“Entertainment let down!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

I stayed here with my partner for 2 weeks end of June beginning of July, there are good and bad about this hotel mainly good, but what I look for on here is the bad so il start of with that... The entertainment on a night was probably one of the worst I have ever seen and I travel 3 times a year, every third night there was a fashion show, not to mention the same fashions show that happened on an afternoon around the pool :/ There was a few good shows that really caught my eye but over all the entertainment was the biggest let down of the whole holiday. Sun loungers were a night mare found it every hard to find a stop after 9 am and I wouldn't bother to put your towel out before breakfast as they just get moved which I found out on my first day. Other general things that I didn't seem to agree on is the simpler things like air con in your room which is at an extra cost of 60 euros for a weeks, the tv won't work unless you pay 10 euros for the remote as a deposit which really isn't worth it even tho you get your 10 euros back there is only 1 English Channel which is news. Other than that everything was good food was good always something for everyone, hotel was very clean, service was quick and easy, only a short walk to the beach, kasbar and yumbo centre. I would recommend this hotel if you were to go out every night to find your own entertainment

Myself and 5 friends Stayed at the IFA Continental for the last two weeks in June.
The hotel was spotless and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Perfect location with a lovely beach just over the road. Always managed to get a sun lounger no matter how late we surfaced.
The all inclusive food and drink was great quality and there was a different menu everyday.
Our room had a balcony and sea view (5th floor) and was cleaned thoroughly every day. We slept with the balcony door open most nights and were rarely woken up by any noise (only the odd coach). I didnt see any flies / mosquitos over the whole two weeks which was a nice change!
The hotel entertainment was fine and quite fun to join in with quizzes and games, however we didn't really go away just for the entertainment.
There are a few good bars just outside the hotel, bambinos was my favourite friendly staff and great snack food if you fancy a change or miss breakfast at the hotel!
The kasbah and yumbo centre not too far €3 in a taxi or 10/15 min walk. Couldn't find any fault with the hotel at all and would love to return. PERFECT

Went to this hotel for two weeks end of june begining of july with my wife and our 15 year old girl and had a great time.the reception is spottless and very comfy, the room was also spottless ,cleaned every day no matter how long the cleaner had to wait to get in.all in drinks ,lager, wines, sangria and cocktails all on tap help yourself, never seen more than 4/5 people waiting.day time entertainment the usual stuff. but we thought the night time shows were about the best we have had on holiday.FOOD breakfast, everything you could ever eat for breakie
lunch and tea time were much the same thing, but i'm not complaining as there was loads of choice.honestly if you can't make a different dinner every day your too fussy.POOLSIDE.3 pools all different sizes to suit your needs. I personally thought there was enough loungers for everyone,if you wanted your your usual space be there before 9 .If you wait till lunchtime you will struggle.front of the hotel rooms are a lot quieter than side of hotel rooms.

Room Tip: front of hotel much quieter

I travelled with my husband and 5 year old daughter. We arrived late around 12.30 am and after having a speedy check-in the receptionist informed us that some food had been left for us in the Restaurant. Even though it was very late and my little girl was ready for bed I thought this was a thoughtful thing to do and we had a brief nibble.

The room was cosy and very clean. It was cleaned daily. Infact the whole hotel was very clean. Modern everywhere except the bedroom decor however, this does not affect your stay. Even though the rooms did not have air con we just left our balcony door open overnight and it kept cool. The only downside to that, as we where at the front of the hotel we could hear people walking past or coming back to the hotel in the early hours and some people find it necessary to shout. Also you can hear traffic noise but we didnt find that a problem. The bus station is just around the corner.

We hired a fridge and safe the next day with no bother at all at a cost of 60 euros for both. We stayed 11 nights.

The pool area is set in very nice surroundings. When we booked we were under the impression there was slide in the childrens pool which was an appealing factor and did contribute to our decision to stay there. The slide does not exist. It has obviously been removed and the pool made smaller to fit more sunbeds in. Quite disappointing. There were a lot of sun worshippers and we struggled to get a sunbed near the kids pool during the day and had to just sit at the side of the pool to watch her. There is nothing much for the kids to do apart from play in the pool or be inside playing table tennis. Apparently they do run kids club in school holidays if you like that sort of thing. There is also a small playground area but again not that exciting.

