“Fantastic Hotel!! Very Good Value For Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2010

Ive stayed at the hotel four times over the past year an a half. It is a fantasic hotel if you get it when it is low in prices. I wouldnt pay over £200 pound for stay as it is basic, but i always look and book it when its cheap you can get a weeks holiday for £55 pound per person plus book cheap flights with ryan air, easy jet. For £55 pound for 6 Nights it is a bargain!! It is in the middle of loads of shops, bars, pubs, resturants. The is a supermarket right outside the hotel we stayed self catering which it is why it was so cheap, the kitchen is small but fine for cooking, the room is standard room but very clean. I would advise anybody to go it really is a great holiday in a fantastic location, very friendly and i will be going again on different times in the year.

We stayed at the hotel in the middle of April. Booked through travelrepublic, paid about £120 each for half board paying the extra for the sea view room - hugely reccomend this. Hotel has 6 floors in a u shape with the bulk of rooms facing out to the sea. Flight was early morning so arrived to hotel mid morning with hotel ready at 2pm which we were fine with as this is the norm. Left luggage at hotel and explored.

Rooms - We paid about £30 extra for a sea view room - I point out there are lots of palm trees around the hotel which means though our room was in theory a sea view room on the 2nd floor we could only see snipppets through the leaves of the trees, ask for a higher room. Rooms themselves very spacious with tele, fridge and small kitchen area. Beds are comfy singles pushed together with adequate balconies. Walls are thin and the layout means each bedroom is adjacent to next doors living room rather than bedroom to bedroom. I guess there were noise issues but its totally dependent on who you are living next to. Rooms cleaned every other day to a high standard by friendly staff.

Food - we went half board and breakfast is very good with the full english on offer, hot drinks, very sweet juices and pastries and fruits / cereal. Evening meal you are assigned a table for the week. This is good as means no queuing for tables. You pay for any drinks bought as you exit the restaurant. TIP - If you buy wine they will save the bottle for the following day which means it worked out cheaper than buying a bottle of water each day. Our 7 euro bottle of wine lasted us 3 days with 6 glasses in total. Just ask the waiter for pop your table ticket on it. Food was ok ,not outstanding but then only 3 star so what do you expect. Salad bar as others say was good.

Hotel - 7 floors with the 4th floor being at road/ground level having reception area. Floor 0 had restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool and 'gym'. Outdoor pool area spacious considering the hotel said the hotel was full as was easter holidays. Maids always cleaning it every morning first thing. Beautiful views across bay of santa ponsa from pool side, can be windy. Pool bar was there but not open in April. Also an area for pool tables and playground. Sat morning (10.30) there was rifle shooting was really good, not well advertised though so check posters in lifts. Didnt use hotel bar as bought all alcohol in supermaket next door as much cheaper and prob beter quality.

Location - Santa Ponsa and the hotel itself seems split between Germans and English. Next resort around to the West (Pergua) mainly German, next bay to East is Palma Nova and Magaluf. Hotel is on the side of Santa Ponsa bay and is a 15 min walk to town centre. Here you will find restaurants, shops and plenty of good beach. In the hotel vicinity there are a few english bars and some italien restaurnats. By the hotel is an excellent supermarket which has an instore bakery. This was excellent for those on self catering and those like us half board as we bought fresh baguettes (1 euro) each day for lunch and bought a block of butter, ham and cheese which were able to make up and in our room using kitchen facilities so we prob spent about 10 euros on lunch for the week. Also sold all the wines and lagers you need at reasonable prices.

Santa Ponsa is not overally cheap to eat out in, about 10 euro will get you a good main course. There was an all you can eat chinese in Santa ponsa centre on the rounsdabout by Hotel Plaza by the beach whioch was 10 euro, yummy. Bar wise drinks not cheap but can reccomend Traceys bar for a friendly drink (2/3 of the way down the hill towards town centre.)

DAY DUE TO LEAVE VOLCANIC ASH ERUPTED SO STAYED FURTHER 2 NIGHTS.
Couldnt keep our own room so was either offered a back room facing the supermarket for 29 euro, a room like what we were in for 36 euro or for 44 euro the suite. As was on holiday and haviong an extra 2 days we took the suite and we dont regret it. For 8 euro extra we had a triple balcony on the 5th floor overlooking the whole bay and swimming pool. If you get this room or any of thre 4 or 5 rooms on thre end of the hotelfacing the sea you wont be disappointed, Your own sun beds, so we stayed up ther for 2 days without even visiting the small pool. Once the ash situation deepended we rebooked flights with another airline (Thomson) after originally having flights with Easyjet and once thomson flight was cancelled they put us up all inc till they could get us off the island, but thats a diff story.

