“Very dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Booked this holiday through Thomsons as i always do. It was in the brochure as a 5 star hotel but it fell far below my expectations of what i expected. The hotel and grounds were very clean and well maintained. However, the food was not great. You could not make a nice meal from the salad bar and the cooked meats that were served as the main courses were extremely tough and often inedible. The majority of the staff were very polite and helpfull but there were one or two members of staff that were very rude and unhelpful. The swimming pools were not designated to different activities like the brochure suggested. All of the pools and pool areas were full of kids, even the relaxing pool area. Only 1 external bar for entertainment, split into 2 areas and when it rained we were all crammed into the only suitable covered area for the evening which then meant not enough seating for the amount of guests. A very poor and dissapointing holiday.

Had a great week there. Service was good. Food selection and quality was great although avoid the Thai restaurant. The resort was clean. The facilities extensive. The beach was lovely. Basically a great holiday.

Room Tip: Book a sea view.

Fantastic activity resort, with an excellent resort run kids club. We very much enjoyed our two week stay at Club Magic Life. It is a 24 hour all inclusive resort for drinks and 22 hour all inclusive for food and snacks, which are of a very good quality. We particularly enjoyed the pizza and snack restaurant in the afternoons. The rooms are spacious and adequate and cleaned to a very high standard daily.
Our five year old daughter very much enjoyed the Magic Mungo kids club, and we felt very happy to leave her there whenever she wanted to go. Their sessions were between 09:30 and 20:30 six days a week, ending in the disco which she loved. Although the other children were not all English speaking, she made lots of new friends and all the staff spoke English to her and made sure she was included. The activities were fun, creative and educational.
I very much enjoyed the fitness and aqua aerobic classes which were of a very high standard. The instructors are extremely dedicated and obviously love their jobs.
My partner used the on site diving school several times, which he said was excellent. They were helpful and extremely hard working. Free try dives were available every day in the swimming pool.
The entertainment team were great, lots of fun and included everyone who wanted to be included, from their pool games every day to the evening dance shows where everyone got up to dance with them.
If you didn't want music with your sunbathing, or your evening, then there were quiet pools and the bar next to reception which was entertainment free most evenings. Drinks including cocktails were of a very good standard, and easily obtainable. There were several fridges of water, soft drinks wine and lager to help yourself to, as well as a punchbowl of sangria in the pool bar at lunch.
There were excellent tennis courts, mountain bike and road bike tours, nordic walking and spinning classes every day which we didn't take full advantage of, as well as a lovely on-site spa with reasonably priced treatments and hairdressers.
The Esquinzo beach the hotel sits on is absolutely beautiful and perfect for sunbathing or swimming with a gentle shelf so suitable for families. However, as with all the Canary Islands, it is a popular naturist beach.
We took a taxi to Morro del Jable beach which didn't appear to be a naturist beach and they have sunbeds and umbrellas for hire. It is also much better for snorkelling than Esquinzo. Taxis are approx 10euro each way but it is a nice for a day out with lovely restaurants overlooking the sea.
We took an excursion to the Oasis Park which was excellent. It is a very good zoo with an excellent selection of well looked after animals, all in the shade and with 4 shows included. The sealion show is a must!
In summary, this is a well run, extremely clean and fun hotel for active families.

My partner and I spent our second holiday at Club Magic Life at the end of September / beginning of October this year. For what we wanted (a relaxing holiday with access to decent sports facilities) this hotel ticked all the boxes.

As others have said, the hotel grounds are immaculate and rooms are clean and spacious. The service we received from all staff was second to none. Particular praise must go to the entertainment team, who all work incredibly hard.

The fitness classes are all taught at a professional level (so you will get a decent workout). However, if exercise isn't your thing, there are plenty of loungers away from it all.

We didn't try the à la carte restaurants but found the food in the main Magico buffet restaurant to be very good with plenty of choice, even for a vegetarian such as myself. I also like the fact that for the most part they list the ingredients in the different dishes.

Another real plus point for us about this hotel is that all inclusive means all inclusive. There are no extras to pay for such as safes in rooms, air-conditioning or bottles of water. If you wanted, you could eat and drink 24/7 - although it is not the sort of hotel that attracts a crowd that drinks to excess throughout the day.

Some of the reviews I have read complain that the hotel is not a five star hotel; the fact is, it is not trying to be a five star establishment. Its official rating is four star and I would say it is a solid four star at that. For the price paid, I thought the value for money was excellent.

We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: If you would like a quiet room, ask for rooms in block 19 or 20 (NB these rooms are next to the natu...

