We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Santa Ponsa, We planned this holiday to sunbath on the beach in the mornings, relax by the pool in the afternoons, then have a few drinks and some Karaoke in the evening.
Two out of three ain't bad ~ We went on the beach every day, it was beautiful ~ we loved it. We relaxed by the pool every afternoon, we loved that too. Then when we went out on our first evening there we found that apart from a couple of Irish bars and "The Square" ( ok for families with small children) there was NO entertainment that started before about midnight, and most Karaokes didn't get going til 3am. We were so disappointed. We can late drink like the rest but when you go out at 8 to find entertainment it's a very long time to wait until midnight for it!!!!
BUT ~ On the last night of our holiday we went for a final walk round, we walked through all the Irish bars like we had done all week, but carried on walking and we reached a little tiny bar called 'Leapy's Bar' it had Karaoke that started at about 9.30. We had a fantastic night there and met some really lovely people too, it's owned by the little arrows singer Leapy Lee, he sang some of the old songs and sat with all of us all evening. We had been very dissappointed all week with the entertainment side of our holiday but at least our last night there was brilliant ~ AND we're sure the next visit to Santa Ponsa will now be Three out of Three.

I have just returned from 10 days in Santa ponca. I am not a big fan of beach resorts and like most this place did not leave me in shock and awe. To be fair though it was a good location to go for a quieter low key holiday. Beach is nice and clean although it is dissected by what I assume to be a storm drain outlet which I avoided.... plenty of soft sand to relax on and a fair few loungers if you want one.
The main beach front is lined with plenty of tat shops and bars with three on the beach its self. nice but a bit more expensive for the privilege.
If your facing the sea then to your left is a roundabout and down there are the nicer bars and restaurants a couple of note were Little Vienna on the roundabout and Crocadillos to your right. The latter being more expensive but you can see the difference. Steaks chicken and ribs are all recommended. Cost us about 45 Euros for 3 courses and a bottle of wine.
To the right of the beach is a small hill and there is the main strip of bars and restaurants, prices reflect quality although Mrs Murphy's was very nice and did also get a second visit.
It wasn't peak season so it was quiet most of the time but I expect there is more atmosphere up this end.
Big disappointment is the prices... with the euro being nearly 1 for 1 everything was expensive. large beer / shandy £3, chicken baguette £4-5 basic evening meal for 2 £30 before drinks. Good evening meal £50. tat was a ridicules rip off.....

If you can, hire a car and get out and explore. The island can be crossed in one hour and there are some truly exceptional gems to visit if you break out from the traditional beach resorts.
The whole north of the island is mountains and well worth a visit or 3.

Finally my purpose on this holiday was to complete a Padi diving course and the company I went with definatly deserve a mention for outstanding quality of service and professionalism. Zoea diving 5 mins from the strip in the marina centre were fantastic, They delivered the course seamlessly, accommodated our timetable and made the 4 days great fun.

We went to Santa Ponsa at the end of August for 10 days on a last minute self catering break. The area is very popular with irish tourists and a lot of the bars and restaurants reflect this. On the whole, the bars and eateries were good value for money, considering the struggling pound and always very friendly. There were plenty of families around but in our hotel, we found ourselves next door to a bunch of rowdy irish lads who seemed determined to drink the resort dry and do it as loudly as possible! That said, when we got talking to them over the balcony, they turned out to be a lovely bunch of guys and everyone we met was nice and just out for a good time. I would recommend the resort for all ages, The beach was lovely and clean with lots of bars and restaurants overlooking the bay. Main advantage for me was its close proximity to the airport (about 30 mins) and its close promximity to the capital, Palma. The city of Palma is absolutely stunning and one day wasn't really enough so I need to go again. The labyrinth of streets, fabulous shops (they've even got a branch of C&A!!), the cathedral and many other beautiful sights made the holiday a bit more special. Plenty of days out and waterparks make it a good choice if you've for tourists of any age. My main negative was that some parts of the resort were not as clean as they could be.

We had a great time at the resort having stayed there for a week 16th August 2008. I have'nt been to Majorca for about 8 years preferring Turkey, however i was impressed with both the hotel we stayed in (Hotel Rey Don Jaime) and the resort. It has a lovely beach with good clear water and has a lovely park just off the beach that has an abundance of the green Majorcan parrots flying all around and offering good shade. we found the locals to be very courteous and polite and offering good service. I would definitely recommend going here for all age groups. There are plenty of bus services that get you around the island cheaply and you are close to Palma and Magalluf for days/nights out. There are some parts in Santa Ponsa i would avoid such as the Irish bar street which is very lively but suitable for people looking to party all night.

This place was terrible. It was full of horrible people running around in celtic jerseys. I went in to one pub down there which shall remain nameless and there was nothing but rebel music all night with a horrible casio keyboard type beat the whole night long. Kids in pubs till 2am, young people unable to drink, getting sick in alleyways and falling all over the place. I'm not boring, but at the same time, I wouldn't be going back in a hurry and wouldn't recommend it to anyone
