“We stayed for a week in September”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Just home having spent a week at Sentido Punta del Mar. We had so many problems I am putting some in black and white:
ROOM
The room looked tidy but on further inspection, infact it was when my wife dropped an earring behind the bed that the hairy dustballs became visible, yuk! I know it's hard to keep everywhere spotless but this really creeped us out. Maybe it's because it's near the end of the season and things slip a little, who knows.
There was a weird smell in the bathroom that seemed to come up from the shower, I stuffed it with tissue at night and removed it every morning, seemed to help at night at least.
POOL
The pool area is nice but the way it's policed by a strange woman is way over the top, and something you don't expect at this kind of hotel.
STAFF
The staff were friendly but did seem to be a bit lack lustre, again I wonder if it's the time of year.
EXPENSE
The hotel let us down in many ways, at the fore front is of course the overall cost, which was not a low one. Would look for somewhere else if had to travel here again.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking your time to share your opinion about Sentido Punta del Mar.

We are sorry that you did not get what you expected during your stay with us.

In reference to the issues that you had, I would like to clirify some points. Regarding to the cleanliness, we apologize for this incident and we would like to inform you that we have already reported to the housekeeping department to make sure that this does not happen again. Rooms are cleaned every day, but if it happen, we recommend to inform at reception to speak with the right person in that momento and solve it straight away.

The smell in the bathroom is not usual, but if you report it to us, we will give a solution as quick as possible.

We have a sun beds policy, which says that it is not allowed to reserve them for more than 30 minutes and the lifeguard is taking care of it every day from 8.00 am from the swimming pool area.

Thank you again for all your comments, which help us to improve every day.

Kind regards

We have recently come back from a 2 week all inclusive stay at this hotel and can honestly say that we feel we have had a nice refreshing break.
We arrived there late following a mixup at the airport with our transfer but as soon as we saw the view from the lobby and spoke to the very friendly reception staff, this was quickly forgotten. We had previously asked for and were given a room on the 7th floor with equally stunning views over the bay. We had to pay deposits for the towels, changed 3 times a week, and for the safe with an extra E3 per day non refundable. If you are on a tight budget for spending money, bear this in mind.
The room was fine and we managed perfectly well with the amount of storage space for non-hanging clothes. We felt the bathroom could have done with another shelf of some description for the washbag, but this is a minor issue. Plenty of hot water for showers although we had a couple of evenings when the temperature went up and down a bit between hot and cold. It was kept clean although the bathroom floor was a bit suspect at times.
We enjoyed the food in the buffet restaurant and had a lovely meal in the a la carte, served by David who did an excellent job. Gentleman, a reminder, you have to wear long trousers in the dining room but, as my husband did, you can change back into shorts afterwards. The choice of all inclusive drinks was fine and our thanks go to all the bar and restaurant staff who work very hard but still smile and are very friendly. Special thanks at this point to the waiter David who soon remembered my husband's Bell's whisky and lemonade, no ice.
We enjoyed most of the entertainment, apart from one show, The Greatest Duets. This was awful and we weren't the only guests who left the room before the end of the show. Sam and Adam are lovely, very enthusiastic but don't put any pressure on if you don't want to join in their organised activities. (Beware Mr & Mrs!) There is also free evening entertainment in the square about 5-10 mins walk away if you would prefer. If you like a quieter drink, the Blue Bar is the place to go but take some money as they serve very few all inclusive drinks.
The pool area was nice and we found some comfortable beds in the quiet area but they did go very quickly in the mornings. The half hour sunbed policy seems a bit harsh beforehand but works well in practice. The main area was kept clean but we did find some bits around the edges from time to time.
It is about a 20 min walk into the main resort of Santa Ponsa, but they really only have more tourist shops plus drinking and eating places. You would need to get a bus from there into Palma if you wanted the bigger shops.
For Thomas Cook guests, Rita is very approachable and helpful. She took our airport problem very seriously and is pursuing the matter for us. I was very surprised when I read earlier reviews to see people moaning about her. She has several hotels to look after but can always be reached by phone when she is not at the hotel if there are any problems.
If you have any special requests, contact the hotel beforehand. I did this for our room and to book the a la carte restaurant on my husband's birthday. They very kindly gave him a complimentary birthday cake in the restaurant as well as leaving us a bottle of bubbly with glasses in our room. Likewise, if you have any problems whilst there, speak to them at the time, don't come back and moan about it on here. We found our mattresses very hard the first night and we both wanted an extra pillow. We spoke to the reception in the morning and by the time we got back to the room after being outside, they had changed our mattresses over and delivered another pillow each.

Room Tip: We had room 720. Even though it is near the road, it is very quiet and with a beautiful view over th...

