5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

Have just come back from an amazing all inclusive holiday here. The service was second to none. Facilities and cleanliness were excellent and all the staff were very welcoming. The food catered for everyone and couldn't fault anything. Excellent value for money and I def wouldn't hesitate to come back

Stayed at the Gran Oasis for half term week for 10 nts travelling with Jet2. We were allocated room 007 which is about as far away from reception, bar & pool as you can get but we got used to the steps or hill after a few days. We have stayed at their sister hotel, Green Garden Resort, a couple of times & enjoyed it and thought this would be similar but it wasn't.
We didn't enjoy the food at all, like other people have said, it's the same food most of the time and the freshly cooked meat/fish tended to be in short supply even if you went in when the restaurant first opened they had only just put it on the grill for cooking. It was only 3 days before the end of our holiday we discovered you could have lunch in the bar area which was a lot nicer, with freshly made pizzas continually being replenished and the food covered with netting to stop the birds from getting to it. We ended up eating out quite a few nights just to get some variety & some typical Spanish food.
The weather was not too good for half our holiday (obv nothing to do with hotel) but the pool was only heated for one day, our son went in and had blue lips after about 20 mins. That was the only time we used the pool area as as mentioned by quite a few people if you weren't there early then there were no sunbeds to be had near the pool due to towels being put down.
After 5 days we upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite with rooftop terrace which was brilliant as it had sunbeds on so no need to fight for any around the pool. As we travelled with Jet2 we got unlimited entrance to Siam Park so we tended to go there in the morning then relax in the afternoon for a couple of hours on the terrace. It was €25/day to upgrade so I would do the upgrade with the travel company in future when booking as it was a lot cheaper.
Would we stay at this hotel again? Yes for the accommodation & the Siam Park entrance but only on a bed & breakfast basis.

Room Tip: If you want a room near the pool, I would email the hotel in advance to request a higher numbered ro...

First of all we do want to thank you very much for your comments. For us it is crucial to know your sincere opinion and feed back as it gives us the opportunity to improve day to day.

We do feel really sad to know that you were not satisfied at all with our buffet. We know that everyone has different tastes and we can not make happy the 100% of the customers but for us, every single guest is the reason to continue doing our best.

In the welcome leaflet, you have got the information related to bars, restaurants, snacks , drinks, timetables and all the information about the all inclusive. We have got at guests´ disposal a main buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner ( international buffet + 7 thematic dinners a week ) but as well Restaurant by the pool area with snacks from 11:00 to 18:00 and snack lunch from 13:00 to 15:00. We are really sadden you didn´t know this information before.

Unfortunately you have gone home and that is nothing that we can do now but if you give us a chance in the future i am sure we could cover your expectations.

Thank you very much once again and i take advantage to invite future guests, to help us to help them, by calling us before coming, sending us emails asking whatever you want to ask; once you are here do not hesitate to come or to call reception to clarify doubts. We are very happy and pleased to help you and to contribute to make your holidays "THE HOLIDAYS".

Best Wishes

Wee were pleasantly to surprised to find how big our room was - an entire villa - 2 floors! Huge bathroom (occasionally ran out of hot water but there were 4 girls). Comfy beds and 2 of those were trundles. Great little balcony. Kitchen was also really big and well equipped. Full size fridge. Facilities are great. You can choose to have food included. W didn't opt for this but still found the menu items to be reasonably priced for a touristy location such as Playa de las Americas. Some advice - it's quite a walk to the beach. I'd say 20/30 minutes. However the pools are quite good at the hotel. Staff were very helpful and speak quite a few languages - Spanish (obviously), English and German atheist. He a great time and would stay again.

We went as two families, 26th May until 2nd June 2013 with children aged, 12,12,14,16. We had a fab time. The staff were really friendly and worked very hard. The resort was really clean, the food was good, we were all inclusive, you could always find something that you liked, we had no issues with food not being hot as per some of the other reviews. The entertainment was fine, it all closed down at 11pm which was quite nice, if you want to party for longer you are in Playas de las Americas and can find night life until breakfast time! We stayed in a one bedroom appartment which was over two floors, it was spotless, the towels and bedding were changed several times, no complaints Fab!

Stayed here for half term - 4 adults and 2 children in two separate apartments. Accommodation was very good with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The resstaurant struggled a bit with the number of guests this week but did so with a friendly face and good humour. The whole resort is very well maintained and clean and the kids loved the pools.

The one problem was bed bugs - found after our first night. The staff dealt with this very speedily and changed our room, supplied gifts of champagne and flowers and upgraded us to premier AI. I think the maid should have found this large colony under the mattress and perhaps they should be reminded to look under the mattress when cleaning.

Other than this we had a great week and all had a good time.

Dear guest,

We do want to apologize again for the inconvenient suffered the first night. We do really hope that the rest of the holidays were enjoyable.

The cleaner manager has been informed about everything as you know, and the cleaning staff is paying a lot of attention on the issue. This is one of the handicaps of the subtropical weather.

Thank you very much once again for sharing your stay with us and we do really hope to have the opportunity to serve you again.

