Yes the place is looking a bit tired and run down, but the Yumbo is still one of the most fun places to go on holiday. There is really something for everybody. It seemed a bit quieter than usual in August this year, but there was still plenty going on (and quicker service at the bar!) Both Sparkles and Ricky's had packed out shows both nights, I'd recommend either. Diamonds is great for a cheap starting drink. We preferred the stretch with Coco Loco and Gossip to the clubs in the far corner which were a bit expensive and felt a bit cruisy for me. Some other fascinating bars if you dare try them out (sadly I haven't!). A group of girls we met at the hotel went to the Kasbah on their first night and said it was really disappointing, so we took them to Yumbo the second night and the ended up coming out there with us the rest of the week. I agree that in the daytime it seems a bit derelict, the shops are very overpriced and the sellers very pushy. I don't really notice much of them on a night, other than the ones that put tacky dancing toys on your tables in bars and then ask you to pay 20euro for them..it takes a few attempts to tell them you're not interested before they leave (and are soon replaced by another)
