“Great views, great food and perfect for sun bathing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

We have just come back from staying at Club Santa Ponsa and over all the holiday was great! The food was really nice but did get a bit repetitive towards the end of the week. The restaurant is also very quick to close dead on time so keep an eye on the timings of the food. The rooms are basic and we had one without a view but we spent little time in it so it didn't make a huge diffence.
The pool area is a perfect spot for sunbathing as you are on top of a hill so it's a sun trap but you may struggle to get sun loungers useless you put your towel down first thing. There is another pool which we did find sun loungers and perrfect if you want to fall asleep in the sun as it's so quiet.
The hotel is located on top of a hill so if you don't like walking I wouldn't recommend it. We walked up and down the hill everyday and the centre and beach are a 15min walk where you will find lots to do. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. On our last day we didn't get picked up until 7pm but the hotel took our bans from us as soon as we checked out if your departure time is later i would say something to the hotel about this as we feel we were cheated out of the last day all inclusive offer. Its a beautiful place to go on holiday and think it suits most ages I wouldn't go back but I never go to the same place twice.

As per previous reviews we arrived at 7pm to be told the hotel was overbooked and we had to be moved to another hotel. (Despite booking 7 months previously!)

After travelling all day with a 3 year old this is not what you want to hear and in our view the alternative hotel was unacceptable, as all 3 of us were in one standard bedroom rather than the apartment we had booked.

Ok it was only one night and we got a free day trip out as compensation, but it got the holiday off to a very bad start!

Once at Club Santa Ponsa we had a great 2 week holiday :-

Pro's - beautiful views, eating all meals outside, large apartment with massive terrace, excellent maid service, friendly waiters/waitresses

Cons - Queues at the bar even for soft drinks, some unfriendly staff. Also, most guests were Belgian, French and Dutch, which meant the entertainment was geared towards them and our son found it difficult to make friends.

Overall I liked the hotel and would book again if they sorted out the booking problems.

Room Tip: 607 was excellent - on a level with reception and the bar, very spacious and handy for car parking.

Just back from a week at Club Santa Ponsa with my partner & 2 year old daughter and really enjoyed our stay, however, would i go back...NO!!!
GOOD POINTS: Pool was great, especially for the kids.
Huge choice of food for breakfast, lunch & dinner(although the food wasn't great it was OK). Rooms were very clean & of a good size, we also had a large veranda with 2 sun loungers & a table with 4 chairs.
Views of Santa Ponsa are spectacular.
Plenty of choice for drinks, soft & alcoholic.
There's an hourly 7 seat minibus that will take you down to the beach. I'd recommend a taxi back up though which is about 4Euros.
BAD POINTS: NO Air Conditioning!!! This was a huge downside, although there were 2 fans it was like a sauna at night & we didn't get a decent nights sleep as a result.
The Sun Loungers were all taken by 9am, ended up at the beach on 2 days because we couldn't get loungers.
The bar staff were very slow & deliberately took forever to serve drink & seemed more concerned with filling ice buckets & clearing tables, aso their manners left alot to be considered.
The location is at the top of a hill so be warned that its a long steep walk back up the hill.

Overall, we really enjoyed our holiday in Santa Ponsa & i'd have given Club Santa Ponsa 3.5/5 if i could have.

We stayed in aug/sep 2011 and found it very average. Location poor, food ok but nothing ells. Found that most guests were German or Russian. To be honest there are better hotels in Santa ponsa for the same money with better entertainment and better located.

Spent 5 nights here at the start of August as a couple and enjoyed our time there. Yes the hotel is at the top of the hill but the flip side of this is it offers beautiful views over the bay and the beach below. We were situated at the bottom of the complex which meant 63 steps up to the pool, and a further 24 steps to the restaurant so it was good exercise every day. The good thing about this was it was quiet down there and we could leave the doors open to cool the apartment.

There is free wifi in the bar/terrace area of the hotel and although on holiday, it seems to be increasingly popular that people on holiday need to keep in touch with the outside world. Just a quick look around at everyone on iPhones and iPads confirms this.

The food was perfectly adequate for all meals, although the snacks were rather bland and dry. The pizza which was offered one day was really nice though but they never brought out any more fresh once it was done.

The bad bits - The bar staff are very laid back and unless you are female, will not drop what they are doing to serve you. You just have to wait! A queue of over 15 can be there whilst he refills the half full ice cream freezer, tidies the bar or other important jobs(!). The spirits are strong and after a while, get rather sickly and off putting. Perhaps this is their ploy.

The animation in the evenings was entertaining although not at a high level. It was amateurish at best although they work hard.

The swimming pools were good and the adult pool allowed relative peace from the very young kids although it was still used by slightly older ones. On one day, there was a toilet incident in the main pool from a child and that put us off using it again during our stay.

There is no air con in the rooms so they become very hot and unfortunately we didnt get a decent nights sleep whilst there. I did not realise that air con units could be hired (the fans did very little although their wiring to the wall was rather dubious)

Overall the hotel was a good break away and although apart from the view, nothing special, I do not regret booking here and would recommend it to other travelers.

I'm going to keep this pretty basic, as some on here are like essays!!

ROOMS- We were given one right next to the bar and complained as it was horrendous in so many ways! The next day we were moved to a better located apartment. Rooms are clean, spacious, but in August, with NO air con they are far too hot!!

FOOD- Pretty average for an All Inc, fair amount of choice, cooked breakfast could've been better. Themed nights. Restaurant is Air conditioned...thank god!

DRINKS- Pretty average again, lots of choice, queues got a bit long at night, only self serve is water, tea, coffee and fruit juices. Other than that you have to wait in line.

STAFF/ENTERTAINMENT- Some of the staff were quite rude and not very sociable, although I realise they are mega busy at this time of the year, but a smile and manners cost nothing! They need more waiters, as plates pile up on your table and you can wait a while before they are removed. Entertainment was a let down compared to previous hotels we have stayed in, the daytime timetable was never right, the staff did as they pleased, which was a let down for my eldest son, who loves to be doing something most of the time. The night time? Forget it! Go down to the Square where all the bars are, much better!

Room Tip: AVOID number 10 at all costs!!! It's right next to the bar, people sit on your balcony at night...

Just returned from a week in this hotel. On holiday with my partner and our two boys age 6 and 8.
The views from the hotel are beautiful and its set in quite location about 10min walk to town . The hotel is a top of a hill so need to be reasonably fit to walk to town .In saying that we walked it most days and was no problem even for boys. There is a free mini-bus from hotel every hour to the town center .
The hotel was spotless and the rooms are also spotless. The rooms are basic but are ideal . They are very warm at night so be prepared.
Food at the hotel was first class . There is plenty of choice and you would need to be fussy to not find something to eat. There is snacks between 12-4 everyday which was great for the kids and also free ice-cream all the time.
Drinks were fine beer was ok and plenty of choice of spirits and soft drinks and there was slush puppies for kids as well.
The swimming pool was great as well but need to watch the kids as pool gets deep quickly and there is no lifeguard. You will need to be up early to get sunbed thou after 8.30 forget it.
Great for kids as there are mini-clubs on during the day and our boys thought it was great and also mini-disco at night.
Entertainment is nothing great but have seen worse and there is plenty of bars close bye if you want something better to listen to.
Overall would say hotel was great for families with kids my boys had a ball . Would probs be to quiet for teenagers wanting to party as mostly families and bar closes at midnight.
