“Absolutely AWFUL!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Based on our experience in the last week, the mind boggles at some of the reviews on this site. This has to be the worst place in the world, not just Tenerife!!!!! It´s so bad I called it a day and moved to the Bouganville Playa.
I´m really not sure where to start, but if rotten food, the smallest food serving area ever (outdoors with absolutely minimal choice), an extremely small swimming pool, no air conditioning, oh and yes bed bugs is your thing...............then book the Green Garden Resorts!!

Fantastic place if all-inclusive with Siam Park tickets, the resort apartments are 1st class. We have been comming to Las Americas for 10 years, its a second home to us as we have friends who stay and have businesses there. We have lived in almost all the best Hotels & Appartments Las Americas can give you,.. this is one i would recommend. The food is not great.. but hey what spanish hotel is?you wont starve.. food in the the 5 star hotels i have stayed in aint faired better...forget the negatives, this is a good place to go, 5 euros for a cab into & back from town...

Room Tip: All rooms good

Wouldn't recomment for adults without children as no quieter areas, separate bar or seating area away from kids entertainment, everything is set around the restaurant area ie bar, stage, after dinner drinks etc. Have stayed in family hotels previously (ours daughters have grown and flown) but they've always had an area to get a drink and plenty of seats away from family entertainment i.e. kids disco etc etc.
Hotel is very suitable for families with young children as very contained.
Not keen having our drinks in plastic containers most of the time, rightly so for daytime around the pool but not with our evening meals!
Towels on sunbeds policy not upheld, few days at 9.30am and no beds available!
Surprised that out of our six night stay, there was no housekeeping for two of them!
Food ok, breakfasts excellent, lunch good, evening meals average.
Positives - apartment excellent we were at first floor level with small balcony off bedroom at front and larger one off main sitting room at the back, emailed ahead to request a quiet area on the site which we had; staff very good but felt on occasions they were overworked and needed more help; hotel and grounds spotless; shuttle bus good but nice walks too.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room email ahead and ask for one away from the pool/restaurant.

Just returned from Green gardens resort and suites and this review is based on our experiences of the complex and Thomas Cook. We booked approx 10 weeks prior, the main reason we chose this holiday was because of the daily access to Siam park which was clearly indicated on the main page for this holiday, however when we printed the E tickets off a few days before leaving I noticed in small print that tickets weren't included!!!! After a lot of phone calls to Thomas Cook first conversation they said " there was a drop down menu to include tickets to the park" THAT WAS NOT TRUE !! Second conversation they said " it was because we had booked late" I do't consider about eight to ten weeks prior late !!, Third time they said " well it was in the small print and we agreed to it " , why would they sell this holiday as an Aquamania holiday and state on the main page that you will get access to the park then later on put in small print that you dont........................may not seem a big deal to some but when you realise access to the park costs over 30 euros each it can mount up
On arrival to the hotel around 11pm we where greeted at a small reception and given a key to our room, we proceeded up the stairs and where faced with a smallish pool surrounded by lounges with a bridge across to a small bar area, on a tiny stage was a woman with snakes,
we dropped our bags off in our room and went to look for something to eat, as it was latish we were prepared to pay for a sandwich or anything really, to be fair they gave us a free plate of food each which was a risotto with tough braised beef which we couldnt eat.
As we were very tired we went to bed, but sleep was not an option for me as the room wasnt air conditioned and the fan on the ceiling was very noisey.
After a bad nights sleep, we checked the complex out and were very dissapointed especially after reading good reviews on this site, there is 1 place to eat with rickety old tables which doubles up as your area to watch the entertainment at night on a small nearby stage, the pool is too small for the complex and the whole place felt chlostrophobic with the pool near the eating area and lounges, we decided to ask to be moved to another hotel, we informed the rep of our unhappiness with the complex and need to be at a place for a well earned rest,
we also mentioned about the waterpark tickets, to be fair the rep sympathised with our plight and told us she,d had similar problems in the past regarding the advertised access to the water park, finally we where told there was 1 hotel we could move to for 400 euros each extra, taking the total for the holiday to over a thousand pounds each, we were not prepared to pay the extra
but where told we would get access to the park FINALLY....We will never use Thomas cook again.

