My boyfriend and I have just come back from a 2 week half board stay at the Ifa Continental and had a brilliant holiday.

Most of the receptionists & waiters spoke very good English and were friendly. The rooms were just as described and the pools were lovely although it can be hard to get sun beds in the morning but they free up at lunch time.

The food was good, every night a selection of salad, pasta, potatoes, pizza, rice, paella, meat, stews, fish etc. The hotel was clean and had 3 lifts which was plenty even when the hotel was fully booked. The lobby bar was nice to sit have a drink with running fountains in the background.

The beach is about a 10 min walk (down a lot of stairs) and you can see the sea from the hotel which is nice. The main night life – KASBAH is about a 20 minute walk and very easy to find.

There were a lot of Germans but we counted 6 other nationalities and it didn’t bother us during the day but it did make the entertainment hard to understand as you had to pick out the English bits.

The only slightly negative point is that our room was at the side of the hotel so you could you could hear a lot of traffic & surrounding noise. But we weren’t in the room long enough to let it bother us.

All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel spotless and rooms were the same. Only half board, meals buffet service and had a great selection and catered for all. Hotel was mainly germans but this did not bother us as it saved the pointless conversations english tend to have around the pool! I would definately take the all inclusive package, all the germans had it and I think there were about 4 other english none of which inclusive. Drinks were bit expensive in hotel cup ot tea apporx. £1.50. We were on 6th floor and it was very noisy outside even with balcony door closed because they have air vents in side which did not block out noise, (I know hotel cannot be held responsible for noise outside) Location good but a 30 minute walk out of centre of Playa Ingles. Lovely walks with sea views though and a stone throw from the bus station. The hotel has a couple of shops attached although one I would avoid, price of water changed daily and short changed us by 10 euros! Overall enjoyed stay although air con would of been great, would recommend for a lazy, sunny break! No free wi fi!

Me and my mother stayed in Continental in April 2009. The hotel was fully booked during the beginning of our stay, but everything was still smooth and fine. The hotel was clean, personnel very friendly. There were a lot of Germans, but they were in no way disturbing or aggressive :). A lot of families, young couples, etc. The matter with sun lounges was there – as there were so many people, it was quite impossible to get one in the morning as they tended to “book” them with towels. But in the afternoon it was not a problem any more. The food was fine, selection quite big. A big plus to the hotel for those, who wish to discover the island, is the location close to the bus station. The public busses run regularly, there is even a sign in the main station in German and English saying which number to take to go to parks, resorts, etc.
I would definitely stay there again.

WE have just returned from IFA Continental. WE had a our 2 year old daughter with us which she was weary of being in a new place but eventually calmed down enough to enjoy. Everything does seem German orientated, which is fair enough but with us not being German it doesnt help. We were really looking forward to taking our 2 year old to the Mini club disco which is held every week night. WEll, it wasnt reeally a disco as such, there was too much talking and prancing about on STAGE. Obviously the older children loved it but our little one was terrified. Enough about that.
Rooms were lovely as was the food but not much difference from one night to the next. Pool looked lovely but every morning we arrived to get some sun loungers they had been reserved with Beech towels (other hotels we have stayed at have had large notices stating this cannot be done) so we did not have the pleasure of sitting by the pool.
Maspalomas is described as a taxi ride away but we walked it on 2 occasions which was lovely but there are some steep steps in places (pushchair user). Took us 90 mins to walk there.
