“Family Holiday 18th - 25th September”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We arrived at the hotel unsure what to expect with it being a three star hotel. The quick check in was good and the reception area was very nice. The lifts going to the different floors were tiny and we had a wheelchair. They had a separate lift for that but it was still very small. The rooms were spotlessly clean but did need a revamp.

The meals very absolutely fine and you would always find something you liked. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful. They had some outside snacks but they werent covered and they were quite a lot of flies about. We were all inclusive and the drinks were okay and you could also get the choice of several cocktails. Tea, coffee and water was also available all day and you just help yourself.

The pool area was nice and you could easily get a sun bed but this was probably due to the fact the schools were back and there wasnt a lot of children about.

The entertainment team were very good and worked very hard (Max and Tom) and they got to know people without being too pushy for you to join in their games. They have various activities on at certain times of the day and its a good way of getting to meet other holidaymakers. At night there was a short quiz then bingo and after that the nightly show. We had no complaints about anything and we never actually left the hotel at night. Entertainment finished about half eleven but it would be good if they would play some disco music until about twelve. The all inclusive bar shuts at twelve.

We had a great week at the hotel and met lovely friendly people. Its ones of the friendliest hotels we have been at and we would go back to this hotel due to its location, friendliness and the entertainments team but i would probably avoid at the height of summer as it would be so busy.

Went to this hotel a few years ago with family went this time as a couple.
the hotel and staff were very good, the only downside was at this time of
year most of the guests are older(we are also) but with no young ones and
everything geared at older people it makes you feel worse.would not recommend
families to go at this time of year.
please ignore other peoples comments about the rooms being dated as ours
looked as though it had recently been refurbished.
The food choice was very good with the chef carving a different joint everynight.
The only downside is the bacon at breakfast(always over cooked)apart from that
there was a good selection. You did have to pay 10euros deposit for the remote
for television but you got it back when leaving.
we stayed half board as we go out all day,so cannot comment on drinks etc.
would probably go back in few years as Santa Ponsa is a nice place.
But would go at different time of year.

Room Tip: rooms at back seem good.

Me (23) and my fiancé (26) stayed at the Rey Don Jaime at the end of August for 1 week all inclusive. It was only a 20 minute transfer from the airport as there was only our hotel and 1 other from Santa Ponsa on the bus and we were the first drop off! On arrival there was quite a long queue for reception however the staff were very efficient and the queue went down quickly.
Location: The hotel is in a great location about 200m from the big white sandy beach. There are sun loungers and parasols available to hire there for €4.50 each. The resort itself is lovely with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. There is the Irish strip for younger ones who want to go out partying and regular buses to Magaluf. There are also family bars and restaurants and some good pubs.
Room: Our room was on the 3rd floor (there are 4 lifts available) and down a very long corridor! The room itself was simple and clean if a little old fashioned but was fine for what we wanted. The view from the balcony was of nearby streets and the mountains in the distance. None of the rooms have a fantastic view because of the location of the hotel so if that is what you're looking for from a hotel then this one probably isnt for you. The room was cleaned every day and fresh linen/towels provided is required.
Food: The food was the best i have ever had from an all inclusive hotel (previously stayed in 3, 4 and 5 star hotels). There was always a massive selection including different carved meats with all the trimmings, pasta dishes including meatballs and spaghetti bolognese, curry, paella (which was amazing and i definitely recommend!), fresh salad and bread rolls. For the kids there was chips, burgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs etc if they don't like the other food. There was also always a massive selection of desserts including a variety of cakes, mouse, ice cream, yoghurt, profitterols and chocolate sauce, jelly, triffle, the list could go on and on!
Drinks: I would definitely recommend going all inclusive if just for the drinks. I lived on slush puppies throughout the days as they were so refreshing in the heat! Im reliably informed from my fiancé that the beer was good!
Entertainment: The entertainment was fantastic! Each night there was a kids disco which lasted about 20 minutes starting at half 8. Then there was bingo and a quiz each night with a different theme! We even won the bingo and won €226!! After the bingo there was a different act each night ranging from tribute acts to snake shows. The entertainment team did a comedy sketch show one night which was absolutely amazing and had us laughing the whole way through! There was also a hypnotist show which was one of the highlights of our holiday as it was so funny! Max and the team do a fantastic job of keeping everyone entertained!
Swimming pool: The pool area was lovely with the outside bar and seating area. The only thing we were a bit disappointed in was the pool as it wasnt as big as it looks in the pictures. We always managed to get a sun lounger however it was more difficult after about 10am. I have to agree with other reviews about the parasol situation. There definately isnt enough to go around and you really do need one when it is blazing hot! People would start queing at 8am for when they opened the pool area at 8.30am. They would then reserve their parasol and sun lounger and go off for breakfast which was a bit annoying!
Trips: We went on 3 trips. We went to Palma and Valldemosa on one trip. Palma is lovely and i would definitely recommend you visit even if you just go on the bus. Valldemosa was also lovely, a village nestled in the mountains with plenty there to see and do! We also went to Pollensa in the North and looked around the market! I would again definitely recommend this, it was a lovely day out. Our final trip was a 2 hour boat trip. It was ok but you didnt really see much apart from a few fish and a couple of coves! You could swim in the sea if you wanted. I did feel quite sea sick as it was very choppy so maybe this has tainted my view of it a little!
Overall this was a fantastic holiday and we would definately recommend it to people of all ages!

