“wonderful stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Looking for a sunny place, beautiful beach, christal clear water, hotel directly at the beach, you can walk for miles at the beach. Yes, you have landed at the Riu Palace Jandia, with a staff that is working to make your stay comfortable in every way. Friendly reception staff, the rooms kept very, very clean, the staff at the restaurants and bars serving you so friendly.

No wonder, we landed at this hotel about 13 or 14 times during the past years. I will definitely want to come back again, even if I just came back home after a week´s stay. The spacious rooms are so well kept, ok it will come to a time the baths will have to be renewed, but thanks to the good housekeeping, they are at the moment very OK. The rooms are of much more than average size, with very large beds , with a sort of living room. In orther hotels they usually call this type of accommadion for junior suites. If you choose blocks C and D you have the ocean right before you and you can sit on the balcony f.ex. in the evening before dinner and enjoy the nice atmosphere.

The breakfast is very good. You have everething from freshly pressed juices, fruit and jougort to beacon and eggs and selection of cheeses etc. The dinner is served from the buffet. It is all freshly made, partrly show cooking, I enjoy it every evening, even if I´m staying for 14 days, it offers so much different things.

My wife and I spent a week at this hotel in March, They try very hard to please the Germans but are not so cooperative with us Brits (in the minority at this Hotel) but give them 9 out of 10 for effort. The Hotel is getting tired, Lifts not working,Bedrooms need TLC and the assistant Manager needs a lesson in customer dedication. After staying at other Riu Hotels this overall was a bit of a dissappointment. But give credit when it is due the Staff made a good effort to please.
Would I recommend it? yes I would ,but be aware that it is built on a hill side so clients who have a walking disability be careful.
Riu Hotels could make this superb with a little investment

Room Tip: Make sure you are above the reception area, ie in A block or similar

We came back yesterday the weather was wonderful all week, nothing is too much trouble for the staff they work as a team and are a credit to the hotel. sometimes buffet food can be hit and miss but not in this case it was always hot and lots of choice and good quality , there are a lot of steps so maybe if you have any mobility problems it would be better if your room was in the main building which is block A. we paid extra for a full sea view which was block D, if you want a relaxing holiday this is the place for you.

Room Tip: high floor in block a

My husband and I went for eleven days in Feb. Although we were told to ask for D block rooms we opted for A 213. This had sun on the balcony all day and a full view of the sea and it overlooked the swimming pool. I would go for any of the A block rooms but A313 would give you a more spectacular view. We had a great time. We don't bother with the entertainment anyway. We took a travel kettle with us as there are no tea making facilities. I took milk from the breakfast every morning and juice, using screw top plastic mugs. The Germans were taking away platefuls of food. We usually take fruit to eat at lunchtime as it is tempting to overeat. The hotel is full of Germans but they were all fine. The food was great especially the roast meat every night. I swam a lot and the pool was lovely. I did get robes for us but had to ask. I said that I was going to swim a lot and one towel a day would not do, so they offered me a robe. The staff are really lovely. The sister hotel a short distance away is the Calypso. It has been refurbished. The Palace needs refurbishing. It is spotless but faded. I chose it over the Calypso because it has a table tennis table. Anyway I would recommend this hotel absolutely. We had good weather as well which always helps. Things to take, kettle, dried milk, screw top mugs, big bar of own soap as the soap provided is tiddly.

This was our 10th visit to this wonderful hotel since 2005, and this time we stayed for two weeks over Christmas and New Year.

I have written previous reviews about this hotel, and won't repeat what I have said there. I would just say that the standards and service in this hotel never slip and just get better!

We always stay in a room in D Block directly overlooking the beautiful beach, and the only sound you hear is that of the waves breaking on the beach. Some other reviewers have referred to traffic noise, and that tends to be in rooms in block B (side sea view) which do in some cases overlook the road, so in our view it is well worth paying the extra for a full sea view room. The rooms are really like suites and are very well maintained by the maids.

