Just back from our 3rd year at Las Margaritas, we had a fabulously relaxing holiday, the First Choice Childrens club was brilliant (well done Childrens Reps - Claire, Kristie, Luise & Becca).
The accomodation was spotless, but very 70's. The food wasn't all that bad even if a little repetitive at times. The entertainment team this year were the best we have seen, while the quality of the shows hired by the hotel has deteriorated, they were shorter shows and not of the same quality that we have seen in previous years. The entertainment team led by Baldo and Nick were fantastic, they had activitiies around the hotel pool all day and performed shows (Grease and Comedy Show) twice a week. Baldo's AquaGym was a big favourite closely followed by Bingo at 16:30!
There were a couple of things that annoyed us this time, the pool and ground floor wc's are not clean. The staff in the restaurant and pool bar can be rude to non Spanish speaking customers, we were shouted at by a waitress on our first night for sitting at the wrong table! The other thing that annoyed us was that they started removing the sunbeds as early as 17:00 when there was at least another hour of sun to lounge in.
This year there is a distinct difference in the profile of patrons in the hotel, there are a lot of Spanish families spending weekends there so expect it to be very busy from Friday through to Monday. During the week there is no problem getting sunbeds and a leisurely stroll to the pool at 9am will probably guarantee a sunbed.
Overall, we had a great holiday, but we won't be going back because, apparantly, Las Margaritas won't be in the First Choice brochure for Summer 2010, there is a new hotel in Meloneras that is replacing it so we intend to check that one out instead.
