“Sol Tenerife”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Stayed in hotel during September 2013 on All Inclusive when it was fairly full; and the weather was fantastic!
We opted for a high level rooms in "Block B" that were suggested by other reviewers which was good; only two English channels on TV ie CNN and RT.
Air conditioning in room is good which appears to be controlled is not; it is just an on/off switch.
The verity of food in the restaurant was amazing for all meals although the beef steak was sometimes tough; bottles of water were part of the AI during meals (worth noting).
The snack bar is open from 1030 to 1800 were drinks are on self serve; avoids having to wait at the pool bar.
The reception staff are amazingly good; do go the extra mile!
Have rebooked for April/May 2014

Pros: Excellent location
good food and different dishes every night
service was good
good price
very friendly and helpful staff
different shows every night
very close to the beach
Clean hotel and lovely view from each room.

Cons: very close to bars and night clubs so music was loudly heard from our room till 4 in the morning every night and in the morning we woke up to the noise of the power boats. (Our room was on the second floor; maybe if it was on the 10th or 11th floor we would not have heard so much noise.)

Room Tip: The rooms on the top floors are better than the rest because of the noise heard from the bars close...

Me my partner and 2 friends just returned from a week away in playa de las Americas. We had been recommended this hotel by a family member and had the most amazing time ever. The hotel was very modern, clean & stylish. The food was delicious and the hotel staff couldn't do enough for you. The entertainment was brilliant, they all seemed to make an effort every night, even they're English was tip top which was a bonus :) the hotel is located around the corner from the strip which was nice, (don't let the music & noise put u off though as the balcony doors shut the majority of the noise out) all of the restaurants, bars & shops were all walking distance which was ideal for nights out. The only down fall we had was that every time you would go to the pool bar for a drink, you would have to sign your name & hotel number which was quite annoying at times. however, i would definitely return to this hotel as I feel it was worth every penny & had a fantastic time. I definitely recommend it to all ages!!!

I wasn't going to write a review but after seeing all the bad reviews I felt the need! I stayed here for 4 nights half board over the bank holiday and we thought it was a lovely hotel! Didn't catch the entertainment as we went out on the strip every night instead. The comments about bad cleanliness and moody staff is rubbish we were moaning about how many times the maid cleaned our room a day when we were trying to sleep but can't fault them for that. Hotel staff went out of their way to provide brill customer service. All tenerife nightlife is literally at the front door and this saved us a fortune in taxi fair. Been to tenerife 6 times times now and would definitely stay here again. Overall we couldn't fault the hotel at all!!!!

having arrived at sol tenerife on 5/8/13,with my daughter,we hurried to reception to check in only to find the hotel was overbooked??????????.
yet we sat there watching people come in and check in???????.
we was moved to another hotel round the corner,as a sign of good will we was upgraded to all inclusive rather than b&b.
i wished they hadnt of bothered!!!. the food is a typical self service with ,eggs, beans.carrots, peas,
bacon if you can call it bacon, green beans and mushrooms mixed.
stale bread,it the usual for any sol hotel,we stopped at sol merlos todos in majorca a couple of years ago and i vowed never to stay in one again.
we met a group of people all suffering from diarrhea, two days later so was we.
you queue for ages to get a drink, only to be told two drinks per person,so if you have a child its back to the queue for you!.
theres one staff at the bar and 20 people queueing ,the longer it takes to serve you the more money the hotel save, you have to sign for everything, again WHY ??
the entertainment is dreadful, i was a musician for many years so i know what im talking about when it comes to this, grease was on one night and it was terrible, all miming to a dodgie sound track. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BOOK IN TO A SOL.

My husband and I have just come back from two weeks in Playa de las americas staying at the Sol Tenerife and what a fantastic time we had.

Before we went we read some of the reviews which wasn't consistently brilliant mainly around the noise, closeness to the Strip, paper thin walls and noisy raucous residents in the early hours of the monring. which, if we hadn't already booked would have put us off. However I have to say that we didn't find any of those problems only good positive things for a couple that are both 50 so not particularly ravers.

Firstly I have to say the hotel is huge in two large blocks and riight in the heart of everything. Yes it is at the top of the strip and if you have the patio doors open you will hear the loud music and raving, but our room was in Block A on the 9th floor and looked over the pool and sea. Once the doors were closed and the aircon on we didn't hear a thing. We had no problems from roudy neighbours either although the hotel was full. In fact there were mostly couples and families who were there for a nice peaceful holiday. i.e.l there were no large girl or boy gangs.

The hotel is spotlessly clean with the rooms cleaned every day and towels changed as often as you like. Most people stay on an all inclusive package so there were always plenty of people around all the time. We however stayed on an half board basis so chose to go out every day either hiring a car or a couple of bikes and getting around the island.

The restaurant is buffet style and there was an abundance of food for both breakfast and evening meal with as much as you wanted and more.

Although it doesn't really cater for vegetarians(which we are not) there is absolutely everything else you could wish for with lots of choices of meat, fish and pasta. A chef cooked two choices each of fresh meat and fish each evening and fried eggs and pancakes each morning. As well as all the other meat and fish dishes availble with paella and pizza available most days too. In fact I had to take up jogging just to get through the two weeks to try and keep the weight down, there was so much choice.

The staff are very very friendly and I have to give a special mention to one particular receptionist called Barbara. She is an absolute ambassador for Sol Tenerife and would recommend her for employee of the year. We arrived late on the Sunday due to a flight delay so very tired and hungry she perked us up by being very friendly, a big lovely smile and explaining every thing to us perfectly. Initially we were told the hotel was fully booked but she was so apologetic and offered us a couple of suitable alternatives you could not get upset or angry. In the end it turned out to our advantage as we were upgraded to a fantastic room which normally carries a supplement of 15 euros per day. (which I'm sure she didn't need to do). Each time we spoke to her after that, which was mainly for information for different things she was just so helpful, understood everything you wanted and more. She was absolutely fabulous.

Now talking about Tenerife itself. I was a bit dubious but when we booked we were just looking for a cheap summer holiday to get away. We had both previously been about 15 years before when the children were young but was now really expecting a Benidorm type of place. We couldn't be more wrong. It is the perfect place for families, couples of all age and sizes and relatively unspoilt by the British hen/stag type of atmosphere if of course you avoid the strip which you can so easily do.

The food and drink is so very cheap. Although we were half board we chose to eat out a couple of times and there are an abundance of bars and restaurants, you couldn't even begin to get through them all in a month of Sundays. Try Cafe de Paris for a great place to eat and PJ's is the best most friendliest bar by far. My husband ordered a gin and tonic. They bring the gin bottle out to you and just pour and pour. We counted 13 seconds before they stopped pouring the gin. I ordered an Irish Coffee and I swear there was a spoonful of coffee in with the rest being whisky.

Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje are both with a 30 min stroll either way of las americas and we would very often take the stroll along the sea front if only to walk off the huge meal we'd just eaten.

What can I say, I would visit las americas again in a heart beat and definitely stay again at the Sol Tenerife. If you go say hello to Barbara for me she is a credit to the hotel.

Just come back from staying in Sol Tenerife for 1week we stayed in room 315, which a nice size, lovely sea view but very noisy in the evening and the bath tub in serious need of changing. The staff where nice at reception when checking in and checking out, evening entertainment is excellence: food was not very tasty and its seemed like there was always the same things to eat. even though we where all inclusive we went out quiet a few times to get a nice meal. So this hotel I would say is Average but defiantly not a 4* of todays standards maybe 20 years ago.