Recently back from a great holiday at the Rey Don Jaime, food was good, fantastic selection, even Juan's paella and sangria demonstration added to the variety, much to our amusement. The staff are the friendliest we have encountered, nothing is too much trouble, from receptions helpfulness to the bar staff and their cheery personalities to the cleaning staff who were perfect, all made our stay here very enjoyable. Not forgetting to mention the animation team, who made a good holiday great!! Max and his crew kept us entertained none stop from 11am to 11pm. Shakey shakey Max you are brill. With just a few tweeks here and there, this could easily become a 4 star accomodation. The only downer for the rooms, is that there is not enough storage space for clothes, not too important to grumble about though.

Room Tip: Find out when the Hooley in The Sun is on, usually end of Sept, can become very noisy if over the re...

Just back from this hotel with my boyfriend and my mum and dad. My parents and partner have all been to this hotel many times over the past years and stated that it was a really good hotel. Unfortunately, they have since changed their opinion (and I). When we got to our rooms, we went out to the balcony and couldn't see a thing as there was a massive tree right in front of us. They changed our rooms with no problem at all. The bedroom was just okay (bit dated), but there was no drawers and very little wardrobe space, so some of our clothes had to stay in our cases, the bathroom has no place to hang the hand towels !!!! My parents shower was broke and they had to hold the shower over them to wash, they got it fixed the next day. This might seem trivial, but for the money we paid we expected much better. The food was always cold, dried up and not great choices. The carvery chef actually shouted at my partner because he asked for a breast of chicken instead of a leg !!!! The pool area was fine although you have to be down very early to get a bed. We just felt that the staff were not that happy or helpful. We have stayed in many hotels in majorca, this was the worst for me. Overall we were greatly disappointed and will not return. My parents said that it has certainly gone " down hill" since they were last there.

first impressions of the hotel where very good, the reception area is impressive! We arrived very early in the morning and where pleasantly surprised that they had prepared some food for us after our travels. The hotel room was very outdated, but exceptionally clean. The air con is rubbish, very noisy and doesn't seem to make much difference to the room temp so we had the balcony doors open most of the time but you do get a lot of noise from the clubs/bars wich are very close, however by law they shut their front doors at 12 midnight so you don't hear much after that. Wifi is available for the price of 20 euros for a week.
most Staff where not very friendly and spoke little english, the friendliest staff was definitley the cleaners, who do an amazing job, the whole hotel was spotless! The all inclusive was not worth the money for us. We are self-confessing fussy eaters but there was virtually nothing we could eat, and nothing vegetarian apart from salad, most food was not even labelled so it was a guessing game, and what was actually labelled appeared to be incorrect! there was a wide selection of the drinks avaliable in the all inclusive, the cocktails are LETHAL ! If you want to sunbathe by the pool I do recommend getting down there fairly early as space is limited. The pool is freezing however the beach is 2-3 mins walk away and the sea is warmer than the pool.
the walls are very thin and so you can hear virtually everything going on in the 2 rooms either side of you. The beds really ruined the whole hotel experience for me, they where so uncomfortable and i wasn't able to get a good nights sleep at all while i was there, therefore spent my holiday tired and achy. The entertainment was O.K, not suitable for my age group really, it was more the older persons. All in all the hotel was O.K. for what we paid we do feel a little down hearted about the whole experience, I wouldn't stay there again unless the beds where changed because that ruined it for me.

Room Tip: pool facing hotel room is not recommended as the nightly entertainment is held out there and does no...

Had a 11 night stay at Hotel Rey Dom Jamie from 9th Sept- 20th Sept.
Hotel staff- Friendly, welcoming, nothing to much trouble. FANTASTIC Food great choice, chef there every night carving fresh meat, salad fresh & crisp. Entertainment brilliant (max u made us laugh) bingo bongo lol. Will definite recommend this Hotel & would go back. The only thing that can be annoying is the old folks moaning about the food there was nothing wrong with the food at all & we call the germans for the sunbeds the brits are worse, people put their towels on the sunbeds ALL DAY and don't even use them !!!!

Thank you for a brilliant holiday :O)
