“Nice Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Stayed at Bahia Del Sol - From the 20-27th Oct 2012. (Two young ladies traveling)

Beautiful Hotel, around a 1hr journey from the airport but bearing in mind we was on a transfers bus so it may be a quicker journey going straight. Huge hotel with a lovely fountain in front extremely clean and well locked after.

We arrived at the hotel late after a flight delay but this wasn't an issue , given a set of keys and a hand drawn map of how to get to our hotel room it was at the back of the second building and you had to take two lifts to get to the room (361) this wasn't a problem for us but i did hear complains from another guest as she was unable to find her room.

Room was small but spacious enough for two ladies for the week, two single beds, nothing to fancy the worlds tiniest and oldest TV which was confirmed to us from the maintenance man that walked into the room and asked "where is your TV" even though the tiny box on the wall was in front of him - one English station out of 14 basically I'd read the reviews before about this being a hotel that caters to German people it wasn't until i tried to watch the TV and read the room manual that i saw that this is actually very true.. The English couple we stayed next door to had the same issue and the same thoughts on this.
Fridge in room, only discovered because we had lost something and was looking everywhere it looks like a normal cupboard! We went bed and breakfast so it was nice to have our own fridge :)
Balcony is a good size but be careful as the door self locks from the outside lol and you will have no way of contacting reception if you placed in a room that we were in.
Bathroom, lovely clean towels brought and changed daily.

Breakfast:Nice food, continental and Hot food :) we only made it to breakfast twice in the week

The hotel it self has around 4 pools i think all good sizes, they have a beautiful sauna and indoor pool and jacuzzi (free just ask at reception for a token) lovely chilled out spa area :)
They also have a gym (that we never used) and a Tanning bed but being born with dark skin we didn't need this lol :)

Overall this was a lovely hotel, like i said they did favor the German guest more.

The only gripe was for the whole week we was there we was unable to get an Iron, even though we called first thing in the morning and asked last thing walking in at night which most times was after 2am but still no iron they kept directing us to their laundry services which came with a fee but besides that i don't really have any complaints about this hotel.

Nice hotel and will return in the future.

The attitude of the reception when booking in was excellent. I had asked for a high room and sea view as the holiday was a suprise for my wife's birthday. Both requests were given to us. The room was spotlessly clean and although quite small, it was adequate for what we required. The bathroom and shower was very nice and the double bed very comfortable. The air conditioning worked ok when the balcony door was shut. Towels were changed everyday and the room cleaned very well. The hotel was biased towards German tourists but we did,nt find this a problem. The entertainment was ok, just a pity people did'nt stay up to appreciate it. Plenty of sunbeds available and the indoor pool was excellent. I would definitely recommend the hotel to other tourists, and will probably return in the future.

Room Tip: 5th floor room (248) had a lovely view of the the sea.

Just returned from a week-long stay here with my boyfriend. We were there on a half-board basis but most other guests were on an All Inclusive basis. The hotel was full to capacity during our week's stay but didn't seem to have enough staff to deal with with guests' requests. The dining room was run with military precision and all waiting staff were efficient and curteous. The standard of food was good, although a bit "samey". The problem came at the bar. Waiting times for service were extremely long - often only one person manning the bar and queues in excess of 20 people wanting drinks at any one time. The other thing that "put me off" a little was the fact that we could not pay for our drinks at the bar and they had to be put on account and paid on checking-out. We went out for drinks most evenings due to the long waiting times.
The hotel was very well presented and our room, although a little on the small side, was clean. There are 2 pools - one at the front of the hotel and another (small one) higher up the hillside wiuth enough sunbeds and umbrellas available.

Room Tip: Ask for room in main building and not the annexes

we arrived tired after a long journey to be told there was a problem with our room which was not true as we found out later they had over booked and we were not the only ones. They took us to another hotel for the night and picked us up at 11am the next morning by the time we had unpacked and got sorted half that day had gone. We were offered 2 days all inclusive but declined so was offered free drinks with our evening meal for 4 nights so we took that but when we tried to get wine and water we were told we had to use all inclusive, the wine was awful so we just had water. We have complained to our travel agents since we got home and awaiting there reply.
The hotel is quite nice and the breakfasts are good but the evening meals are poor not much choice they dont cater for the english taste.

