Well we had seen advertisements and leafelts for sioux city and they did not do it justice, the leafelts make it look childish and kiddy-fied but this is not the case. I went with my girlfiend, both of us in our twentys and had a great day out.
Sioux City was build as a western style set of a film god knows how many years ago, and it has now been made into a theme park, but not in the usual sense, there are no rollercoasters and only a handful of rides and all for very small children.
It cost us 17 euros per adult to enter, (you can pay 40 euros for an evening show and bbq on a friday night which is ment to be very good, but i couldnt see the point in paying that much extra)
The whole palce is amazing to look at, its like being catapulted into the wild west with cowboys and indians roaming down the sandy streets around the tourists, making ti feel as though you are actualy in a western town.
There is plenty to do from a petting zoo, with horses donkeys chickens cows etc, and even crocodiles (which you cant pet), there is even a reptile house if you like scary snakes and spiders!
You can wander around the town in and out of many of the buildings such as a jail, bar saloon, bank, church and a few more. And even rent a horse to get about.
The saloon is a real bar serving food and drink at a very reasonable price, this is also the set for a number of the shows and skits put on throughout the day.
The shows are what makes this place, there is everything from Red Indians doing knife throwing to a full scale bank robbery in the high street, with shoot-outs etc.
What makes this so good is that your not sat down watching from a distance, bits of the high street are roped off so you are only standing meters away from the action, again adding the the feel that you are really there!
Once inside everything is reasonably priced and you do not feel you are being ripped off like so many other theme parks, in all it was one of the best days of our holiday! Another perk is, all the acting is either in english or translated into english, so you dont miss out!
A definate must for gran canaria!