We stayed at this hotel 9-16 September 2013 on an AI basis with Thomas Cook. We were in a Junior Suite on floor 7. Very nice and well worth the extra if you can manage it, for all the reasons already mentioned in the reviews. Watch out for the 'wet room' effect of the shower or else it really is! The Air Con is fine by the way, towels need replacing as they are a bit thin and grey.
This is a top end "tourist class hotel" in our view. If you want luxury then go somewhere more appropriate but it is not fair to moan about this hotel because you did not get Molton Brown soaps etc etc.
The hotel is in a quiet and quality residential area which suited us, and a nice walk of about 20min to the somewhat tacky centre and beach if you wanted it. We did not, as the views and facilities at the hotel were good, especially on your own terrace with loungers and magnificent sea views.
The hotel is built on the headland with the entrance lobby on floor 6, and it seemed to us that the lower down you went in the hotel, the feel of the place got less good. Beautiful lobby, spotless, Blue Bar (5) very nice, restaurant (4) including a la carte, excellent and we think the dress code policy is the right thing to do in all hotels - period. If you want to dine in kiss me quick hats and union jack shorts go somewhere else or self cater.
The TV lounge and shop (2) has been taken over by a cycling club so did not find anything interesting there.
All day bar (1) is a bit basic but the service and staff were great and the snack food was good. This also where quite a bit of the entertainment happened. We thought the two male hosts could have been more creative. Bingo and a quiz is a little - you know! We also thought they should have a thought for 'non English' guests too, and greet and include them in their own language. We thought they should bring in outside artists to vary the entertainment programme and make it more interesting. Walking tours or talks from people who know Majorca, shooting etc etc. There is a pressure on outside space around the pool so the policing of the sunbeds is a fair way to manage the situation. Perhaps the hotel should consider extending the terrace over the rocks on a platform.

All in all we enjoyed our holiday and would like to thank the manager and his staff. Our thoughts and review seek only to give 'our' opinion and offer some suggestions to make the hotel even better.

Room Tip: Junior Suite 6th or 7th floor

A lovely hotel with spectacular views and very friendly, helpful staff. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the food was wonderful. We booked this holiday as a quiet relaxing break to chill out and do not a lot! It certainly ticked all those boxes. We were away for my birthday and I was pleasantly surprised when a bottle of bubbly was delivered to our room with a letter from the management wishing me a happy birthday! The room was spacious, light and airy. The beds were two singles pushed together and made up separately, not so romantic as they kept sliding apart on the wooden floor. There was a fridge but nothing in it. We were on the all-inclusive package and felt it would have been a nice touch to provide bottled water in the room and/or tea/coffee making facilities since, as far as we were aware, you could not get a drink until breakfast which didn't start until 8am. Fab pool area especially if you managed to get one of the lovely double sun beds, policed very well by the staff to try and prevent people reserving then leaving them. Our rep, Rita was brilliant, very knowledgable and enthusiastic about the island and all that it had to offer. Entertainment was just right, not too in-your-face and very light-hearted. The Blue Bar was a beautiful setting to chill and watch the sun set. We didn't use the spa but it looked amazing. Unfortunately it wasn't open in the evenings, when we might have used it, it was too nice during the day to be inside! We had a wonderful holiday and would not hesitate in recommending both the hotel and the resort.

Walking into reception at floor 6 you are greeted by stunning views across the Med, hotel has an enviable location that lifts your spirits after your journey.
We had a suite on floor 6, very nice, spacious and modern, not much of a balcony, there was 2 of them, simple table and 2 chairs on one, the other, a single sun lounger which would only fit width wise across due to insufficient depth, not much use as the sun never cast it's warm rays across the narrow space, probably better to have some comfortable lounger chairs with cushions so you sit and relax enjoying the beautiful views.
Balconies below did enjoy the sun more as their depth was greater and sun loungers where positioned at end of balcony thus gaining the benefit of suns rays.
Blue bar excellent, great to sit and relax with a pre-dinner cocktail etc. can't quite get my head around not being able to have spirits in this bar on all inclusive! But the sangria and cocktails where more than fine.
Restaurant had adequate choice and food of a good standard, first time back in "Euro land" all inclusive for some time, noticed some things that we took for granted in Caribbean, Turkish, Egyptian hotels that where not evident here, no waiter service to get you drinks, you where shown your table and left to get on with it, drinks limited to wine, beer, soft drinks from pumps etc, but again didn't detract from the experience, just a personal observation.
We did use the Al a carte which was very nice indeed, with good waiter service.
Pool busy and crowded, but that's the price you pay for limited space on a headland with views, always managed to get a sunbed and enjoyed the sun.
All in all a very nice hotel, but dare I say it? great having no children around, especially in high season.
