“Great Value For Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I booked this accomadation last minute two days prior till departure, then to my horror found lots of bad reviews. I can honestly say the bad / horrible / unfair reviews were compleatly unfounded. The desk clark/reception booked me in with no problems i did not need to pay a deposit. My apartment was very clean and no bad smells what so ever inside or out side off my accomadation. Basic kitchen facilities but ok for my needs. The lounge area is quite small really only suitable for two adults. My balcony over looked the road outside front off the apartments and was not to noisey day or nite.Restaurent in complex was open from breakfast till late evening closed at 11: 00 pm. 10min walk two center off the resort. taxi s 3 Euros this encludes tip I walked to the night life and back again very quiet safe and was never approched by anyone for any reason. Apt Cleaned 6 days a week with chage of towels as required.

Room Tip: Better to not have ground floor accomadition secuirty and privicy

Centrally located, 10 mins walk from the beach, bus station, Yumbo centre. Plenty shops and restaurants in the area. Supermercado and decent restaurant across the road. Car hire and crazy golf next door.
My wife and I stayed for 10 days over christmas and new year, self catering.
Hotel basic but clean with decent pool and plenty sunbeds. Could probably do with a makeover but there are a lot worse for more money! Shower door was loose and coin operated t.v. was expensive. BBC news was the only English speaking channel! Staff a bit miserable looking but gave us a ground floor apartment when they saw my Wife was wearing a bandage on her ankle without us asking! Fresh towels every 2nd day, polite cleaners.
We were expecting worse for the money we paid but this is a pretty good hotel.

Room Tip: Ground floor apartments allow direct access to the pool and sun loungers.

Good :)
* Swimming Pool was clean and spacious.
* Free WiFi in the lobby and swimming pool area.
* Convenient location - possibly noisy at night time though.
* Dishes, pans, pots provided.
* Room clean but smelled funny ...

Bad:(
* Cockroaches ... we saw one in our hotel alive and many dead ones in the corridor.
( They put some chemical stuff to kill them during our hotel and that's why there were a lot of dead ones.)
* Towel change every 3 days only.
* No bathtub.
* Shower - not enough hot water for 2 people. ( just enough to wash my hair ...)
* Tennis court is in a really bad condition and not in use.
* Need to pay to watch TV.
* Room is small.

It was our 2nd time holiday in Gran Canaria and we had a good hotel for similar money last time, so we were a bit disappointed this time.
Basically it was an OK hotel for money. Swimming pool was really nice.
However, we don't think we will come back mainly because of its bathroom ( no bathtub & not enough hot water).

Having read the reviews we were both pleasantly surprised with the hotel accommodation. The phrase you get what you pay for definitely comes to mind. The room was clean upon arrival and was cleaned 6 out of the 7 days by a very polite cleaning lady where nothing was too much trouble.

We didn't see any cockroaches the whole week we were there. The room did have an unusual smell but it was not something that we couldn't get used to.

The hotel is within a 10 minute walk to both the beach and the lively jumbo centre.

We walked back to the room often at 4 or 5 in the morning and felt very safe, just a case of being sensible.

Overall I would recommend this hotel if your looking for a cheap getaway in the sun.

Las Faluas 20 February 2012

From the Las Palmas Airport:
Go to departure lounge on the upper level and get out using the main door then go to the right, at the corner of the building there is a bus stop (parada). Take bus number 66 for 3.50 Euros (price is shown at the bus stop), it will take you to Playa del Inglis. You should tell the driver that you need to get off at avenida de Gran Canaria. There are only two bus stops in this road and the Las Faluas is situated between these two. Google map locates it at the wrong end of Avenida de Tenerife so it is a good idea to use Google earth and walk down the road to check out the appearance of the Las Faluas. It is at the corner of avenida de Tenerife and avenida de Gran Canaria.

Las Faluas is a complex of three big round traditional looking buildings and the main building where reception, car rental and restaurant operate underneath. It has a large swimming pool which is popular with residents. Although the buildings were renovated not long ago, it still looks as if they have been there before anyone else. The entrance is uninteresting, that if you expect grace and elegance or at least style. The reception office is a well lived-in family business style, a little disorderly but effective.

For your money:
You’ll get a twin bedded room apartment with small kitchen area, a lounge and a bath room with shower. The kitchen has a two ring hob, a sink and a fridge, for cooking you have one frying pan, one big and one small saucepans, also cutlery, cups and plates.

There is a free low speed wifi in the public lounge which gets even lower when few people are using it. The 2 computers for public use are not free. All these were suspended for 2 days when I really needed it for online check in. Many bars in Playa del Ingles also offer some sort of free wifi, but don’t expect a fast one. The game shop in shopping centre nearby has a fast broadband about 5 mb using their own computers and the price is 1 Euro for 30 mins.

The water pump broke down one day, so there was no water from early morning until late afternoon. It seemed something very hard to repair, and they had been trying since early morning.

I can not use these two incidents in my assessment because it’s probably a one off, just my luck.

I will rate it 5 out of 10 because it is neither here nor there.

The apartment is nice and clean enough, the cleaner came few times a week but there is no air-condition or heater. You can do nothing if you have cold nights and summer hot nights without even an electric fan you will not sleep easily.

What I find most annoying is the pay-television.
It does not cost much in terms of television price and electricity it consumes, so it is a trivial idea of money making which I think will work against them. You get 1 hour for 1 Euro and 6 Euros for 24 hours and this is not 24 hours usage but one day rent whether you use it or not the clock is ticking away. The meter is unreliable because sometimes it gives 40 minutes for 1 euro. You may think they give you special multi channels but Surprise, Surprise, what you really get is a few news stations which repeat themselves all day and few channels for entertainments in few languages. It will cost you 42 Euros for a week on top of your bill. It is important to put your valuable in a safe and this will cost you another 16 Euros a week for the usage of a safe.

Once you have work out the real cost of your accommodation here, you may want to reconsider and look elsewhere with air-condition, free television and safe deposit. In this area, there are plenty of accommodations to be had in every road. Unless they all have the same system then you just have to suffer.

I didn’t see any cockcroach mentioned in some reviews perhaps it is still not summer yet or they all have left the building.

Location:
It’s easy to get to using a local bus from the airport so there is no need for an expensive taxi and it is quite near to the beach with a long promenade on the upper level. If you are keen, you can walk along the beach further toward the nudist area at the distant sand dune, there you can bare all for the world to see.

The famous Yumbo centre is at a good walking distance. There are two local shopping centres near by but I was told it is cheaper than buying at the airport if you go to Las Palmas, just a local bus ride all the way to the capital of the Gran Canarias.
Food shopping in the area is expensive with plenty of processed meats and unreliable fruits and vegetables. If you plan to cook you won’t be able to get fresh meat or fish here.

The old San Fernando shopping centre is a good walk up the avenida de Gran Canaria or five minutes by a taxi and just behind it, there is also Bella Vista shopping centre, here you get Mercadona supermarket at one end of the road. At Mercadona you have meat counters and fish counter with good selection and reasonable price. A kilo of cooked King prawns is 6.95 Euros makes an excellent side kick to your cold beer at the beach.

On the main road in front of San Fernando shopping centre there is a yellow sign on the other side of the road for Mercado municipal which is a local market 1,400 meters away, another point of interest for some early rise tourists.

Las Faluas was suggested as a last-minute alternative since the apartments we originally booked were unavailable. While very basic, the accommodations were a pleasant surprise to my friend and I. The location is ideal - 5 minutes from the beach, around the corner from the bus stop and walking distance to all the restaurants and clubs. The pool area was clean and relaxing and we enjoyed the view from the balcony.
