“Perfect!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

Me and my friends visited Guinea Apartments in January 2012. It was clean and fresh. It was a bit noisy from people and buses on the street out front. But non of us thought it was disturbing at all! It was close to everything. 2 minutes to Kasbah and all the clubs. 4 minutes to the supermarket and like 8 minutes to the beach. The beds was not that hard like they normaly is. The balcony was big and had sun from 10 in the morning, to 5 in the afternoon. We were out on the clubs most of the nights and the gate and door to the apartments was open all the time. The pool was clean but cold, you can say that the swim was very refreshing! And the poolarea was clean but the sunbeds did'nt have madrasses. But you could live without as well. The staff was friendly and the cleaning ladies was quick and did a good job. I can highly recommend this apartment hotel, for you who wants a good apartment, don't care too much if its a little sound around and can sleep in a regular bed, its perfect for you!

These appartments were far too noisy when we went, more like 18 - 30's, we had read reviews and someone mentioned the sheets, so it was the first thing I checked, there were stains on them and as it was late, no one to complain too, I moved the pillow and there was a silver fish under there, the fidge was not clean either.
people would come back at night late and go in the pool, some then fell asleep on the sun loungers at stilly O'Clock.
Would not go back, shame as I am not usually pickie as you only sleep there as a rule.

Vacationing with his family. from the outset was not expecting anything special. The hotel is very good location. Close to the beach, quiet street and at the same time in the city center
That did not like: the rooms cleaned badly, very small boiler for hot water, a very modest kitchen. No kettle, 3 plates, 3 forks, one frying pan.

Located in a central area yet close to the beach the apartments are very good value and were kept very clean throughout our stay. Has a lovely enclosed pool area although the pool bar was hardly ever open but that might just be for the time of year. Staff very accommodating and helpful (had a couple of small issues but they were dealt with efficiently). Overall more than pleased with the facility for the price paid and would return if the opportunity occurs.

Decent apartments in a good location . Five minute walk to beach and Kasbah but about 15 minute walk to Yumbo Centre . Beds are camp bed style and do squeak , not a problem if your not fussy or drunk . As with a lot of places in GC it needs a coat of paint but they have all you need or want . May be an issue in peak season because there are only about 20 sunbeds around the pool , not an issue last week . Would stay again but prefer to be nearer Yumbo Centre

Room Tip: We had room 205 which opened onto pool , only a few have this

Stayed here for first two weeks in November 2011. Apt. 609 with lovely view out to the sea and Maspalomas point in the distance. You get what you pay for here. Thrown into the bargain these apartments are very spacious, bright, airy and clean with great sized balconies.

Apartments can be either one or two bedroomed, the one bedroomed are extremely spacious. Lounge with two 'comfy seats' and settee, coffee table and sideboard with coin operated TV (never used the TV but from experience there are are only one or two English language channels in the Canaries and these tend to be news channels only).Kitchen containing modern units, sink and drainer, granite worktops, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a double hallogen hob. No kettle, however, there is a small pan which can be used for boiling water in on the hob. Kitchen utensils/implements very limited. Bedrooms compact. Beds are of reasonable quality, hard base topped by foam matress variety. Very firm matress (if you prefer a soft bed then not for you). Pillows are a bit lumpy and old - could be better. Patio door to balcony allows breeze in and at night which cn be welcome as their is no aircon or fans. Wardrobe contains safety deposit box (chargeable). Bathrooms, basic but adequate. Beds changed once per week. No problems experienced with hot water supply which comes from a small electric tank (housed on kitchen cupboard). Really long hot showers are out of the question but perfectly fine for a 3-5 minute shower. Advise waiting 15-20 minutes between each person having a shower to allow the tank to reheat. Towels changed every two days. There was a very slight odour from drains at times (more a symptom of the warm climate rather than cleanliness and not uncommon even in far grander accommodation) but apartments air through quickly. The big bonus of these apartments is the generous sized balconies (we moved the comfy lounge furtniture out there and made it an outdoor living room)! Plastic patio table and chairs provided. Swimming pool area is well maintained and clean. The onsite Guinea Bar, which is underneath the terreace/swimming pool was not open at all during our stay (it is possibly only open in the low season - which, in the Canaries is the summer months). There are plenty restaurants/cafes and bars nearby.

LOCATION - great for access to the beach (turn right out of apts. and head to promenade and stairs at end of Calle Helsinki. Several Commercial Centres in the vicinity (though these are all in various states of decline, particulalry the Plaza, Metro and Kasbah centres which are very run down). Two nearest supermarkets - Hiper Dino Express in the Plaza/Metro centres.

TWO MINOR DOWNSIDES to location and a WORD OF WARNING! - after midnight the area around the commercial centres (well behind the apartments) is frequented by prostitutes and 'soft' drug dealers so you may be offered all manner of 'things' for 50 Euros!? If walking through the area late on, of course keep your wits about you. Keep walking with a smile and a polite 'no gracias',you'll be left alone. At the weekens hordes of Spanish youngsters park up in the area around the commercial centres, drinking (never saw any trouble though) and playing loud music from their car sound systems - the area can be noisy and you do get noise coming into the apartments - light sleepers take some ear plugs! Better to be forewarned!

Much of the budget accommodation stock in Playa del Ingles is dull and dated but the Guinea, although built over 40 years ago, is certainly at the top end of the budget accomm. range. The apts. are predominantly used by Scandinavian tour operators so the majority of clientele is from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, with a smattering of Btitish and other nationalites in the minority.

If 'simple' is all you need ie you are mostly out by day and dine out/go out in the evenings then the place is likely to be perfectly adequate. Would go back without hesitation as the Guinea is really such good value.

Room Tip: Rooms on sixth and seventh floors have great sea views. Level 3 is really ground level, rooms on lev...

Once again having read bad reviews i was slightly nervous however we were proved wrong once again!
Expect what you pay for and you cant go far wrong!!
The rooms were clean and spacious and big enough for the 4 of us staying there! The highlight was probable the large balcony and apprently rooms 707 and 706 have views to die for!
The pool was always cleaned every morning and the pool area tidy.
The pool bar run by the lovely julie was great for our breakfast or lunch, julies cooking was lovely and her tips on where to visit were great! Thank Julie!
The Hotel is very close to the beach and the kasbah centre and in walking distance of the yumbo and irish centre!
We would definatly stay again great holiday!