Room Tip: third floor very quite overlooking pool

We stayed in the hotel from the 18th till the 27th of September 2012. We really had a great time in this hotel, even while the most guests are a much older than we are. The first night we had a small room, because the hotel was overbooked. Next day we got a nice bigger room (109), with balcony and even a couch and flatscreen tv. Unfortunately the bathroom of this new room was less good than the other one. Shower temperature changes the whole time from cold to hot, so it wasn't a pleasure to take a shower. Also the toilet didn't flush well. The room is right above the place in the bar where the entertainment is, so you hear it very loud in the room.

The bar itself is good with great service. With all-incluse we could order drinks all over the day, even some alcoholic drinks. Most of the staff are nice and friendly, especially at the reception. Really liked the breakfast. The quality and variety of the lunch was less, as well as the dinner. Dinner had many of choices, but the quality was not that good. Otherwise, we loved the desserts with ice and many types of pie.

The hotel has a great location, in a quiet sidestreet. With a couple of minutes walking, you reach the nice beach of Santa Ponsa and a little further there are many of nice shops, restaurants, pubs and places to go out.

Even though there are some things which could be better, we would recommend this hotel for it's service, hospitality and quality.

Visited this hotel for five day break 20th to 25th september 2012 with six female friends. This is our second visit to this hotel, and I have to say we were very disappointed. We had booked rooms with balcony and sea view - and paid extra to have this privilege, only to be allocated two rooms at the back of the hotel - one of which was like a box room with a double bed, which was supposed to sleep 2 ladies. Following our complaint and obvious promise to publish on trip advisor, my friends were moved ( it seems there were rooms available after all) We spoke to a few people at the hotel, who had all had issues with rooms. Frankly this cannot be considered a four star hotel. The rooms were not cleaned during our stay, the beds were made and the towels were changed. There was one flat pillow for each person. On a positive, the breakfast was really good. Suffice to say we will need to try a different hotel next year, and as I said at the beginning - Disappointed this year

Room Tip: Room 201 has a fab view and is a really good size

It was like going back in time to the 70s - 80s, I kept expecting to see Basil Fawlty attacking Manuel.
Only given one keycard as the machine wasn't working, and this only opened the door to the room on the 5th - 6th attempt.
There was a singer playing a keyboard in the bar when we checked in that reminded us of bad karaoke.
Our room didn't have a balcony or terrace, just a window that faced a wall with a noisy generator that was constant, to be fair to the hotel, I complained as soon as we checked in and they did offer to move us the next day, not that night though, but as we were only in Santa Ponsa to see family and were not going to be spending any time in the hotel and only sleeping there for 2 nights we couldn't be bothered to move for one night.
Two cheap twin beds with one sheet & pillow each.
There was only one electrical socket in the room which the TV was plugged into (big box TV, not flatscreen) that was on a big heavy desk, so you had to pull the furniture out and have it at an angle in the room to use the socket.
There was a safe in the wardrobe, but you have to pay to use it and receive a big key, decided to carry our valuables with us instead.
There were no plugs in the sink or bath and had to request a plug, waiting for that made us late for a party.
This is taken from their website " Our bathrooms are fully equipped, cosmetics, hair dryer and fleecy towels are standard. For your personal valuables there are safes available, as well as a little selection of cool drinks waiting for you in our mini bar. The air conditioning offers a pleasant temperature during the night"
Fleecy towels - No, think Travel Lodge/Motel type towels, and no flannels.
Mini Bar - An empty fridge, also no tea or coffee making facilities
Air Conditioning - Maybe that was what the constant noise was outside our room, but there was no evidence of it in the room.
In summary, the hotel is in a great location if you want the quiet side of Santa Ponsa and it was cheap, but if you are used to staying in 4 - 5 star hotels you will be disappointed, if this is a 4 star hotel other 4 & 5 star hotels should be 9 and 10.

Room Tip: It is pot luck with the rooms, when booking there is no option to choose a double, a sea view or upg...
