“lovely,but!!! Not 5 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

My daughter and I have just returned from a 3 week stay at this hotel. It is a lovely setting and was once a premium hotel ,however it is now a bit on the jaded side .When we arrived were made to stand and wait 30 mins to check in, then shown to a small double bedded room on the main road, on the round about, they call mountain view room .We rejected this and were charged 400E extra for a pool and sea view. We were moved 2 days later. The room was still to small but the view and balcony made it acceptable The beds are rock hard. had the same drinking glass for the whole of our stay. If it was washed it was left in the bathroom basin. The same bath robes for 3 weeks. Lovely pool area, and the use of the pool of the sister hotel, this was heated .Very quiet.

The dineing room is furnished with what seems to be plastic garden chairs. Be ready for the chaos at meal times. Don't bother to pack evening cloths. Had a lovely holiday there. Be aware of the extra charges. So be sure to pre book before you go.

Room Tip: Book sea and pool view before you travel. We were not alone paying an extra charge. Its a regular...

We have just returned from a week at the Mediterranean Palace Hotel. To say we were disappointed is an understatement! The first room we were given was a 'standard mountain view'. Where to start... It was tiny, dated, dirty, in disrepair and smelt disgusting. Please see pics.
After complaining, we were offered an upgrade to a suite with pool view at the cost of an extra 250€. The complaint was handled very well by Theresa and Khalil (a credit to the hotel). The second room was nice (not great) and much cleaner although still dated.
There is a policy that sunbeds were not to be reserved with towels but this was not enforced. Many had towels on all day with nobody using them. It was difficult at times to find two empty ones together.
If we were going to spend the extra money on a hotel, we would have picked a proper 4 or 5*. I don't know who awards the stars but this could never be classed as more than 2* in the UK.
On the positive side, the hotel is in a fabulous location and we had amazing weather!

We 2 couples arrived on 29 Dec for 1 week's R&R - a treat for my significant birthday (60th). We had read all the reviews about the great choice of restaurants outwith the hotel etc, but decided to go Dinner, Bed and Breakfast to save discussion every night about where and what kind of food we were going to eat. Well - did we ever make the right choice. I cannot see how anyone would be stuck for something to eat at dinner as the choice was amazing every night. We all enjoyed the dinner buffet selection and quality. Breakfast was no different, whether continental choices or more English type breakfasts is to your taste. As some previous reviewers have said - a little chaotic but considering 500 odd rooms to cater to, it wasn't too bad - after the 1st morning you soon got the hang of it. AND Cava every morning to boot!

The only fly in the ointment with the restaurant was they had a dress code for dinner. 3/4 length dress chinos were not acceptable but torn jeans were!! I understand they don't want people in with sports type shorts, but so many men wear dress shorts or dress cut offs at night time nowadays. I cannot see any where on the MP web page anything relating to dress code, so our men folk were caught short (excuse the pun!) with their 3/4 cut offs. MP HOTEL - get that sorted - either review policy or update web page.

We had plunge pool suites which were absolutely fantastic. Yes, the furniture getting a bit tired now, but everything spotless and maid service excellent.

The large pool was clean and plenty of sunbeds, the towel service was efficient and great to swap a wet towel with a nice warm dry one even half way through the day. Parents note - the kids clubs looked great and well organised - with plenty helpers for their activities.

Final word - the New Year's Eve Gala - Fantastic!! 7 course meal with wine and beer included. Moet & Chandon to toast the New Year as well as Lucky Grapes. The entertainment was as varied as it was excellent - from classical music, acrobat artists, to flamenco group and dancers, to a funky group that played reggae, soul and pop. AND a firework display that probably the whole south of the island could see at midnight. The Gala Night was FABULOUS!

Room Tip: Higher the better and pool/sea view side. If you can afford to upgrade, go for plunge pool suite...

Stayed in many hotels world wide this is not any where near 5 star I would say more like 3 star.
Bedrooms very dated, old TV, 2 chairs no table, shower cold had to use bath everyday. Breakfast was good, evening meal just OK. Weather was excellent which made our holiday.

Room Tip: High floor pool view.

We stayed here for four nights and were delighted with the hotel. It is ideally located within easy reach of both Ls Cristianos and Costa Adeje. Good quality shops, restaurants and supermarkets are just at the front of the each is merely a stroll from the back of the pool area. The hotel decor is amazing with glass escalators and elevators and soft seating areas surrounded by water pools with the largest chandeliers I have ever seen. The pool area was lovely, very clean and with plenty of sun beds and parasols and day beds too. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and on arrival we were given a welcome glass of champagne. The breakfast buffet was very impressive and comprehensive and catered for all nationalities. Champagne was on offer each morning along with a variety of juices, teas and coffees, rolls, cheeses, cooked meats, salads, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, hot breakfast items and omelettes and pancakes made to order. You are able to use the facilities elsewhere in the Mare Nostrum resort and this is well worth doing as the choice is vast. The room was very spacious with the biggest bed I have ever slept in. The large bathroom hosted both a bath and a shower. Our room was on the front of the hotel and was a little noisy so request a pool view if wanting a quieter time. Safety deposit boxes were included in the room rate. A real classy hotel that really is worth a visit.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the back of hotel to avoid noise from the street.

Booked my parents-in-law into this hotel for 8 nights on 13th January 2013. They arrived tired at approx 1am and on check-in were advised that they could upgrade their noisy room to a "quiet" room for an extra €105. They were bewildered, tired and agreed. Over the course of their week long holiday they heard the same thing being done several times to other people checking in. Absolutely disgraceful. Entertainment in hotel was very good. Big buffet breakfast which was good. Food at night time wasn't as good. Other than the upgrade scam which is inexcusable particularly when directed at OAP's, the hotel is nice and location is good.