This is our 3rd visit to Magic Life (2 in Turkey) so are comfortable with the concept of quality with responsible and sustainable luxury. Imperial did not disappoint in any way. Very efficient and welcoming reception staff, with trouble free check in. Allocation to Block 15 overlooking the main pool with a sea view was very good, well equiped and clean and spacious. Free safety deposit box and fridge with water on the 1st night, access to free replacements from bars. TV poor with only sky news available. Daily maid service and obtained an additional pillow on request with no fuss. The grounds were very well maintained with staff tending most days. Bars - very efficient with a wide choice of cocktails, spirits, coffee, wine and beer self service if desired in most areas. Very relaxing and generally quiet with the Plaza Bar being the livliest. Did not attend any evening entertainment as the bars were livley enough for us after a hard day sunbathing. Food - was excellent with an amazing choice at every sitting. We did try the steak house but found like others this did not outshine the main buffet. Pool bar was handy for casual snacks and lunch through the day. Pools - all good and children friendly, there were a small number of children while we were there but not noisy at all. Magic Radio plays all day at the main pool along with the Entertainment Team. Staff - mostly german (but english speaking) and young...... but very professional and friendly without being pushy. Bar staff were local spanish and again very very efficient and friendly. Beach - I agree with others here long sandy with blue sea but beware the nudists in this public area. We walked to Jandia both on the road and beach (approx 30 min) which has a very long seafront promenade to local harbour/bars. Activities - hotel chosen because of the variety of these, quiet choice like archery and boules and more energetic like spinning and gym - everyone is catered for. The level of tuition and enthusiasm was very high. An excellent road and mountain bike programme with daily organised rides out for experienced and fit riders - take your gear if this is you. Hotel had a good mix of ages and nationalities, very few teenagers or single sex groups. Everyone was having a good time. Will be booking for same time 2013.

Room Tip: If possible take your own towel the one's provided are a bit mean

We travelled in July and upgraded on day 1 it was well worth it €45 per person per night but you get such luxury. An a la carte restaurant a free bar with branded drinks - just help yourself. The panoramic and whirlpools are beautiful tranquil and so peaceful - we travelled with our older teenage daughters who loved the peace of the lovely pools and wandered to the main hotel for some nightlife. We booked this hotel for the sports and we were not disappointed - I did 10 spinning classes but still gained 6lb!! I believe Thomson will be taking private lodge bookings from this winter - we enquired directly through the hotel website.

Well, my husband and I have just returned from a week of relaxation at Club Magic Life, Fuerteventura Imperial. I must admit I had been apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but quite honestly my fears were unfounded.
The staff couldn't do enough for us, right from checking in, we were late in the evening and we were swiftly checked in directed to our room, which was fantastic, and down enjoying a late night meal behind the Plaza Bar in the Italian restuarant opened especially for late arrivals.
The all inclusive, is exactly what I would expect it to be. Lots of food, all varieties, laid out to help yourself to. Also, bottles of wine on every table in the restaurant every evening and if it wasn't the type you wanted you just swapped it for a bottle you did. The beer, Tropical, was very good and on tap too.
The breakfasts available were anything you could think of - it was there! Cold meat, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, full english, museli - 2 varieties - porridge, salad (!) I could go on. We didn't struggle to find something we wanted.
Picnic boxes are also available from reception so you can fill a box for your lunch if you are going out or spending the day on the beach.
The staff were very friendly and spoke Spanish, German, English or a mixture of all 3, I think they liked you to try but could understand what you were on about more or less!
The maid tending to our room was great and we always returned to a very clean fresh room.
We were upgraded from a twin room to a queen room - which was enormous with a wonderful balcony - we were on the 3rd flr with great views, not overlooking the sea but you could still see it from our balcony.
We asked for another pillow since I couldn't get comfortable to sleep at night, when we returned after a day at the beach we had another 3 pillows, perfect :)
The facilities are very good, I indulged my passion for fitness on a couple of occasions, I did the spinning, which is a bit hardcore at 9:30 in the morning in full sun, but there are later ones available. We also used the gym, the equipment is a little sparcer than I am used to but there was a treadmill which was what I was after. The weight machines are a bit different so be prepared to improvise. There are also aerobics, step and dance sessions throughout the day, the instructors are very good.
The beach is fantastic - the steps down are on the steep side but if taken slowly in bare feet, it's fine - there is a less steep one further along the beach (just past the Private Lodge) a nice walk and easier in the calves.
We didn't venture out very far since our aim was to relax and enjoy the beach and everything on tap, so the hotel ticked all our boxes and we are already planning to return.
Something else we were impressed about was the assistant director at the hotel wasn't hidden away in an office, he was out on reception, serving in the restuarants, whizzing around on the onsite buggies with the service staff - we were very impressed.
There was a real sense of professionalism amongst all the staff.
As you can tell, we loved it - no complaints here and would recommend it to anyone wanting relaxation, fun, good food and plenty of happy memories!

Room Tip: Block 10 is a good location for everything, not noisy either.
