Spent 2 weeks here from 17th October to 1st November, couple with our 2 children aged 13 and 7. Arrived at 1.00am in the morning, Reception staff dealt with new arrivals quickly and they were very courteous and helpful. On entering our room it was like opening an oven door and we thought no way can we deal with this (No air conditioning) for 2 weeks , however once the patio doors were opened it cooled down very quickly and we found it wasn’t a problem for the rest of the holiday if we opened the patio doors as soon as we got in and we kept them open all night. Room cleaned to a high standard every day and they took care to tidy the kids games and toys. Had to pay extra to get more English channels on TV, but this was worth it as we watched a few movies in the evening.
This hotel is quite big and the second week we were there was half-term week in England so the hotel was at its capacity as more families came out. This meant there were sometimes very long queues in the dining room but we soon got around this by going to dinner as soon as the dining room opened. Also the Management appeared to get a little stricter with the dress code for the dining room on the second week and they were turning some men away who turned up in shorts. The food was excellent, loads of choice and Chinese selection every evening. All inc drinks were okay, however cocktails weren’t very nice so tended to stick to sangria in the evening.
The jewel in the crown for this hotel are the swimming pools. Slides are great and 3 separate pools. Could sometimes be a scramble for sun loungers but this was because hotel was full. Sun loungers are also plotted around the grounds and there is a lovely area by the kids club where there is a nice sea view from the loungers.
Entertainment wasn’t great but the animation team worked very hard and they have to cater for so many nationalities. Enjoyed the water aerobics!
The beach is about 10 minutes walk away reached by 100 + steps, not nice on the way back going up in 30°C heat !! so we hired a car for a few days and went to Las Palmas, Maspalomas, Puerto Rico and Puerto Morgan (lovely picturesque town).
All in all a great hotel, excellent value for money.
