“The lunches were great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stayed in this hotel in the last week of October. We chose to go all inclusive and were not disappointed. The best part of the holiday for us was the lunches. We were able to chose from the menu and the food was preparedand cooked individually for us. Sometimes the portion sizes were very generous, I began to love the smoked salmon starter and the sea bass main or the salmon main course. We found the waiters were very friendly and attentive, the opposite of the previous review.
I think it is very difficult for the hotels to cater for so many people. The breakfasts offered great choice, I particularly enjoyed the variety of fresh fruits on offer, and the pancakes. Always fresh bread available. Dinner again offered great variety, but somehow we struggled to enjoy this meal, probably due to our large lunches!!! Some roasted meats would be nice, turkey, chicken, sliced off the bone would have been great.
In general, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Beds slightly harder than ideal, all inclusive mini bar a nice treat. We would have enjoyed tea and coffee making facilities and we did take our own.
My Husband wanted to buy some internet access and we had some difficulty with the young female receptionist, she was not very helpful. I also had trouble with her when returning my two poolside towels as she expected me to have my deposit receipt (which had not been explained).

We enjoyed the local area, we walked to the bus stop and took a trip to the nearby market on the Wednesday and also took a bus ride to Palma. Very enjoyable, lovely location. Yes, I think we may return to this hotel.

Room Tip: I believe we were to have a Junior Suite and were then told we had been upgraded. I believe all roo...

In the calmness of Costa de la Calma lies this Spa & Resort. Surrounded by coastline with mostly cliffs, but the view is great. A 30-40 min cab fare from the airport and you’re there.

The welcome puts you in luxury and holyday mode instantly, with excellent personal service, accompanied by a glass of bubbles. Great!

For given reasons, my wife and I had one of the honeymoon suites on the 1st floor. Actually just above the pool- and bar area, which turned out not to be a problem at all, since there are no kids or youngsters in this hotel, and we barely heard a sound. This was one of the most quiet hotels we have stayed on, which suited us very well.

The honeymoon suite was lovely. Spacious, impeccably clean, big terrace with a twin sun bed with thick madras, big flat screen in the living room, mini bar and last but not least, a Jacuzzi just in between the bathroom and the living room.

Nice, big pool area with plenty of sun beds. The only thing I found to complain about was the seagulls. They were in the pool, on the sun beds, in the pool bar and so on. But according to the barman there was not much to do about it.

The Food (we went half board, saw no reason to go all in)

The breakfast: Lovely. A great selection of yoghurts, fresh made smoothies and a lot of healthy stuff. And then off course eggs & bacon, a chef made omelets of you choice (super!) and quite often they would serve small glasses of Cava to give you a head start on the day. Nice touch!

Lunch = the pool bar…. and they stopped serving food at 15:00 (3 pm). Mostly pizza, pasta, toasts etc. Not great at all, and in contrast to the breakfast and dinner.

Dinner: Very nice, but lacked that little extra to get full score from me. Buffet style, lots of choices, but none that really stood out. Off course you’d find chips for the British ; )
One day they even had lobster, but being a Norwegian, I know that lobster could and should taste a lot more than this. Virtually tasteless. Too bad, but I give them credit for nice try.

Good selection of cheese and various deserts, small cakes +++. Actually the desert dep. was close to getting full score.

The service in the restaurant was first class, even though it could be quite crowded at times, with a bit of waiting. Friendly, smiling waiters saw to it that you survived and got a table with a new clean shining tablecloth.

The only place were the service could improve was some of the staff working the reception in the later hours. They could learn from the daytime staff about friendly, professional service.

I also have to mention the Spa with the Thai massage. They really gave you that feeling of luxury and well-being. At a price yes, but I have no hesitations recommending it. One exception though. Being so satisfied, we ordered a second massage, but when we arrived we were told that the lady giving me the massage was ill, and that I’d have to get an appointment an other day. Why did they not give us notice? They had our room nr and my phone nr… We stayed in the hotel that day waiting for our appointment, when we could have done something else.

To wrap it up - we were very happy with our vacation, and had a great time in this hotel. Certain elements could improve to lift the experience from very good to excellent but we're not in any way complaining, and would not hesitate to come back. Especially if they push it just a little bit further, then they would really get my attention. Because the potential is there.

If this review in any way was helpful, I appreciate the feedback so pls hit the Yes button if you think so.

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong with any of the rooms. We had honeymoon suite superior, which was...

Dear Leon,

We would like to thank you for having so carefully explained your experience. Your opinion is highly valuable and helps us improve our services. It is always our goal to accomplish maximum customer satisfaction and the best way to achieve this is taking in consideration the opinion of our guests.

Thank you very much for explaining how you felt regarding the service in our spa. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to adapt our procedures on the subject of communication when exceptionally an appointment can´t take place. We have extensively discussed the incident of canceling a treatment without informing you, and we agree that it would be better to advice as soon as possible so that you can make other plans. On the other hand, we are delighted that you underlined the quality of the offered treatments. It is nice to know how much you enjoyed it.

Further, we took good note of your remarks regarding the meals offered in the pool bar. On the other hand, we are satisfied that you did enjoy the culinary highlights which our chefs delicately prepare at breakfast, dinner and dessert buffet. Iberostar strives to delight all palates and reading that we could conquest yours, is a source of motivation to continue our daily efforts to surprise and delight with our gastronomic offer.

