“Lost its sparkle?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

We had a couple of average meals here which is a shame as it was our favourite for many years. The chef should stay in the kitchen and let front of house staff do their thing

“Very good, glad we revisited”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2011

Went there last night (Thursday) with 4 friends, and had a good meal. The restaurant's been decorated so it's not so black/red as previously, good choice of food and it was so nice to be in a "proper" restaurant compared to so many places in the Yumbo centre where it's expensive, lower quality food. Lamb falafels were a good started with a nice mint sauce, and mains of grilled tuna, filled steak all went down very well. I liked the wine list, there's a good Rioja on it. Atmosphere was nice, it wasn't full when we were there, but the best meal so far this trip. The service was a tad slow now and then, but not overly so. We'll go back a second time this week for sure.

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

Took my partner here for a special dinner on the last night of our holiday as a treat as we normally dine in the yumbo centre,it was pretty quiet there the night we chose only three other tables ....
We were attended by a waiter in chefs uniform with very bad English ,we both ordered steaks one medium and the other well done, the medium arrived at the table as a rare steak, the well done arrived as a blue steak (bloody)....
We called the waiter back to tell him,he took them away to adust them, when they returned they were less bloody this time, the 4peices of veg that was on the plate were hard, barely cooked...
Over all a very disappointing meal compared to all the meals we had eating in the jumbo centre ,we won't return......

“Great food and chilled atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

This is an excellent restaurant despite the rather strange decor which makes it look rather like a chineese, black tables, red chairs, black and white floor etc.
I have been going here ever since it opened and it has changed hands, however, the new owners and staff are lovely and this has given the place a relaxed informal charm.
Open luch time and evenings the menu is certainly not typical of the other restaurants in Playa Del Ingles. I ended up going 3 times in 1 week and as a solo dinner I felt very comfortable.
I particulary liked the Gazpacho, the fig,ham and goats cheese salad (and the chef!)
but there was enough on the menu for at least another 10 visits without getting bored.
A nice change from Merlin's Restaurant which is just across the road.

“Un mundo aparte in Playa del Ingles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2011

At least a restaurant you can call as such in Playa del Ingles, a place where you shouldn't go for good eating.
It's amazing that in a location devoted to tourism everything is about cheap eating without any attention to quality.
El Mundo is a world apart.
Without spending a fortune you can have a good experience in an enjoyable atmosphere with a good combination of tradition and creativity.
We went there also other times and the restaurant lives to our expectations.
From outside it doesn't impress you, but inside is much nicer.
Food is well prepared and the service also good.
It's a pity you cannot eat outside.
