“Best Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Booked this hotel because of Tripadviser reviews and the fact that the hotels in Maspalomas/Meloneras were outrageously expensive. How lucky we were-this was the BEST EVER. We spent 2 glorious weeks here in mid November and could not find a fault in any department.
Very modern spotless comfortable room on the 7th floor.
Food at breakfast and dinner was superb. A huge variety, fish of all types, steak, roast beef and on one night they served the most delicious ham I have ever tasted. Food superb brilliant BEST EVER.
The staff are most friendly and they work really hard and always with a smile. We had the same waiter for the best part of the 2 weeks and he looked after us exceedingly well. Good fun too, thanks Francisco Javier and on a few nights ably assisted by Jose.
As we are beach people we did not sample pool life but i did notice the depts of the pools at 1.70m and 1.50m which would have excluded me anyway-too deep. But everyone at the pool appeared to be enjoying themselves and involved in the activities. The hotel provides its own exclusive bus for trips to Playa del Ingles and Meloneras and we availed of this on a number of occassions another good service.
Ten minutes down the Hill is a very nice little beach-las burras-great waves.Did I say Hill??
Yes the journey back up the hill can be a problem if you are not good on the "pins" lungs or "ticker". The climb commences beside the lower part of the hotel and extends for 2 hundred yards right to the entrance. It can be avoided of course by availing of the excellant bus service or getting a taxi.Dont let this hill put you off. Taxi prices to Playa del Ingles about 5e , to Maspalomas from 6.50e for one trip to 9e for another,so take your pick and be lucky.
The shopping centre in San Agustin is a bit worn out looking but has a good supermarket and as well a great little shop to purchase your spirits for the journey home. Good Price in the liquor shop Senor.
All in all a great hotel and brilliant 2 weeks.
Thanks to all in the Gloria Palace

Room Tip: ask for a high floor to the east side if you like sun in the afternoon west is quieter though

My wife and I spent a woderful week at Gloria Palace in Mid November 2012. The staff and service were supurb nothing was too much trouble. There was plenty of entertainment and a good variety of food at every meal.
I don,t know when this resort was built but there are one or two areas that show up as a bit tired and in need of refurbishment, however to complain would be churlish. The hotel well deserves it's 4 * and we would recommend it to anyone.
The one point to watch however is car hire, if you use the service in the hotel (not part of the hotel) make sure what you are getting before you pay up. We finished up with a rather old high milage car with 168000 kmon the clock.

We have just returned from a week at the Gloria palace all inclusive and it was superb. The food, cleanliness, choice, entertainment and everything about it was beyond our expectations. I used to be a holiday rep years ago and this is one of the best places I have been. We will definitely be booking again next year. Congratulations and keep up the excellent work.

Location - Hotel was first stop off the coach and less than 30 mins away.

Hotel - arrival glass of bubbly a lovely idea. Hotel is spotless both bedroom and public areas really couldn't fault. The spa is fantastic and certainly worth a visit for a few hours it cost around 20 euros.

Service - was either fantastic or terrible. I actually timed how long it took to get served one afternoon ...15 mins with only one person in front to be served. We also witnessed one chap shouting later that eve because he was fed up with the service. The salon bar was the worst at 6.30pm service was awful as was the cocktails! The food - all of the veg was luke warm as was pizza as this was just left out on a cold plate no warmer. We tried both sittings to see if that made a difference alas no. We did find lunch to be much better than dinner. The salads were fantastic - smoked salmon went down a treat as did choice of fruit both plentiful. Wine -we tried the white but tasted like fortified wine so stuck to the red or rose (red was the best even when they served it chilled).
The gym - free for one hour at lunch time so we paid to go earlier one day. Gym doesn't open until 10 so you can't go before breakfast and have the whole day then to yourself, there is also no air con or music. Even at 10am in November it was too hot. This should have been free or at least put in air con to justify the charge.

Free wifi was great too.

The hotel should be proud of their cleaning staff but they need to invest in hot plates that keep food warm and review consistency in service levels...as we experienced both ends of the scale.

Room Tip: High floors for a sea view

We stayed here for one week in November. The weather was hot and sunny nearly every day :)

Our large room on the sixth floor was everything we could have hoped for. Two large beds, a bed-settee, plenty of wardrobe space, a well equipped bathroom and a balcony with sea view over the pool. There were no issues with sound from adjoining rooms or from the stage area below. When sitting on the balcony we could enjoy the music from below, but once the doors were closed all the noise was blocked out. The beds were extremely comfortable and had great nights sleep all week. When we arrived we did ask reception for extra pillows as there were only one on each bed and no spares in the cupboard. After five hours they had not arrived and we had to ask again at 10 and at 11 as we wanted to go to bed! They did eventually arrive along with apologies for the delay. Other than this, service was prompt and efficient all week.

The prices that the hotel charged for stocking the min-bar were extortionate (over 7 euros for a can of coke) but we bought beers and cokes from a shop in the town for a fraction of the cost and stocked the fridge ourselves.

We had half-board and the food was varied and plentiful. The quality was acceptable but not outstanding. On two nights we did pay for dinner in the restaurant on the 9th floor - the quality was so much better and the service was what you would expect from a top restaurant.

Limited entertainment is provided through the day, but we did need a break way from the pool every now and then! The beach at San Agustin was a 10 minute walk away but was perefect for an afternoon stroll. Complimentary buses are provided to take you further afield to Playa Del Ingles or Malpalomas, and taxis to Playa Del Ingles were under 5 euros. We hired a car for the week (prebooked from the airport for under 100 euros) and it gave us a lot more flexibility to get around. The roads are fine and well signposted.

We didn't use the adjoining health/spa facilities, but they appeared to be popular.

We would use the hotel again.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view. All rooms have balconies and get sun throughout the day.

We made our choice of hotel based on the reviews we read on Trip Advisor. Yes sure you can nit pick, everyone can find fault if you look hard enough and that applies to this hotel too, but overall our stay was an extremely pleasant one. Excellent amenities, superb buffet selection for both breakfast and dinner. The staff were very friendly and accomodating too. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Would definitely stay here again.

Just returned from Gloria Palace in Gran Canaria. The hotel is lovely, the room was huge (2 bedrooms, with a balcony front & rear). The pools and surrounding areas were kept clean and tidy, and the general standard of cleanliness and maintenance were high. Maid service every day. Staff were friendly and plentiful. We only stayed B&B but the restaurant was spotless and the choice at breakfast time was huge. Good English style bacon & sausages to allow a full-English, as well as almost everything else you may want at breakfast. The rooftop chillout area and restaurant was great and the thalassotherapy pool was fantastic.

There is a large shopping/restaurant centre just down the road, and the beach is just 5 minutes away. The hotel provide free bus services to Playa Del Ingles and Maspalomas, although a taxi is less than 4 euros & 6 euros to those places.

All in all we had a great holiday, helped in part by the brill weather.
