around the pool up until midnight probably wouldn't impress those with small children or couples opting for a quieter holiday. This said, the location is ideal if you, like many are looking to make the most of the all inclusive drinks until 11 and then venture down to Veronica's strip.

Yes the queues were long for drinks at the bar on an evening (all inclusive regulars should know this is the norm)...but overall the staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and the food (although lacking in imagination in some ways) caters for everyone's taste and the salads are fresh.

All I can say is give it a go, we were happy and planning to return next year. Fab budget place, wouldn't take my 3year old personally but great for a couple who want somewhere with a bit of atmosphere or a group of mates :)

Room Tip: Ask for pool view as some had road side or view of the interior courtyard which isn't the best f...

Just had a week here and thought it may be ok even though there are numerous bad reviews but i can see now why this hotel has so many troubles.
The positives we had were reception was ok with us, the room was large and cleaned every day but that's where it ends.
For a hotel which offers ALL INCLUSIVE, it goes out of its way to make sure you dont stay drinking in there too long, this is done by minimal seating outside at night, the bar indoors has no air con even though reception has, they have no entertainment and there is always large queues at the bar which has a 10pm close. Luckily there is the Anchor pub at the bottom of the street which does good entertainment, cheap drinks and is shows how to look after customers.
Food at the hotel was average at best and goes to the lets do it on the cheap attitude.
There are smells of sewage in the pool area and when lost of people are in the pool the sewage flushes back up the drains and under the sunbeds. Nice !. Also they have music by the pool which is good until they bring in an amplifier outside and it becomes really loud - do not expect to snooze by the pool.
The staff are mostly ok - no effort on customer service but get there in the end. One exception is the porter they have who's is only good to show you to your room and look after luggage, he is so rude and spends most of the day smoking and taking a keen interest in the women by the pool.
Now this is a cheap hotel and yes you do get what you pay for but this hotel could be so much better very easily. If you can afford a little more book a better hotel, if you can't you need to take into account you will be eating / drinking outside the hotel more that you may have intended.

Room Tip: Do not accept a ground floor room as security risk.

Stayed there for a week, beds were horrible, as we asked staff to change them no one give us attention just simple ok but never did, whatever. Easy to find, close to the beach and clubs/pubs/restaurants. Very noisy. Area at the pool always stuffed. no space if u don't take it first u wont get it at all. Shower in the bath was broken n there wasn't hot water. Rooms were cleaned everyday and towels changed everyday also. They do clean the room even if u open the door and say no thx. TV didn't work and cudn get me coin out so left there as a tip. From other side i had a great holiday and for the money- this place is ok. If u want all inclusve choose somewhere else, as there is no much to do in this hotel - at least not for young people

Room Tip: 3rd floor as you can see the ocean and hear the night life instead of neighbors next to u

Pulled up outside the hotel at night, the lobby is extremely dark and could hardly see the hotel entrance. We got checked in quickly and they kept our passports behind the desk. Arrived at my room opened it expecting a lot worse from the reviews I read beforehand. It was very basic but only what I expect from the rating it is given. We were in room 1041, looking out onto the smaller of the two pools. The shower is really good and powerful only thing is its pretty poor lighting and you cant see as well as you should be. The rooms lights were pretty poor and the only way to get light was to open the door curtain, which isn't good on the ground floor as don't have privacy as people can look in. We had a fan on the ceiling which didn't really do that much but wasn't going to rent a fan as they charge something like 30 euros for a week. The bed was comfortable enough but the pillows were horrible, I assumed this so was prepared and brought my own pillows. The room I think should have had a toaster and a hairdryer.. We were self catering so cant comment on the food at the hotel but from what I seen of the snacks from all inclusive were dried up sandwiches and hotdogs on offer.
The maids were hardly ever in and we got our beds changed twice out of 14 nights stay. We found we kept running out of toilet paper as the maids never seemed to put it in everyday. The towels were changed every third day. The maids only cleaned the room twice I think out of the whole 2 weeks.
The courtesy shower room which you get offered is shocking. There was 7 of us in total and we had 3 rooms so we had 3 different timing slots. The first slot was after 4 other people had used the room when we entered it there was dirty towels all over the place, a razor left in the shower on the floor, toilet unflushed and blocked. The room smelt damp ,sweaty and just foul. I doubt the room had been cleaned for about a week. We complained at the desk and the English blonde lady at reception was extremely unhelpful and didn't really care and lied that the maids are just going to go in. Our 2nd slot was after the maids had supposedly cleaned the room. As we were a group of seven we had 3 slots so it was our second slot which was after the maids had cleaned the room. We walked in again and to our horror the room was exactly the same. We decided not to use the room as im sure we would come out dirtier than when we arrived. The staff didn't care about the mess as they knew we were going home so they didn't care.
We only used the pool once throught the 2 weeks, the sun loungers were always full and people put towels on them and never bothered to use them. The pool was a decent and everyone seemed to be having a good time. They play chart music throughout the day at the pool . The only thing that ruined it was a horrible smell of sewage or egg that you would occasional get a whiff of.
Overall the hotel is okish if you are never in it and just use it for showers and sleeping. The hotel never ruined our holiday as we were out most of the time and ate in restaurants everyday.I would never go back here or recommend anyone to go here. However if I was all inclusive I think the holiday would have been a nightmare. The location of the hotel is brilliant, close to everything. Good pub to go to is the Anchor and good places to eat nearby are the Giddy Goose and the Irish pub .