It is also very enjoyable to read you felt comfortable in the honeymoon suite we allocated you in. It is our goal to provide comfortable and spotless accommodation in unbeatable locations and we thank you for letting us know you were satisfied with yours.

On the other hand, we would like to thank you for your kind words towards our staff which is the base to offer the close and personalized service Iberostar is famous for. They will surely celebrate that you wrote that they were very friendly. As all of them work very hard, striving to surpass guest expectations, we will definitely pass on your satisfaction with their services.

It strengthens our determination to understand from your comments that you have enjoyed your stay at our hotel and we will take in consideration all your constructive comments to learn how we can still improve some of our services so we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in a not too distant future and surprise you positively by achieving your complete satisfaction.

We spent last week in July here liked it so much decided to bring our husbands this time.Had 2fabulous rooms giant terraces with day beds ,so no rush down to the pool beds.all staff so friendly and smiling Philipe and sheriff at reception especially so. my only criticism is the entry into the sea, feel it could be made a lot easier ,as a lot of the clients are not so young ,myself included. All round we love this hotel and area will hopefully return next year. Bed and breakfast is ideal as there are so many good restaurants around ,easy walking distance.breakfasts are 5star !!all happy staff

Room Tip: Both types of rooms we have been in are excellent.all rooms appear to have sea views.

We were here 14th - 21st October with the idea of having a very relaxing week in a high quality hotel, we were not disappointed. The resort features two buildings, the first one has views over the pool and encompasses the more luxurious suites, whilst the second has only standard suites with views over looking the wonderful bay of Calpe, unless you have a ground floor suite which has restricted views of the bay because of trees in the grounds. I believe this building will under go refurbishment with the intention of installing a pool within the garden grounds.

We were located in the second building in a standard suite, which had a seperate bedroom, shower room and toilet. In the living space you have a large spa bath where you can relax and enjoy views out to the bay, a kitchen area with no crockery or utensils (this could be removed under the refurbishment), flat screen tv and settee which can be used as a 3rd bed. Overall the suite was spacious and to a very good standard. Reading through Iberostar brochure they state attention to detail matters, they provide soap, shower cream etc. so why not provide tea and coffee facilities in the suites, if attention to detail matters. We missed not being able to enjoy a late night coffee on the balcony to finish our night and look out over the bay, as I am sure other people would also enjoy.

The staff were attentive and always greeted us with a warm welcome, even more so if you try and communicate in the local language, they appreciate your effort. The only disappointment we encountered was the day and a half to receive an additional pillow, despite two visits to reception. The dining room was spacious with a balcony section giving wonderful views over the bay. There was a wide and varied selection of food from the buffet with something for everyone, although basic in standard was still enjoyable. The spa treatments and facilities were reasonably priced and are not to be missed. The gym is small and basic but a sign stated it will be refurbished, so should improve for next year. The pool area was very good with stunning views across the bay, so lovely to lie and relax beside, plenty of beds were available that you didn't have to rise early to secure one.

The location on the bay is within a quiet area on a hillside 400m from "The square" which is the main entertainment place, and is approx 1Km from the main town attractions. Their are numerous restaurants and bars in the area and on the way down towards the town, some were extremely busy and provided quality and value for money.

Overall, a little more attention to small details and Jardin del Sol will definitely meet our expectations of it's star grading. We will certainly return in the near future to once again experience a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation at Iberostar Suites hotel Jardin del Sol.

Room Tip: The 1st building has the upmarket suites and best views. In the 2nd building request a high floor fo...

Just returned after a 4 day short break. We decided to go all inclusive but how differently we were treated. The hotel and room was great , but alas once the staff realised we were on the all inclusive deal we were ignored. Never noticing us when we sat down at lunchtime in the pool area. Although other customers not all inclusive were served around us. Completing their whole meal before my husband then decided to order our food and drinks at he bar. We complained to the staff on reception about how awkward we felt during the lunchtime service and she came back down to the restaurant to question why we were being ignored. To this one waiter named Antonio proclaimed non comprende. And once again turned his back on us and served other guests. Our 4 day break just to stay at this hotel cost well over £750 it's not a cheap option. Other all inclusive guests were also being treated in the same manner. Never have we been treated so badly and we warn all travellers going to Majorca to avoid this hotel especially if going all inclusive.

Just returned from a seven night stay, what particularly impressed us was the fact that although the hotel was due to close on our last day there (4th November) for a facelift and refurbishment the standards of service food and comfort remained first class right up to the point when they were literally locking the doors behind us for the end of season staff party. The location of the Jardin del sol is not fantastic, and we think a car hire is pretty much essential to get the best out of a holiday in majorca. That being said the hotel looks out onto a very pleasant view across the bay of the costa del calma, and all the rooms face onto the sea with virtually uninterrupted sun on the balconys and terraces. The Executive suites are spacious with large screen satellite tvs and jacuzzis. The dining room is big enough to accommodate all the guests and the buffets from our experience are varied and of high quality with sufficient choice for the fussiest of eaters! Service in the dining room is excellent and its particularly noticeable that the hard working staff are constantly smiling, telling each other jokes and seem to have any amount of time to talk to the guests whilst maintaining a high level of prompt and curteous attention to their work. Reception are helpful and friendly and for the price paid we feel it would be hard to find better value anywhere we have been in our numerous visits to spain over the past thirty years or so.
A great holiday experience overall keep up the good work Iberostar.