So, faced with having to stay at the hotel we decided to make the best of things, there is a bus provided that takes you to los Cristianos at 10.20 and picks you up at 5.20, this set the tone for the week for us, we ate breakfast that was the same every day, the usual choice of eggs, sausages, horrible bacon, beans mushrooms and some cakes, by the time you sat down it was cold so needed to blast it in the microwave.
We never once went in the pool which was full of kids even in october, the whole complex had kids drinking sugary drinks all day, whilst the parents drank alcohol all day, then towards early evening the kids where bouncing and the parents where half smashed and losing patience!!!!!! So beware if you are not traveliing with children, you will get no peace here,
You have to pay 3 euros a day to get your tv on, which includes sky sports, there are no places nearby so you either have to use the free bus or take a five euros taxi ride into town, or walk along the dual carriageway for half an hour or so.
If we knew before what we know now, we would of booked an apartment near the beach and ate out as we did anyway, you can get a breakfast for under 3 euros and a three course meal for 8 euros, beer in the los cristianos is on average only about 1.5 euros luckily.

The entertainment on the complex was poor and consisted of a kids disco, 3 animal shows I think and a couple of other dodgy shows, but as we generally stayed in los Cristianos till 10 ish or went to the waterpark then came back and watched tv I didnt reallly watch any as the bar area was not a place we wanted to be.
We had breakfast everyday, I think we had 1 lunch which was enough and 1 dinner, the rest of the time we ate out, sometimes when we came back early we checked what was on offer and where happy with our choice to eat elsewhere.
On the second day we noticed little ants all over our bed and complained to reception at the same time as someone else was also complaining and where told that there was an invasion and that there was nothing they could do, apart from change the sheets, They did this but the problem persisted,
in conclusion we expected a lot better for what we paid, its noisey morning noon and night and a lot smaller than the pictures suggest, the rooms are spacious but too warm no air con , the food is not great, there is nowhere to relax and chill out, the entertainment is awful and it is isolated.
The plus points for us where the free bus out of there daily, the scottish lad on reception at night was very helpful, and that we only booked for 1 week and Siam Park is excellent.

Room Tip: wouldnt bother

Spent a week here in a " de-luxe " apartment. No air-con,only ceiling fan in bedroom, 2 washed out bathrobes, bottle of water and a broken telly.Don't waste your money on an upgrade. The complex is very clean as are the rooms but no safety deposit boxes in the rooms.Have to go to reception for that.!The all-inclusive is quite poor on the food choice.Food was not always hot, empty containers not always refilled and the snacks were always burgers or hotdogs. The complex is a long way from the town.A good 15 mins for adults but only 5 mins in a taxi at 5 euros. There are washing machines and driers as well.Entertainment was pretty basic. Not enough tables to watch anyway. Free wi-fi in the games room.Siam Park is great as is Loro Park and a trip to Mount Teide is not to be missed.Go up in the cable car. 25 euros per adult .car hire is cheap but hire before you go.

Room Tip: Rooms further from the pool area are less noisy

Before i start about the holiday i just want to say how wonderful ruzzo is, our children and ourselves loved her so much she really is gold and amazing with children, my children cryed when we left because they missed her.The staff work extremely hard and the scottish guy at reception is fantastic will help you with any queries, everyone is very friendly. The shows were very good if your there for 2 weeks you will see the same parrot, eagle, snake show twice but still very good. We ordered chinese take away to our apartment as we got bored of the food the 2nd week,so that was great. The swimming pool does not have a shallow end which wasnt very good. The hotel was cleaned 5 times a week and clean towels everyday. We never had a problem getting sun loungers in the morning. The mini disco is brilliant for little ones as pleanty of dances and games and certificates won for morning/afternoon activities.Town is roughly 20 minutes walk and we walked there but got taxi back for 4 euros. We really had a great holiday and we travelled with our 9 year old 3 year old and 3 month old and are already planning our next holiday for december would definately recommend this hotel, siam park and loro parque are are definate must these are both fantastic. Also if anyone could help me by letting me know the names of the songs that are played round pool so i can make my children a cd with all the songs that would be great thankyou xx

A great hotel with very friendly staff. The apartments are very spacious and very clean. There was a great choice of food at all meals and it was of a very good standard. We sent in September and there was no rush for sunbeds. We walked to the centre of town which took about 15 minutes.
