I am a teenager and i have a sister who is two years older than me and in october my parents took us on a holiday to make up for the one we didn't go on in the summer. I must say that when we arrived at the hotel, i wasn't too keen on the decor of the hotel lobby and i got a bit suspisious about the rest of the hotel. Was it going to be a hotel full of older people??? Well, i can tell you now that it wasn't. In fact, there was a big group of french teenagers and a few toddlers. Due to it being night time when we got didn't really get to see that much about the hotel however, when we got to our room, we had a kitchen, a balcony looking over the children's playground, which i wasn't too keen about, and my sister and i slept in the 'lounge', but it was unbelievably comfortable!!! I have never slept so well!!! The swimming pool is extremely cold when you first get in unless you take a shower before and a little tip is to put your towels on the sunbeds before breakfast, otherwise, they've all gone! There was a good variety of food at the buffet however, my family struggled a little bit because we are vegetarians. We did like the idea of everynights' dinner having a different theme eg. spanish, mexican. The entertainment at the Sandy Beach was great fun and everyday there are competitions going on, whether it's ping pong, sjolback, shuffleboard, darts, french bowls, or mini golf! My family did extremely well and there are always prizes to be won!!! Also, my family had a great time playing tennis on the courts despite the sun being blazing hot! The hotel is close to shops, restaurants, and the local beach!!! Even though, i went to Gran Canaria in October, it rained twice, but only for 5 mins max and once furing dinner but i still came away with a nice tan!!! The evening entertainmet was brilliant and i personally liked the idea of all entertainments being varied. ie. dancers, bingo, singers, quiz etc... Lastly, the staff are very friendly and extremely quick at preparing a table for you in the restaurant immediately after the previous family have left.

We could not book a package deal for this hotel but had to book flights and accommodation separately. Big plus was location near to main beach and shopping centres. Food was excellent. Very comfortable and clean rooms. In a busy resort hotel is an Oasis of calm. Only downside was cost of wine with dinner - about 12 euros for half a bottle.

Plus: rooms are spacious, swimming pool is nice and clean, some staff members are friendly and helpful, well located between sea-Yumbo center-Kasbah center.
Minus: room (and especially the bath room) needs to be modernised, temperature from water in shower goes from very hot to very cold, chip system at pool doesn't work properly, some very unfriendly staff members (hotel focuses mainly on German guests from 50+), the food is not bad but I have already eaten better in other 4* hotels.
In conclusion: not a bad hotel but I would rather rate it with 3* than 4* (taking into account Spanish standard).

We have just returned from a 12 night stay at the Sandy Beach and had a brilliant time. The hotel is very clean and the selction of food is excellent. The first room we were given was immediately above the bar and restaurant and was noisy (especially when they were setting up for breakfast). The reception staff were very helpful in organising for us to move rooms.
There is lots to do in Playa Del Ingles and although the beach gets quite crowded, if you walk along a bit further there is plenty of room. We tended to go to the beach as the pool area in the hotel gets quite crowded and people get up very early to reserve the sun beds.
Service in the bar was ok while we were there. For meal times there is a small non smoking area outside but the majority is smoking. We were on a half board basis but because there was so much choice for breakfast we didn't really need to eat lunch anyway.
We also enjoyed the spa area on the 10th floor with sauna and steam room. This is adults only and had some sun loungers on the roof.
Entertainment in the evening was quite limited but there is so much to do in the area we went out most nights. We especially enjoyed watching Archie in the Dunes & Tunes Irish Bar on the Beach and the show at La Belle in the Yumbo centre.

We've booked all-inclusive holidays before just for the good deal and with the full intention of ditching the meals. Not here. The restaurant is excellent - simple as that. Pool is not massive but there are plenty of sunbeds. The pool service guys look after you very well. Pool bar can get a bit crowded at times and the staff sometimes get a bit stressed but that's no problem really. Rooms are very clean and regularly serviced - ours was a double on the 6th floor with a massive shower. This is a great hotel.
