We stayed here July 4th for a week half board.Hotel clean rooms spacious,Meals not great sometimes long wait for food as a lot of guests arrived for dinner at the same time.As there is no BEACH near, most guests use hotel pool,WE HAD TO GET UP AT 6AM EVERY MORNING TO RESERVE SUN BEDS WITH SHADE FOR OUR GRAND-DAUGHTER.Some of the sunbeds were taken from about 4AM.Also no room between the sunbeds you could hardly move.

just arrived back from la siesta.
never again, the food is the worst ive ever had on any holiday.
booked this through our local travel agent going places and wont use them again either. weve booked twice with these and each time we had recieved a bum deal.
theres no food for children what so ever ,people were getting to the end of the queue and they had nothing on there plates.
yes the hotel is nice but thats about it.
we had a room over looking the sex shop,we complained and they wanted 20 euros aday per couple to upgrade ,(not a chance).
the hotel are after your money from day one ,no cash changes hands, everything goes on your bill at the end of your stay.
and its very expensive. just to put things into perspective childrens m & ms in the supermarket were 40 cence,in the hotel they were 2.50 euros thats nearly £2.00 pound!!!!.
i used to work as a pro musician so i no what im talking about, the entertainment was worse than the food, and if i hear applauso again ill scream.if you want a good holiday go in the vulcarno, jacaranda, med palace, and the bitacoro stay clear of this place.after reading this review you will think im very bitter, well yes i am,the days when you used to go away to these places for value for money have long gone.

“overbookings at La Siesta”

La Siesta Hotel

We booked for the Hotel La Siesta in January of this year. The day before we were due to arrive there I received an e-mail to say they were overbooked ! We were given the Hotel Gala instead . We found out that this seems to be a regular occurance at this hotel. I did ask for an explanation at the La siesta and they told me that they had overbooked by 40 people for that day of arrival (which was 30th June)and they had to move all those holiday makers to other hotels!!

It had been going on for weeks and not just our day of arrival. All week (on different days) people were arriving at the Hotel Gala who had been transferred from La Siesta - due to the hotel being overbooked !! There were 8 of us in our party and the holiday was for a special occasion. As it happened the Hotel Gala was quite nice and the pool was much better than the la siesta (when we visited the La Siesta one day you couldnt even swim in the pool it was that overcrowded - people were just stood in the pool and the sun terraces were overcrowded too. After saying that the hotel was nice and we had a nice free BBQ there with free drinks to compensate us for their error - along with a lot of other english people who were in the same boat.

You need to get your act together La Siesta, this should not be acceptable from a 4 star Hotel to keep overbooking guests !! ok so you can make a mistake but from what we found out it is happening week after week.

I would think twice before making a reservation at this hotel again. we were very upset about it and there was no excuse to leave it until the very last minute to inform us of the overbooking.

“GREAT HOTEL”

La Siesta Hotel

Bridge of Weir, Scotland

Just returned on Monday from La Siesta and we had a really good time.

We had upgraded to a Club Alexander Suite with in room Juccuzi and it was worth every penny extra paid. We used the juccuzi every evening..........Ah bliss. The bowl of fruit was great, 4 oranges, 4 apples, 4 bananas and it was lovely/

Our balcony was at the end of the building on the corner of the main street and side street but facing the pool and was huge with a great view (2nd floor) which was actually the top floor.

The breakfast was excellent with everything the same each day but all kinds of cereals, fried, boiled, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cooked tomatoes, spanish omelette. Then of course all the cold meats and cheeses and plenty of breads and fruits, coffee tea milk etc. We were only B & B but we did have one meal in the restaurant which we would have used again but there were so many restaurants which we wanted to try.

We did go to the Hotel BBQ on the Thursday. We were a bit disappointed in that the welcome drink, starter salad and soup were lovely but the main course consisted of 1 sausage, 1/2 of one small chicken breast and one pork rib served with four canarian potatoes (the potatoes were the best part of the main course) the ice cream was alright but have tasted better. I would not recommend you go to the BBQ not worth the money asked.

The mini bar is a bit of a swiz we only took it so we would have a fridge. The mini bar comes filled and you then have it for the duration of your holiday at a cost of 28€.