Best Regards

Just back from a week with ours and extended family including grand parents of age 70. Although cannot fault the hotel and apartment the food, sun loungers and entertainment leave a bit to be desired. theme nights are the same food disguised under a different name - Mexican paella really? Hot plates didn't keep food hot, when they were full so trip to microwave was required. Fresh pork chops put on grill by chef wearing gloves, impressive, until he then served up more tortilla wraps with same gloved hands! Children's variety poor, pizza dried up, chips cold, chicken nuggets soggy.
Now to the pools. 2 large pools and smaller children's pool v.good surrounded by lots of sun loungers, however if you're not up by 8am with your towels to secure your lounger you've had it. Even though stickers on them says management do not permit it - staff should remove them then especially as some people don't even return to them till the afternoon.
Evening entertainment starts with mini disco then a random v.average selection of stage shows, then at 11pm that's it - lock down. Whether you want to or not its lights out, bar closed, off to bed you go. I guess if you've been up since dawn to secure your sun lounger you don't mind but some of us would of preferred the choice of a 'grown up' bar for a bit longer.
Walk down to Los Cristianos about 15/20 mins across baron waste land not a scenic walk. Def a taxi back.
Would recommend get yourself to bus station and take a cheap bus ride over the island to see other parts.
5 out of 5 for staff and maintenance of resort however other parts put us off. If all inc package completely about kids aged 2-5 is wat your after then def for you.

Room Tip: Near to bottom as possible. No lifts and lots of steep steps to penthouses

Dear guest,

We do want to thank you very much for your comments on this site.

It is a pity that you did not enjoy our food at all, neither the themed buffets. We know that reaching everybody´s tastes is impossible but this is the reason why we count on a hugh variety of thematic dinners, different fresh and first quality products, snacks, salads, fish, meat and vegetables.

About the mexican night, we do serve Tipical Mexican rice with beans but not paella. Spanish Paella is served on Spanish night. According with 95% guests´questionnaires Mexican night is the most popular.

We count on 490 sunloungers for a total of 600 guests ( children and babys included). Even, when all the longchairs are busy, we can place 30 more that we have got in our storehouse. So we are talking about 520 sun-loungers

What we can not do at all is to remove guest´s staff from loungers because first of all we are nobody to mannipulate guests personal things and as well because we do not know if they are coming in 20minutes, in 30 minutes, if they have just left the loungers to go to the bar for a drink.... You should understand that removing personal things will generate more complaints than the complaints we have got now ( no complaints at all apart from yours) because a lack of sunloungers in our solarium.
Only thing you need to do when you don´t find a long-chair available is to talk to the lifeguard or to reception.

We do thank you very much once again for sharing your holidays with us, for your comments and we want to wish you sincelrely the best !!

Kind Regards
Lydia Rguez

Thompson rep states "This is only a 3* hotel, Thompson mark it up"
Make sure you read the information about drinks. Even though this is all inclusive you have to sit in the sun till 11:00 before you or your children can get a drink!!!
The food is cold and the same each night, all they do is hang a sombrero from the lights and call it Mexican night!
Our kids all most starved as they don't normally eat pasta every night and the potato balls were just called different names, like cod bites or chicken balls.
In the end I gave the guy £5.00 for some chicken nuggets.
The snack bar by the pool has nice food BUT it only serves them from 13:00 till 15:00, we complained at reception and they said "No, hot food till 18:00 every night" This does not happen! They stop at 15:00 and leave out ham and cheese sandwiches for you to toast till about 16:00.
At the pool bar there is an amazing menu which implies it is in included but not so. You only get a 50% discount.
The reviews are misleading.
Our rep told us that it is only a 3 * hotel and Thompson mark it up".
If you have been to any other all inclusive you will hate this one.
Swimming pools are very deep for children with only a 'pond' size one for non swimmers.
On a good note. The evening entertainment is very good for the kids.

Room Tip: Book another Hotel.

Dear Sir

Many thanks for your comments, our main objective as a complex is to ensure that our guests have a wonderful holiday with us. We are delighted that you "cannot fault the hotel and apartment" and that you give us "5 out of 5 for staff and maintenance of the resort" We are however sorry to learn that there are some aspects of the holiday that didn't meet your expectations.

Our theme nights are hugely popular with our 480 clients on half board and fully inclusive, in fact it’s fair to say that the Mexican Theme night is THE most popular; we receive lots of compliments on the typical Mexican rice with beans as we do with the paella Valenciana that we serve on the Spanish themed nights.

With regards to the children, we have approximately 185 children in the complex and we offer a variety of children’s foods, if children or parents prefer to eat from the regular buffet then they are more than welcome to do so and will find a variety salads, fish meat and vegetables. We understand that everyone has different tastes so we are happy to offer both options

The complex has 490 sunbeds situated on the pool terraces, there are also a further 110 stored to ensure that as the occupancy of the hotel goes up, there are more sunbeds available, normally then no client is left without a sunbed, however the ones to be taken first are those situated in prime positions around the pool. We can ask guests politely not to reserve sunbeds, however it would be very harsh if we were to remove our guests personal objects, we have no idea if I client has had to return to his room and may be back in half an hour rather than later that afternoon.

Our evening entertainment finishes between 22.30 and 23.00, after this the bar stays open until midnight with the music volume in accordance with the amount of people still in the bar. As a predominantly family complex we feel that many of our clients with children also want to rest.

With our very best wishes
