“Warm winter break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Stayed for one week. Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms spotlessly clean and comfortable, our balcony had an excellent sea view. Bathroom had complimentary shower gel, soap, shampoo and a hair dryer. Bedroom had plenty of wardrobe space and drawers plus a fridge which you had to ask at reception if you wanted it stocked, but good for keeping water and wine cool.
Yumbo centre was a few minutes walk away but we found that the drinks in the hotel were cheaper than at outside bars.
Complimentary bus from the hotel takes you to and from the beach and bars during the day, take the bus for your first trip so as to check the quickest way to the beach as it is a nice walk there but a bit of a drag to walk back as mostly uphill.
Food at the hotel was buffet for breakfast and evening meal with two sittings in the evening at 6 and 8.
Take your own towels for the pool as none are provided.
Good holiday we would use this hotel again.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor road side, no real noise from the road or from the bars across the road.

We stayed at Riu Don Miguel because our first choice was fully-booked, and now we have a real problem! - because Riu was perfect (almost)
The hotel has a real modern contemporary feel about it. The communal areas are stunning. The pool/pool-side restaurant/gym are really modern and inviting.
Our room was clean and contemporary with a nice South-facing balcony although we faced the road and not the pool, our room (367) was a long walk back to reception/lifts/pool/dining room, and was a bit of a pain when returning back to the hotel from say the Yumbo, there are other external gates but there is no entrance via these for some reason!
Food at Don Miguel was fantastic, lots of choice from cold and hot buffets as well as freshly prepared dishes right in front of you.
You have to pay for a decent wi-fi connection, which surprised us! and beach towels are not provided! - you'll have to buy your own or bring your own!
Overall we had a fantastic holiday - we love Playa del Ingles, the location of Don Miguel is perfect and we will definitely return - thanks to all the staff! x

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the pool!

Stayed at this hotel for one week. Very good 3 star hotel, apparently recently refurbished. 5 minutes walk to shops and about half an hour walk to the beach. All staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Rooms very good standard, comfortable, clean and with balcony. Stayed half board, buffet breakfast and evening meal. A la carte is available or an extra 12 euros. Bar prices good. Entertainment – easy listening music. Good swimming pool and well equipped gym. It is possible to go on organised trips, but reception staff will provide maps, and advice on taxis, buses, etc. We found this an easy and cheaper option. They don’t provide towels for the swimming pool, so it is necessary to take your own.

Back from another visit to G C and our first time at the Don Meguel. We have to agree with many of the previous reviews and agree that the hotel is very clean throughout. The food at breakfast and diner was of a good standard with the only problem being with our allocated time of 8pm in the evening. The choise of food was ok but made up for it on the amount. Pool is average in size and despite the hotel having a policy of not being able to reserve beds this was not kept to!!!!. Main guests were not British but the atmosphere is still very friendly. Only real complaint is that oour room 268 is at the furthest away from reception and it took abouy 10 min to get from the room to the dining area as only 2 lifts available at the other end of the building. Would prossibly goback as it is good value for money

Stayed here for 1 week , 2-9 February, found hotel to be absolutely spotless everywhere, was constantly being cleaned in every area, room 317 faced road had some traffic noise but didn't bother us, room spacious, comfy beds , safe and fridge , safe only cost 14 euros per week with no deposit, bathroom spacious with complimentary toiletries, maids in room everyday and were very nice, restaurant spotless, food was great , plenty choice at both breakfast and dinner , always restocking and cooking food fresh, chefs very friendly , staff and management welcomed you before meal, any drinks in restaurant had to be paid at reception next day or end of stay , pool area yet again spotless and constantly cleaned , pool guy constantly mopping floor and tidying up , plenty of sun beds , bar staff very friendly, night entertainment was ok , resident singer was good , Joe thomson rep was very nice and helpful. We weren't able to have a late check out but wasn't a problem as there are 2 courtesy rooms where you can shower and towels are supplied, also storage for suitcases . Simply cannot fault the hotel would highly recommend it to anyone, we thoroughly loved it. It definetly merits a 4 star rating not just a 3 star.

Hotel spotless, food very good, service excellent, Pool a bit crammed in.BBC and Sky news only on the tv. Our room was a way from the reception, so if anyone has difficuties in walking, ask for a room near to the reception lift area. Wasn't too keen on Playa del Ingles, windy, bit tired looking. Ingles beaches 15 minute stroll from the hotel. Try Maspalomas/Meloneras. Great Beaches tho the nudist parts are too plenty! The only downer from this hotel for me was the entertainment, ridiiculous and at times embarrasing! a cover band would have been far better than people dancing around with lampshades on their heads! Otherwise I would recommend this hotel, for a 3 star, excellent value.