Entertainment on the whole was pretty rubbish. Nothing started until 9.15pm and then it was one game of bingo, and then an act at 10.00pm. There was an acrobat act one night which was really good but other than that not stunning. They had a singer on twice whilst we where there called Betty. It wasnt great she sounded like she was singing through her nose. Was just a noise really to a tune you knew.

The food was excellent, plenty of choice. My 5 year old is a fussy eater and she always found something that she liked. Snacks available all day if you want them and again very good standard. The restaurant did get rather hot in the evening. I had also read on Tripadvisor and in the brochure that long trousers must be worn by gents on an evening in the Restaurant. This did not happen. Loads of people wore shorts.

It was my husbands birthday while we where there and a bottle of bubbly was left in our room. Nice touch. Thank you.

A plus point was you can help yourself to certain drinks. Lager, wines and soft drinks. If you wanted spirits you asked at the bar. The staff are very friendly and the bar staff do get very busy as the evening goes on. The drinks available on the all inclusive were fine and you could even get cocktails too.

The positioning of the hotel is not bad however it is a long walk for little legs to get to the shopping/entertainment centres. Taxis are reasonable. 3 euros to the Yumbo. 5 Euros to Holiday World. 17 euros to Palmitos Park.

If you want to buy water or anything from the supermarket the cheapest is just down the road to the left when you come out of the hotel. So much cheaper than the Tropical Centre near the bus station.

All in all the hotel is very good and we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone wanting nice clean surroundings and lovely food and drink.

Room Tip: We stayed at the front of the hotel which was ok however the whole hotel is surrounded by roads. I...

Dear guest,
We would like to thank you for choosing Gran Canaria and our hotel for your recent holidays and we for posting your opinion about your stay on Tripadvisor.
We appreciate your detailed recapitulation and would like to thank you very much for letting us know the positive but also the negative aspects of your stay, all which helps us to improve our services and provide the perfect holiday experience.
In reference to your comment about the dress code for the restaurant in the hotel, and a point of reference both to you and to any other possible future guest, we would like to add, that, due to the summer month and the higher temperatures we recently eased up the dressing rules a little, and we now admit also short trousers in the Buffet Restaurant at dinner time (except bathing suites and sleeveless shirts). I would also clarify that we apply the dress code - long trousers at the dinner time for gentlemen – in winter season.
We would be delighted to welcome you back on future holidays and remain.
With best regards,
Carlos Martínez

We stayed for 1 week from Thursday 13th of June and i loved every minute of it. Lounging around one of the pools by day and enjoying a drink in the evening in beautiful surroundings. Room was cleaned daily and couldn't find fault with anything. Food was plentiful with great choices both at meal times and with snacks at the poolside bar in between. Would definately go again.

Stayed at the IFA Continental for a week at the end of June with my partner - could not fault the hotel for what it is. Yes breakfast does get boring after a while - why wouldn't it if your eating a buffet every morning? The food was good - plenty of choice with cereals, fruit and both English and continental breakfasts on tap. I stayed on the sixth floor with a beautiful sea view - air con would have been a bonus but what do people expect these days? For what we paid overall I cannot complain and if your too hot then maybe a holiday abroad isn't for you? All in all a great hotel with all you could really ask for.. Staff are friendly and the cleanliness is great - fresh towels and bedding daily. We had no issues with checking in or out and the pool area is great. There is a small black mog that comes to the front of the hotel often (hungry mog) called Meeshie - he does enjoy a little bit of food which is as cheap as chips from the local supermarket - we did this each night as he was too cute to resist (typical Brits!) hopefully someone will keep this up :) - overall dont be put off by negative comments, it's very central yet nice and quiet at night.

Stayed at this hotels end of June turned up and they couldn't find us on the system what a good start ey took them around 30 mins to check us in gave us the wrong key for our door so had t go back down and change it when into out room and they gave us a smoking room when we asked for non smoking the rooms are dated with no aircon or fans which got very warm & uncomfortable! The food was very the same all week! The Sunbeds by the pool were all taken by people with their towels on the hotel said they would move them but they were only folding them back on the bed so it didn't make any difference! We asked for a safe box and kept telling us come back in half hour so most off 1 day was hanging around with our passports as we didn't want to put them down! There was no entertainment in the hotel and most the spirits you had to pay for! Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go back