All in all yes i would reccomend the hotel, half the resort was closed at easter so can imagine it can get busy there but the hotel was supposedly full and still there was plenty of space around the pool and restaurant.

We stayed for 6 days and had a great time even though the weather was awful! The worst weather in 20 yrs we was told. The hotel was good the rooms are great and ask for a high floor its good views and quiet. Well worth paying the extra for sea view. The only thing was its self catering rooms and you dont get a toaster or kettle you have to rent these which we didnt like. The gym is also rubbish everything was broken when I say everything I mean all 4 machines so not a great gym. The pool looks nice but we didnt use this due to the weather shame. Defo a nice enough basic hotel though.

Hi - stayed here with large hen party of 28 at end of April. We all had apts to sleep 4 however, this consisted of 1 large bedroom, a sofa bed which creaked every time you moved and a camp bed which most people ended up putting the mattress on the floor. Hotel clean and pool area lovely-plenty or room-pool bar just opening up. Hotel located at top of hill approx 15 min walk to centre of santa ponsa but not too bad of a hill. Supermarket just beside hotel on the right and some good restaurants beside it. Surprised at price of food in Santa Ponsa-v reasonable-10Euro roughly for 3 course meal. Mrs Murphy's kitchen excellent for dinner and very fast service, the glasgow for breakfast(4euro for large fry). There is a beautiful steakhouse on the other side of the bay(not sure of name but only steakhouse there) stunning food and about 12 Euro for ribs which were nicer than any i've had at home. Lots of pandora style bracelets for sale about 3euro and maxi dresses for 12 euros, wigs 4 euros for presents. My only word of warning - hotel seems to cater for hen/stag parties and large group of gypsies were escorted from hotel for shoplifting by police to airport. All in all paid 30Euro for three might stay- wouldn't pay much more!!

We stayed here for a week and got a good price last minute. Santa Ponsa is not a place I would rush to go back to, but the beach is lovely and there are a lot of bars and resturants all serving usual holiday grub. There is a small cove at the back of the hotel which is lovely for swimming in, although the beach there is quite rocky. I also enjoyed the hotel pool, which was almost as cold as the sea! Forget the gym and sauna, though - I never saw these open and the indoor pool was locked most of the time too.

The hotel is clean, the apartments are sizable, although the kitchens are small, but we were half board so never used the kitchen. The beds are the usual two singles pushed together and weren't the most comfortable. We requested a sea veiw which is worth paying extra for. There is a serious noise problem however, the walls are paper thin and each balcony is next to a bedroom.

The food was acceptable, super salad and desert choices and usually paella, meat or fish choice. It was a bit repetitive and more limited to what we usually have, but the hotel was half empty and a lot of people seemed to be self catering, so can't expect a lot of meals cooked for only a few people. The staff were efficient. If we were offered a cheap deal here again, and needed some sun and sand out of season, then I wouldn't hesitate.

We took the bus to Palma, and also a half day trip to the wooden train in Soller, both of which I'd recommend.

Just back and could not recomend higher.Santa Ponsa is beautiful resort with nice mix of Spanish Irish English Scandinavian....... tourists. We booked through Alpha rooms (inc the transfers) and they were also excellent.
Buffet breakfast 1st class only problem was ages to boil a kettle !!!!!! but might be shortage of sun loungers in high season (nb take lilo as quite hard).
Restaurants a bit dissapointing and seem to all sell nothing but pizza - thought I was on the Amalfi coast !!!!! but would recomend Manolos(great garlic soup) Sebastians(3 course pork loin deal exc value) and The Royal Garden(?) big one on the corner for mixed grill.Arkles opposite for pint of larger at 1.5 eu and next door for pre dinner drink.
Will def be going back in autumn(when prices are cheaper again) even though beds a bit hard but was fantastic value for money.

I visited Jardin Del Mar last year with 7 other guys. We were there to enjoy ourself and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel. It's fantastic value and we never had any problems with service. We even tried the buffet one night, great selection, good quality. In my opinion its one of the best locations in Santa Ponsa, unbelievable views of the beach and bay, yet it is far enough away to not feel like you're in the middle of everything. About a ten minute walk from beach and the main restaurants and bars. Rooms are a good size and can comfortably fit up to 3 adults. Recommended for adults who want to relax or go out and families alike, and we had great fun with the poolside entertainment - waterpolo etc. Definitely worth a look