The hotel arranged special cocktails prior to Gala Dinners on both Christmas Day and New Years Eve, and the Gala Dinners themselves were absolutely wonderful, both in the attention that went into "dressing" the dining room and the quality and selection of food and drink. What really stood out was the way in which the staff of the hotel really made an effort to look after guests, ensuring that everyone had an excellent time. The New Years Eve Dinner was followed by a party in the main bar lounge which was thoroughly enjoyable and extremely well planned.

What really makes this hotel stand out from others is the friendliness and efficiency of all of the staff, who do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable.

The resort itself is quiet but very relaxing, with a beautiful beach and the small fishing village of Morro Jable is a short walk away where there are a good selection of bars and restaurants, most directly overlooking the sea.

If you are looking for a really relaxing break in comfortable surroundings, with great food and service, and adjoining a beautiful beach then give this hotel a try - we love it and although we holiday elsewhere as well, we always look forward to returning to the Riu Palace Jandia.

Room Tip: Rooms in Block D overlook the beach and benefit from sun for most of the day.

Stayed for 2 weeks in October 2012. Enjoyed the hotel, nice staff, excellent food, restaurant well organised. Nice spacious room, clean and comfortable. We requested a quiet room, but were in A block and overlooked the pool where the daily entertainment took place. It was dreadful entertainment (the worst we have ever experienced!) and did not finish until 10.30pm, and we were then subject to the noise of drunken holiday makers until the early hours of the morning. We asked for a kettle as there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room. The staff were very quick to respond to any requests and happy to oblige. The hotel had an exceptional amount of steps, both within the hotel and to get down to the beach. We didn't mind as it was an excuse to walk off all the food we had enjoyed, but after a lazy day on the beach, returning hot and tired to the hotel, the steps did feel something of an effort. However, the beach was well worth the walk as it was stunningly beautiful. We bought a parasol and found a quieter part of the beach and had lovely long lazy days in wonderful weather, and drank cold local beer, it was bliss! We would definitely return again, although would request to be well away from the pool area. We really enjoyed the resort but next time would take a German translation book with us as this resort is geared up for the Germans. We had gone expecting to have to speak some Spanish, but shopkeepers write their signs and talk to tourists in German. We went with Thomson holidays. The plane out was old and uncomfortable, and although the return flight was better, they have made so many cutbacks it felt like an economy flight. The hotel was also expensive and we felt overpriced. However, we did really enjoy our holiday and we liked the hotel and the resort. We would very much like to return and would recommend to others, provided they have no mobility problems.

Me and my daughter went to Fuertaventura for 1 week holiday in January ( 12th to 19th Jan 2013).
We stayed at the RIU Palace Jandia. Very Nice Hotel. Rooms are big and clean. We paid for full sea view / half board and we got what we have requested. We also requested for Block D, which has the best sea view as per previous customers recommended. We got all our requests.
Food was lovely, many varieties and plenty. The waiters were very attentive and not intrusive.
The only negative side was the many steps down to the sea front/ beach. It was quite a way up and down the stairs from our room to hotel restaurant for meals also. Both of us are mobile and we have no problems. But, for the old and invalid, it may be quite a struggle.Majority of the people staying there were Germans and we only met one English couple from UK. But, that is not a negative thing as Germans were very polite and friendly with our sign language communication. The proper entertainment was available three nights a week,The rest of the week was entertained by two people singing songs from various era. I went and ask for tours available in the Island. I am told that the tour information available were in Germans and the a girl from reception translated to me in her limited English. I decided not to take any tours in the end. It would be nice if there are English versions. On the whole, it was a very nice hotel for able adults. This hotel is an hour away from the airport. But, worth the long transfer as the beaches are beautiful with white sands, clear water and nice restaurants in old town. Visit Blue Merlin sea food restaurant in old town.Very Nice Sea Food there.

Room Tip: Higher Floors, Block D, full sea view.