The hotel bar was lovely, so was the reception area and all the staff from the door porter, the maids, reception staff to the bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel entertainment was excellent we were there for two weeks and there was no weekly repeat. We had two tribute acts The Beatles - very good and ABBA - Mama Mia which was out of this world. We were lucky we could sit on your balcony and get the best view in the house of the entertainment.

The kids Mini Club was great to watch, we do not have children with us (ours are grown ups now) but the hotel La Siesta is the best kids clubs I have ever come across and we travelled a lot when our kids were small.

Be warned Tenerife in general is cheap if you are drinking beer, wine or water. We went into one or two bars and the average price for a gin and tonic was 7€. That was 3.50€ for the gin and 3.50€ for the tonic. People with children are being asked to pay 3.50€ for a bottle of soft drink.

Sitting our balcony at night we noticed that most people were doing the same as us. Buying their drinks at the supermarket and drinking on their balcony before going out maybe having a couple of drinks out and coming back to finish off the evening on their balcony.

Litre of Gordons gin was 10€ and a 2 litre bottle of Schweppes tonic water or bitter lemon was only 1.50€.

If anything the hotel bars and the local bars are losing money whilst the supermarkets profits will be up.

We still had a GREAT HOLIDAY but until the € does better against the £, we will be keeping away from "Euroland" for some time. Everyone on our flight home was complaining and saying better to go to Bulgaria, turkey or USA as opposed to anywhere in Europe.

“Great hotel!”

La Siesta Hotel

Jun 29, 2008

After reading some reviews I was a bit worried as to what the hotel would be like but as soon as we pulled up outside all of the worries pretty much vanished. The outside of the hotel was clean and tidy, there are really nice marble floors and there is a porter on the door who always says hello. The reception area was nice and empty so it was easy to check in, the only time it was busy was when a group of people were dropped off.
We had a Club Alexandre room with a pool view, it was nice to just relax on the balcony every now and again before going for dinner etc. The only problem with having a pool view room is that the evening entertainment was outside by the pool area and the music echoed all around and was quite loud when we were trying to relax/sleep. The room was quite big and had a sofa as well as two single beds, I'm not sure if you can request double beds or not but it may be worth a try asking... The bathroom was a good size and was cleaned all over (including the shower) every day.
I was very impressed with how well the cleaners did their job, the rooms were cleaned, hallways hoovered, lifts cleaned, the pool cleaned and all of the tiled floors in the pool area were washed down and mopped every day.
The pool was a nice area, if you do want a sun lounger with a parasol then make sure you get out before 8 to get them reserved, we didn't do this at all and still managed to get sunbeds in good areas and just went in the pool or under the shade of the bar to cool down. We only went to the pool about 4 or 5 times in our 7 day stay as we went to the beach quite often and found a really nice one only a 10 minute walk towards Los Cristianos.
The meals were great, breakfast had a good choice of pastries and lots of types of bread as well as cooked foods. We had lunch in the restaurant on one day as we had half board and you can have either lunch or dinner and the food was excellent even though they weren't catering for the whole hotel. Dinner was good, there was a choice of different meat and fish as well as lots of salad, chips, pasta and vegetables. I'm a fussy eater and I still had my plate full with quite a few different foods! The BBQ was ok, but not as good as I was expecting, it isn't buffet service so you have to wait for everyone to be finished before you can have your next course. Make sure you ask if you can reserve your places at reception when you check in though because you can't just turn up.
There are lots of beaches, shopping areas, supermarkets, bars and restaurants around to keep everyone occupied. There are also trips and places you can go if you've had enough of relaxing by the pool! Just be careful of costs and try and shop around for the best deal. We went on a whale spotting boat/catamaran trip with Freebird, I'd recommend using these as they are the main company out there but to get a good deal walk to Puerto Colon (about 30 minute walk but it has great views and it is a great walk up there) and actually go and see the people at Freebird as they will give it you for around €11 less than the reps from other companies.
The only problem we had with the hotel is that you don't pay by cash whilst having drinks and food in the hotel so it's a good idea to keep a running total to know that you're not overspending. When we checked out and got our bill there was an extra €7 on the bill that we knew we hadn't spent and someone had given our room number instead of their own and signed the receipt. We got the money refunded by checking our signature against the one on the receipt and they realised it wasn't ours but just be careful as this did take time!
All in all, the hotel was brilliant and we would definitely stay there again!
