Just returned from a weeks break at the IFA Continental and having stayed ina round 6/7 All Inclusive hotels over the years of the same star rating I can quite easily say that the Continental is the best so far.
We arrived around 1pm and were given a very warm welcome by the reception staff who were extremely friendly and helpful in any initial questions that we may have had. It even made us comment as we left the reception desk that it was the best welcome from any hotel we had ever received.
We were on the top floor (7th) of the hotel as we had booked a sea view, there were 3 lifts to the floors of which you never had any problems getting straight into the lift. The room was extremely spacious with two single beds pushed together with small settee and living area in the room. Wardrobe was clean and had ample of coat hangers to ensure you could hang all of you clothes. Balcony was spacious with chairs and table and also washing line which was good and also helps the hotek aesthetically as people don't hang their towels from the balcony. Plenty of literature in your room providing you with all the information you need to know about your stay. Bathroom was clean and tidy with bath and shower. Beds were relatively comfortable. Although a lot of people mentioned their was no air-con, I did not find it unbairable during the night, leaving the balcony door open colled it down a little. Maids cleaned the rooms daily and were very friendly, we had a problem with our key one day and the maid was very happy to help us out. Towels were replaced if you left then in the bath.
Hotel clean in general, on many occasions you would see the carpets being cleaned, the pool area was cleaned properly daily, and cleaners were constantly in reception sweeping.
Food was really quite good, better than a lot of All-Inc's with plenty of variety to choose from, I personally just get a little fed up of the food when I stay all-inc but this year that wasn't really the case. Snacks available during breakfast and lunch, again a good variety, and again for an hour after lunch and before dinner. Drinks including soft drinks, local beer and wines were on a self served basis which was good as queues were never really that big, spirits were ordered by the bar, however cocktails were already prepared so you never had to wait long at all to get a drink.
Entertainment was quite good. The lady (apologies I can't remember her name) was really good and a credit to the team, she communicated well with people of all ages and nationalities and went out of her way to make sure everyone enjoyed the entertainment. Athough we didn't participate, activities were available throughout the whole day including Aqua Gym, Water Polo, Darts, Poker and much more. Evening entertainment was okay, few acts not so good as others but thats down to personal preference.
Locations was good, pretty much one of the first drop offs from the airport, around 25 minute transfer to the resort, this hotels is not in the centre of PLaya Del Ingles, however does have a couple of bars and a smaller shopping centre right next to it, just a little quieter at night which is not a bad thing. 5 minute walk to the beach and around 15 minutes to the centre. It is also flat so no climbing up hills or banks.
Would like to thank all the staff at the Continental for a wonderful stay and should we return to Gran Canaria we would definitely consider returning to this hotel!
