Excellent hotel in good postion with commanding views across the bay. On arrival we were put in a low level room behind the swimming pool but we asked to be moved and with no hesitatuion we were moved to th 8th floor. The Thalasso was well woth the experiance and the massage was also very good. Service around pool resturant was slow but the food served was good. The buffet meal (breakfast and eveningmeal) were both good with fresh food cooked in front of you at all times. Menu was varied each day. On the whole a excellent hotel for a quick winter break.

This is a good, clean and comfortable hotel. There are several heated swimming pools, including a great pool on the hotel roof which has superb views and is surrounded by a chill-out zone. The family rooms have two adjoining separate bedrooms, but do not have the excellent views found in the main hotel building. The buffet style restaurant food was very good and my advice is to at least book the half board option. San Agustin is quiet, but the beach is pleasant and the hotel run a shuttle bus to Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas if you want a busier resort. The trip inland to Fataga was beautiful, but not for the faint hearted or travel sick!

We (and three kids) loved our holiday here.

Well, I was a little disappointed actually. I had read the reviews before I left and thought some people sounded picky, but I'd have to agree. This hotel is rated as four stars... have no clue how it got so high of a rating.

The hotel room was infested by miniature ants...it was disgusting. The beds were hard as a rock, and the pillows were just aweful.

San Augustin itself is a dump. There isn't much to do if you want to leave the hotel. The pools are gorgeous though, I'll give it that... the roof was beautiful. But unfortunately, we didnt have the most amazing weather, so when you can't go in the pool, there is nothing to do. We have two small children so we weren't able to go to the spa which I heard was wonderful.
Atleast the hotel offered a free shuttlebus to Maspalomas. That was beautiful! Next time I will stay at a hotel there!!!

Just got back from a stay at the Gloria Palace and I loved it. I booked with Thomas Cook and yes we got a first floor room but the hotel is elevated so the view was amazing, besides I used the amazing Thai Beds on the 9th floors chill out terrace.
I was upset when I looked at the tickets after leaving the travel agent because we had thought that we were booking the Amadores Gloria Palace. So did the Thomas Cook agent, but anyway the hotel we got was beautiful to look at, relaxing and the service was very good.
The hotel is populated mostly with German tourists then Dutch, Danish and so on. This wasn't a problem for me but might not be to everyones taste. And there were plenty of sun loungers!
The main Buffet restaurant is often packed at peak times but we had breakfast before the 9am rush, and dinner after the 7:30 pm rush. The food was regularly replenished and I certainly never had to reset my table as the staff were helpful (if very busy).
The Restaurant Gorbea on the 9th floor is excellent also and they make a mean cocktail!

  • Liked — the hotel itself and the Get In Shape Thallasotherapy pool
  • Disliked — Twin Beds instead of a double

The Gloria Palace is a great hotel....... if you don't mind waking up to cockroaches on your balcony.
Its a great hotel if you don't mind the senior staff on reception and in the restaurant being surly and often aggressively unhelpful.
Its a great hotel if you don't mind having to lay your own table for meals.
Its a great hotel if you don't mind a room twenty yards from the pool bar with music and games amplified so that the whole of the coast from Maspalomas to Las Palmas can hear.
Its a great hotel if you don't mind being let into the dining room half an hour after the 'Group' (whoever they were) by which time it wsa heaving and most of the starter trays in the buffet were empty and not replaced.
Having got the above off my chest...
The Talasotherapia was terrific - if a bit pricey.
The room was okay.
The junior staff were always very helpful - I felt sorry for them being bullied by their senior coleagues.
The food was okay.
We went with Thomas Cook, who we were told, only book the lower floors which have no view except for the bar area - inevitably noisy. The upper floors, with sea views and away from the noise, appear to be the province of German travel companies (The Group? maybe).

Would I stay there again?
Not on your nelly!
